I don't know if this happens to others, but I tend to have a hard time finishing a lot of k-dramas. The only answers I have come up with is the show itself being too dramatic, for an example, unrealistic situations, and just too much going on at a time. Also due too certain actors/actresses roles turning me off. I'm not entirely sure if these are the correct reasons but it has been the only answer I can come up with. So I want to know if anyone has this problem, and if you know why it happens.

I've been having this problem a bit lately. For me it's usually because I can't bring myself to like a main character (often it's the lead female) or the story is progressing too slowly with too many made up fights about absolutely nothing (which the characters would know if they would just TALK TO EACH OTHER!)

I had set a drama watching challenge for myself a while back but had been lazy with it lately. Working on that seems to have helped me move past this a bit.

As for why it happens, I suppose watching dramas is like any other hobby. Sometimes you just need a break from it.
this is me from a month ago.i used to never skip any scenes or drop a drama but then i started to never complete them.the reasons you listed are probably the same for me.

to solve this, first i started to watch movies and now im into japanese dramas.a little bit genre chance maybe also be helpful for you too :)
I happened to me also, it wasn't that the dramas were bad but I used to lose interest around 3/4 of the drama until I just decided to switch over to Jdramas since they tend to be only 10 eps. I think the dragging of the plot in the middle was one of the main issues for me and also I often disliked the male lead
thanks for the responses.

@asliceofkate: i often dont like the female lead as well but im not sure the problem lies with giving it a break, though it may be that way for you. since i watch a lot of other shows and often times i go months without watching any dramas. the reason i relate it to k-dramas is because when i watch j-dramas it hardly ever happens. but i agree with you when you say slow progression.

@blg: i know right, i love j-dramas.

@sylwia: yeah another person commented on slow progression. and thats kinda weird, i often like the male lead, its usually the female lead that i end up disliking.
I've started tens of Korean dramas and only finished... three(?) of them. My biggest problems are:

1. I don't like stories that consist mostly of romance.
2. Lack of realism and over-used rom-com clichés.
3. I'm not a fan of Korean humour.
4. The episodes are really long. The series are really long. xD I don't have the attention span for 20+ 1 hour 5 minutes episodes, especially when there's a lot of filler.
(5. Superficial reason: I don't like the way Korean women do their makeup. Their lipstick is ugly. =P)

But when I do find a K-drama I like, I can't stop watching. I think Korean drama is good at what it does, you just have to find the right one.
I usually have an issue with completing Korean dramas as well.
They are too lengthy for me and often the episodes are full of filler/predictable plot lines and bad acting/characters.
By the midway point of a kdrama series, I have an idea of where the story line is going and that's usually when I start fast forwarding.

:)
I have and equal amount of unfinished drama's as I do one's I've completed. I've tried going back an finishing some, only to realize why I stopped in the first place.
I don't usually drop dramas, probably because I'm pretty picky in the first place and usually look up trailer/storyline/actors to make sure I'll will like it.
As for the dramas I've dropped, I'd say it's mostly because of the length combined with a lack of time. If I'm totally hooked on a drama, I'd watch an episode every (other) day, but if it's not thrilling enough and I allow too much time to go by. And when I get to watch again, instead of picking up the drama I already started I might be more inclined to begin a new one.

Edit: Btw, is there a way to remove dramas from your plan to watch list? I found no other way than to "drop" them :/ although logically speaking, that's not right since i never started watching them...
@Nezumi: after clicking edit button on something atyour plan to watch list, there is a "Delete?" button at the bottom of edit box :)
Yes, someone sent me a pm as well, explaining it ^^ i feel stupid now xD
Thanks anyways o/
i figured i might have been alone here. since k-dramas get all the love, i was thinking that i was the only one who dropped almost as much as i finished. and for the reasons i had a couple that came up and i was able to relate to a lot of them.

since we are like minded in similar ways can anyone suggest some of their favorite dramas?

(K-dramas I never got bored with)
I know this feeling. Seeing my drama list on this website; 17 on-hold and 24 dropped. And that's probably not all of them.

This is mostly caused by exeggaration in a story. Especially when it comes to the personalities of female leads.
I think I've dropped more dramas then I've finished tbh. Life is too short for bad dramas. I use to feel bad about dropping dramas before. Now I don't.
