Mrs Gong

watched today's ep. what kind of a shit just i finished. LM was gifted to Yan by xiyan and now She is gifted to Xiyan by Yan. Who wrote this script. The start of the drama was really well. But these eps, i don't understand how cheap this plot

  • TaliaToo

Hahahaha. That was so well put in a nutshell: Mei Lin was gifted to Yan by Xian and now she is gifted to Xian by Yan. Perfect! ???

  • divica

so basically this drama had a good beguining and then it got completly ruined?
After watching the first eps I thought it was strange that this actor got the ml role that seemed to be one of those roles that leaves a lasting impression. but this explains it.
    Nahlabee4
    Please elaborate.

    • eliteles1  VIP

I think she meant that it was inexplicable that Liu Xue Yi (who was always the eternal supporting characterm, 16) would get such a good, interesting role that would definitely catch people's attention (a golden character). So now she says she understood (because she saw that the character is not that wonderful, because it was built in a sloppy way by the scriptwriters. (and that if it really was a much better built character and with more visibility value (she thinks they would have given it to a more famous actor than Liu Xue Yi).
PS: I think that Youku knows the value of Liu Xue Yi (and knew that from a book rejected by almost everyone) and maybe with not so brilliant scriptwriters (only a talented, charismatic and handsome actor, like Liu Xue Yi) would keep the interest (and together with Wu Jin Yian), Youku knew that this drama would be a success. Just like other smaller dramas by Liu Xue Yi (which worked as if they were great dramas), commercially speaking. (Qing Luo, Love at night, Unshakable faith, In Blossom, and besides the character Wuxin in The Blood of Youth).
      PS:
But despite the many flaws (there are so many interesting things) (and that will still happen in the drama), the drama has more interesting things than flaws and is worth watching.

    • Nahlabee4

@eliteles1 Aah I get it, thanks.

However, if we look at the success of The Double with the ML who’s also an “underdog” Liu is too, her argument doesn’t hold water.

This product company is capable of turning things around and giving underdogs golden characters.

It’s just that with this things got lost in translation while trying to rewrite the whole novel.

They should have just put it in credits that the project was inspired by the novel but not necessarily taking it’s direction.

The problem is that, people who read the novel have high expectations.

With that said, the four writers inconsistencies that are too visible including the editing.

They chose ML to turn things around for them with his great acting skills of turning mediocre characters into golden one.

No super famous actor can do what he’s able to do, because super famous actors get easy planned out characters with a lot of assistance and big marketing budget.

You can look at highly hyped dramas that after the hype you see that it wasn’t that great but, it had too marketing budget.

E.g Princess Agent, kdrama King the land etc…

Princess agent wasn’t great as made up to be when you watch it with a critical eye, but it had marketing budget and super famous actors.

    • eliteles1  VIP

@Nahlabee4 Actually: 'Princess Agents (was very good), in my opinion, only the ending left us with the impression of a sequel (but since the book was a plagiarism), so... I never forget the opening scene and the final scene of Princess Agents (it's very impactful) and that's why I watched "The Legend of Shen Li" with the same actors.
(As for what you said about Liu Xue Yi and the use of a less famous but charismatic and talented actor to cover the plot holes, I agree with you. (But still, I think that: Kill me love me, looking at it in general (and I think this will be confirmed at the end of the drama), there are more things to appreciate than to be frustrated about. (The overall message is so touching). And they chose the perfect couple for the drama.

    • Nahlabee4

@eliteles1 Princess agent was overly hyped.

For it to meet that expectation it had to have season 2.

They wasted too much time on the SML and delayed showing FL’s super skills. So her greatness was left to be something to be desired for.

Also, the fact that managed to super market a plagiarised body of work tells you that skills of actors were not the priority but making money and fame was the focus.

    • eliteles1  VIP

@Nahlabee4 I felt like they wasted a lot of time with the second protagonist, really. They could have made a more conclusive ending, unfortunately. (Princess Agents- drama)

    • Nahlabee4

@eliteles1 Indeed, and that’s because they relied on the 2nd season and forgot that anything is possible.

If you look at the ending of JOL first season, although you would desire a 2nd season, you wouldn’t have much complaints if the 2nd season didn’t happen.

