I really don't think people understand how hard it is to sub. I had a friend explain it to me once and it sounded so time consuming! You have to not only be able to translate, but at the same time make sure the subs come in as accurately as possible and you have to do all that technical editing stuff. People are also taking time from their real lives to sub for people that I feel are ungrateful. I don't bother about subs because I'm just happy for the subs that have been done. I mean, can you imagine if they all stopped subbing? We probably wouldn't be able to find Asian dramas so easily and we'd have to watch it raw.

Not that raw isn't bad but sometimes, I can't understand a single thing going on. And I've been watching Asian dramas for like 6 years now. I feel tempted to make an article about this, find people who sub and interview them on how it's done so that way people can understand just how time consuming subbing a drama is.

Can you imagine people subbing 80-100 episodes? I can't. That's just so many!

So anyway what I'm trying to get at is please be patient and appreciative that we get subs at all. Stop with the rude comments. I want subs too but I know that it takes them a good while before they come out. Also the subs have to be translated and translations to come over night!

So let's all calm down and take time to thank those who sub for us. ^^ Thank you very much subbers! I'm grateful for all your hard-work! Know that you have people who support and realize what you do!

Translation Appreciation Thread

This also includes people who while may not sub dramas or mangas, do their own subbing, translate mangas, video games and anything else they can think of through the Asian entertainment community. It takes time for any sort of translating to be done and I feel they should be treated well too! Thank you guys for your hardwork and carry on! :D
Are there a lot of subbers as members on MDL?
I'm not sure. >< I wish I knew but I just wanted to say something in case there were subbers out there. I saw a really rude comment on a drama site and it just made me sad people expect to get subs.
Thanks to ..Withs2 ..Darksmurf ..Viki ..and some anonymous/personalities/clubs for providing SRT/subs

Definitely...

Anyone who subs for download
Viki
DC
DF....

Of course I thank them and I totally agree. I hate seeing negative, selfish, impatient comments on those sites. So ungrateful!!!

But I think the gratitude would be better placed on the sites where the subbers exist.
I am part of 2 subbing groups ^^ As a timer and typesetter. It really eats time but at the same time I can see who's subbing and what isn't been subbed and so on.
Ooo, I'm so in. I really, really appreciate subbers too, they're my heroes! I guess it can be pure fun when you sub like one or two eps, but later on it may become more of annoying obligation than something you enjoy, especially with those idiots who only want more, faster and better and never show any appreciation. So thank you subbers, for your perseverance, you are my role models! :P

Are there more subbers here that you know of Hava?
Yeah I just don't know where most subber sites are except for a few livejournals that I think are dead now and hm...maybe I'll take this over to Dramacrazy/Animecrazy site. I just wanted to let any who are here know how much I and others it seems appreciate their hard work :3 Also I appreciate the work of the staff here too!

I don't know...
One of the first articles here on MDL was with a subber named Eric, he has done quite a lot, if I remember correctly.

I'm also fansubbing, but that's to Lithuanian [and from English subs, that is], so it's not exactly the same, I guess.

I think it's the same thing. Sure it's not English but you're subbing from other countries. :3 Like how Chinese subs for Japanese/Korean drama, I've even seen RUssian/Spanish subs for them and etc. I think subbers from all over deserve an appreciation thread. ^^

I think it's the same too Catnip! You are doing something that should be appreciated! :)

Well yes, overall it is subbing and all that, but you seem to be looking for real fansubbers, so in that sense I cannot compare to groups such as WITHS2 or the others you've mentioned. That's what I meant.
