Hello, I couldn't understand how the tags work in MDL. For example, I clicked  the " Arranged Marriage" tag, but I came across many TV series that did not belong to this genre. Does anyone else see this as a problem?

It's pretty simple. Users submit an edit to add the tag arranged marriage, and they have to add an explanation of how this tag applies to the show/who in the show is the arranged marriage between. Then the approval staff decide if it applies or not and approve it.

I obviously have not seen all the titles tagged with it, so I'm not sure which titles you don't think belong tagged with it, but any user ca submit an edit to remove tags that don't fit the drama. But you must also provide an explanation of how there is no arranged marriage in the title.

So that means the tag is not about the main plot. For example Crash Landing on You  is the first show i see when i cliked to "Arrenged Marriage" but its not about arranged marriage. Its just one of the charecter's side story. This is not how i wish it to be because if i want to watch a show about "Arranged Marriage" CLOY wouldn't even be in my top 50 list to recommend and its definitely not i am looking for.

But whatever, now i understand how it works. Thank you for explaning.

For most tags, they should be used if they apply to the main plot or main characters. In the case of Crash Landing on You, the Arranged Marriage is between the ML and SFL (two leads), so that is most likely why it is there. While most probably search for it hoping to see it between the first leads, that won't be the case all the time. Some users might think it is important just knowing the fact the ML is engaged to someone else. They may not like that fact, and what to avoid the show, so that tag would be in fact important to them.

It all depends on really for why users search a tag. Would they search it hoping to see the arranged marriage between the main couple, to know if any lead at all if engaged (no matter to whom), to avoid the tags, or whatever else may be the case?

It can definitely be confusing when tags don’t seem to match the content you’re expecting. On MDL, tags like "Arranged Marriage" are often user-generated and can sometimes be applied broadly, even if the theme is only a minor part of the story. This inconsistency can make it tricky to find shows that truly fit the genre you’re looking for.

Yep. I am not trying to use it anymore