    • AleksandraSucur

@eliteles1 I agree with your opinion, too. Princess Agents had flows, but had so many memorable scenes (neither I will ever forget that human hunting opening, fight with wolves, death of curly girl, insane training with arrows and advance in slave-carrier, the ballet-like fight, the streap fight in the bath pool that finished in bed, killing of evil uncle Yuwen, SML initial humour, pain and transformation, king's hypocrisy... whole that cruel world). Its main flow was - it was too long, so too many people were cast and with such a huge crew it was inevitable that acting of some supporting actors was not up to the level, too many subplots, not all of them equally enganging or exciting with the result: viewers' emotions switching on and off and sometimes even tired and unconvinced, but overall always wanting to see more of that story. That's probably the reason why TLSL plot was (even too much) simple (a flow of opposite sign) but the fans at least seen Yuwen Yue dragged out of the lake and in company of Chu Qiao (I even remember their names).
From KMLM I'll probably remember the most original villain (without spoiling, we sense a Greek tragedy in heart of this twisted mind character towards the end) and the best emperor I've seen in C-drama. The story itself is not among those shining high above others, but I'd certainly recomend it, it's better than anything else airing right now. As for Liu Xue Yi, whoever watched The Blood of Youth, knows this actor can play anything, not like many others who know to play only in their comfort zone roles. And this capacity is visible in this role, too

    • divica

@Nahlabee4 I don't think the actor saves the drama. And I am not criticizing his acting skills. The problem is that the story of the first 10 or so eps was building one kind of story and then it completly changed making the ml a vanilla charecter and drama turned into the usual historic melodrama with its cliches that feel forced because the story wasn't leadiing to them (ex luo mei crying for the crown prince)

      • eliteles1  VIP

I loved Liu Xue Yi's "the ml a vanilla character" played in Kill me love me. After watching this vanilla, and continuing to watch it, I couldn't bear to have never watched it. (I put up with all the plot holes in this story, because this character is "simply SPECIAL".????

        Nahlabee4

        @divica I get you.

I stopped watching at ep 16, waiting for all episodes to come out for a similar reason.

    • Nahlabee4

@AleksandraSucur I share the same sentiments about Liu Xue Yi‘s acting skills vs A-listers. Most of them work in comfort zones with a lot of aid for commercial reasons.

Liu Xue Yi is an A-lister to me.

    • Nahlabee4

@divica Eliteles1 explains better about what’s happening. Read her comments.

@Nahlabee4 Like "In blossom", although there is a hook for a possible 2nd season, or not. I am satisfied with the current ending.

    • Nahlabee4

@eliteles1 I’m enjoying it so much. And the opening ost?
      eliteles1  VIP
Yes, the songs in "In Blossom" are all beautiful, and the drawings in reference to flowers too. (I love the romanticism of this drama: "In blossom"), as well as each investigative case solved in the series (always hides a message in its lines).

    • eliteles1  VIP

@AleksandraSucur@AleksandraSucur I agree with everything you said about Princess Agents. But as for Kill me love me, I find everything about Liu Xue Yi's role in "Kill me love me" memorable. Once again he stepped out of his comfort zone, this Jing He who is totally different from the book (totally romantic, dignified, and who becomes something else from the first scene to the following scenes onwards, is all memorable. (I will never forget Jing He explaining to Luo Mei about the immortal flower. Or the scene of him in the courtyard talking to the little flowers growing between the stones (the ethereal prince inside the palace); Or the "prince who wears flannel" like the couple in KMLM referred) in his life in the countryside. It's all memorable and special in my mind.

Everyone is being so critical of this drama, so now I'm scared it's gonna be a letdown (I'm about 20 minutes into the first episode)

  • Akiharu86

If you are not a fan from the novel, then I can safely said, the drama is worth watching.
It’s nearly impossible to follow the novel, the male lead is too red flag, irredeemable, by any means. The drama whitewashing the male lead a lot which is the main source of unhappiness by many here.
I haven’t read the novel yet, so I am happy with the current set up. The male and female lead showed maturity and don’t act one dimensional.
What I see is both of them complete each other. The male lead with the royal family background at start showed less compassion toward others (exp: making the FL his own assassin, etc), whereas the Fl although drive by her revenge motive, never forget humanity.
The male lead learn that from the FL, so his behavior changes to the better without he even realize. Why the FL can influence the male lead, partly due to the same revenge motive carrying by both of them.
Hence, the male lead becomes a green forest rather than a sea of red fire. That’s my take from the drama.

