Ramasakkani sita- Godavari movie
Neela gagana ghanavichalana dharanija sree ramana..
The one who holds the dark blue sky in his skin, who moves with heaviness(like the dark clouds?), but the one who is of this very own earth
Madhura vadana nalina nayana manavi vinara rama..
The one with the sweetest form, eyes exuding the beauty of a lotus, Rama, won’t you heed my request?
Rama chakkani sitaki arachetha gorinta..
To the Rama-dearest Sita(Rama is used like an adjective here), with palms reddened with gorintaku(mehendi)..
Inta chakkani chukkaki inkevaru mogudanta..
To such a lady shining like a star, who else but him, be her husband..
Rama chakkani sitaki..
To the Rama-dearest Sita
Udhuta veepuna velu vidichina pudami alludu ramude..
That Rama, who had left his fingerprints on the squirrel, the earth’s very son-in-law..
( Acc. to the lore, Rama caressed a squirrel for its dedication towards the Lord, leaving his footprints)
Edama chethanu sivuni villunu ettina ramude..
That very Rama who had lifted the great Siva’s bow with his left hand
Ettagalada sita jadanu thali katte velalo..
Can he now lift Sita’s braided hair when he bends to tie her the mangalsutra?
Raama chakkani seetaki..
To the Rama-dearest Sita..
Erra jaabili cheyi gilli raamudedani aduguthunte..
The moonlight(red) is pinching and teasing me(as Sita) asking where Rama is!
(Moon could be angry since it can’t reflect the moonlight off the beautiful face of Rama)
Alt. translation which I liked from the comments:
The red gorintaku/mehendi (in the shape of moon) is pinching me(as Sita) and asking where Rama is!
“Choodaledani pedavi cheppe cheppalemani kanulu cheppe..”
The lips could only convey that they have not seen, the eyes conveyed that they cannot say..
(This kind of cleverly portrays how she is of two minds whether to tell or hide where her Rama is)
Nallapoosainaadu devudu nallani raghuramudu..
Oh look, the dark-sky skinned Rama- how he has but become a black pearl around Sita’s neck.
(From comments: In Telugu a nallapoosa is a black bead which becomes really hard to find and the poet might be referring to how Seetha has not seen Rama in a long time.)
Rama chakkani seetaki..
Oh, to this Rama-dearest Sita..
Chukkanadigaa dikkunadigaa chemmagillina choopunadiga..
I have asked each star, I have enquired each direction, I have asked my helplessly teared-up sight..
Neeru pongina kanulalona neeti terale adduniliche..
In the eyes flooded with tears, the veil of tears itself stand against this flood..
Choosukommani manasu telipe manasu maatalu kaaduga..
My heart simply said look at me, you’ll see him. But what words can satisfy my longing to see him?
Rama chakkani seetaki..
Oh, to this Rama-dearest Sita..