      It's a good series,you'll love it

    • Alida3

It’s all a question of personal preference. I’ve really been enjoying it so far. There are a few things that I would have preferred differently, but many things about this drama are great. The 2 leads are perfect and the romance delivers imo. I really enjoyed watching them growing together. The martial arts scenes are wonderful. Costumes, styling etc are really beautiful.

Did this entire team of writers and editors and director(s) (crawl out from some fan-fiction cesspool academy or what? (I’m excepting the action director) how could they demean the vindication of the Weibei army by sandwiching that heartbreaking final farewell between the Weibei general and the ghosts of his men - between (1) histrionic cp theatrics and (2) a tacked on (undeserved) mercy execution ..?!

Unfortunately the villain is the CP so killing him before the trial would have been an offence to the crown- even MJ and LM were not fully spared. Also, exactly bc he is royalty he was given poison instead of a public execution. True, no one wanted to watch his and Luo Mei's marriage farse, but what can we do..

Liu Xueyi is worthy of being a big man in Shandong, he is really a big and generous party, not twisting, when the host asked him if he had any experience in filming kiss scenes.
Liu Xueyi said generously, look at what you said, I am in my thirties, and I am not an innocent little boy, can I have no experience.
The host asked him about his experience in kissing scenes, and Liu Xueyi said that first of all, it is necessary to keep it hygienic, clean and refreshing.
The second is to concentrate and strive for a pass, so that you and the rival actress can be less embarrassed.
I feel that Liu Xueyi really gives people a very sincere feeling, never hides it, and does not pretend to be innocent like some male stars, born from the heart, Liu Xueyi feels very comfortable and refreshing as a whole.

In the book, Luo Mei is in love with Jing He but never says yes to his requests to have her. But Luo Mei is still jealous when she realizes that Jing He's heart has been won by Mei Lin. It is this (in the book) that makes her furious (in the book) and tries to kill Mei Lin.
PS: But (in the drama), Luo Mei is a fair and upright person, an honorable female general. (The complaint of many here is that it was inconsistent for her to forget so quickly the love she had since childhood for Jing He, and fall in love with the Prince.
    PS:
The whip scene in the cemetery is in the drama. Jing He will find (what he thinks is Mei Lin dead body) in the cemetery (but she is actually in a coma). She will be in a coma for a whole year.

I call it the cemetery scene because it was described that way in the book. He even digs her up and whips her body (although in the book she isn't actually there).
But in the drama (this was much better). It's Mei Lin in this place of death, because for JIng He it's like a cemetery. He finds her under the petals, he thinks she's dead. He whips the petals (in the drama), as if it were a way to dig her up, but in reality the whip didn't touch her body. But (from the trailers) when he finds her under the petals he won't know that she looks dead, but she's not (I think he'll walk around the city with her, pretending she's alive). This will be a representation of his desperation, believing she's dead. From the BTS (he'll take her near a tree) and take care of her, thinking she's dead. From the trailer (he'll walk around the city) and sit with her leaning on his shoulder, and drink inconsolably. It will be a representation of madness and of someone who cannot accept losing the woman he loves (in a way that for him is irreversible).

Liu Xue Yi continues by saying that his character, Jing He, is crazy. And here again, it will be a moment of madness for the character. But in this madness, he is showing his love.
    • melis04

@eliteles1 In the trailer they show he and Mei Lin lying on the bed in wedding outfits and Mei Lin is unconscious and he has a hairpin in his hand. Maybe he think there Mei Min is dead and try to kill himself.

      eliteles1  VIP
@melis04 Maybe that's right. But... there's a BTS of the two of them with those same red clothes, he getting off the carriage, and she waiting for him near the carriage very happily. (Could this be a dream?). Or could it be, after this moment, in bed, maybe he thought about killing himself? (These scenes are very confusing). I'll only understand when I watch the episodes.

I know I'm commenting here too soon but as of now I really enjoy the show. Although most of the criticism here is nothing short of the boring or the dragging or even other stuff to me it feels like a good pacing.

At the moment, I am seeing it as a quite real experience, even the villains have empathy for their people, even the protagonist have grey areas and an immoral streak and that is normal to me actually.

The show has stated one too many times that no matter what these people do, they are still humans and their ambitions of revenge or power or even stability is not higher than their human-ness if that makes sense.

Despite all this being said, I never really thought that the drama would be sensational or fast paced as I've watched one too many royal cdramas and can probably guess things, but even then this show surprised me in its ways especially how the main characters are written and how their suffering despite being their strength, makes them even more vulnerable and weak.

  • Regina de Sá
I loved your comment. You are a sensitive, deep, polished person. I'm loving KMLM too, most people here are loving the series, some criticisms are fair, but none of them are derogatory, except when eventually a troll comes here and is duly shooed away. We ignore these troublemakers and use CDM resources, reporting them. I was also surprised. I'm actually a super fan of The Double and since it ended, I haven't been enchanted by anything else and I ended up here because of WJY, who also acted in The Double and as her performance was masterful, I waited anxiously for the series and I'm loving it. Welcome with your perceptions. Here is a space to express our opinions. Here we laugh and suffer together... We are all waiting for a HE for MJH and ML.

What a wonderful interpretation of the drama you have given us now. I had forgotten about this comment by the directors in the special video from the end of the drama's filming (about the humanity of the characters).

Wu Jinyan and Liu Xueyi's new drama "Spring Flower Flame" is simply insulting the audience's IQ! With such a big snowfall, even if you don't freeze to death, you can still protect the prince! If you don't eat or drink for a few days, can you still walk so far with the prince? Is it possible to ask screenwriters and actors to go to the Northeast for a night in winter and taste the taste of heavy snow! Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to write such a brain-dead plot! With the help of the plot, these screenwriters, directors, and leading actors should be given five slaps: for the audience, for the plot, for IQ, for love, and even more hate!

We are two thirds through the drama and despite all the flaws, inconsistencies and poor editing I still find this cdrama very watchable mainly because they didn't dumb down the heroine and portray her as needing a man to save her all the time. In fact she even saved MJH from death and I particularly enjoyed watching her fighting skills which are very well executed and rare in cdramas where heroines are constantly portrayed as damsels in distress even when the books stress that they are expert fighters.

I think that scene of Jing He with blood running down the sides of his mouth as if he were the Joker, then he falls down to see his brother's face looking at his father who is leaving through the palace door. I think this makeup was suggested by Liu Xue Yi (my guess), and it has a meaning. At first glance, JH is the villain, the Joker, but on second glance, who is the villain? (I don't know, I think this meaning is conveyed). Although this time Jing He is wearing white (here maybe there is another meaning), despite all appearances, he is the reverse of his brother.(Although we already knew that, these elements emphasize the meaning).

Oh my God, Murong Jing and the changing hair style in the Spring Flower Flame turned out to be because of this! and crown before you can tie your hair. Murong Jinghe was persecuted by the crown prince when he was not yet an adult, and he changed from a major general to a "human slaughter general", so no one gave him a crown ceremony, until the truth of the Qingzhou fire case was revealed, and Murong Jinghe was finally able to tie his hair. The memories of more than ten years of passing have begun to attack me again, whether it is the main CP or the deputy CP in the Spring Flower Flame, the taste of ancient literature is all rushing!

Murong Jinghe pretended to be ruthless for Meilin's safety and pushed her to the other men, and then went into danger alone. After the deed was completed, what should have been closed and what should have been saved was saved, but he was seriously injured and unconscious. Meilin, who chased back, also chose to let go and leave after seeing Murong Jinghe wake up, and went to Xiyan and Qin, but poor Murong Jinghe dragged a weak body and appeared after the person left. Meilin, who happened to stagger his line of sight, and Murong Jinghe, who was lying on the ground crying in pain, this BE feeling was simply pulled to the top!

The deputy CP is also miserable, and he is separated from each other. Luomei and Murong Xuanlie missed half of their lives, and finally fell in love with each other, but they had to face the situation of having to separate. Luo Mei went to the prison in a wedding dress to see Murong Xuanlie, who was imprisoned for rebellion, and personally sent a cup of poisoned wine to her lover, watching him fall into her arms, the feeling of this love-hate entanglement is really more heart-piercing ?

that is, Chunhuayan really performed the ancient literature thoroughly! #微博视界大会#
