and if so why I ask why??

I cant believe how fantastic this drama is. I hadnt even heard of it, I was watching IRIS & a trailer for this was at the end of one of the episodes on dramacrazy and i checked it out and am so glad I did (although a couple of episodes back I had a " I need to put this drama in the fridge" moment :D but am ok now & on episode 17).

Just thought I would give it a plug. Its a historical drama. It has great action/fights (for those who like that sort of thing) beautifully shot, a lovely soundtrack and also several fit guys who take their shirts off quite a bit (which always helps I find!)

Nope. You are not the only one. I watched this about a year ago and loved it. It's one of my favorites and of course I rated it a 10. OMO! Such great acting and such a fast paced story for the most part. It is the first sauguk I watched that made me fully appreciate the genre. Jang Hyuk is simply amazing as Lee Dae Gil. He just owns it every moment he's on screen. At 24 episodes it's the perfect length. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Is there any romance in this drama? Or comedy?

Or is it a serious drama through and through??
I know people raved about it as one of the best, so I put it on my Plan to Watch list (which is almost 130 dramas long... *ahem* I should get around to that). I was going to marathon it during a lull in my currently airing dramas, but then I found out that Lee Da Hae is in it, and there's just something about her that irks me. Maybe I'm being too easily influenced by her Jang Miri character in Ripley---I don't really know what it is.

There is definitely comic relief but this is not a comedy.

Hmmm...what to say about this. I am not watching Ripley because on the whole, the premise isn't one that appeals to me. I admit I do peek in on Dramabeans recaps every once in a while and it seems she is doing a fine job of it...the character and her motivations are maddening, fraught with tension and seemingly have an "oh no you just didn't!" quality. It seems she is one actress that people are divided into two camps over. love her or hate her. I liked her in My Girl and Robber a lot and I didn't have any problem with her in Chuno either. I've since read that other people did. I guess it's up to you. But I would say don't let that drive you from not watching Chuno. Give it a shot and then decide for yourself. Chuno is a great drama...well worth your time. If you don't agree you can always drop it...and then come here and give me a virtual whip lashing if you don't agree! :-)

not that much comedy but the romance is epic a man searching high & low for the woman he loved for 10 years ...sigh

lol I had only seen lee da hae in MY Girl & I honestly didnt even recognise her in Chuno she looks & acts so different I say give it a go if you still cant stand her then drop it :)
MAJOR Spoilers in white Seriously...do not read if you haven't seen this.

The love story is shakespearean in its tragedy. Man you just FEEL for Dae Gil and his love turned to pain. It drives his every motivation. But what got me as well was his inability to let go and let in the love of Sul Hwa. Ultimatey it was that love lost that I pined for even more.

I feel that way about her too and for me, the reason is that she's confident - she knows she's pretty and all that, and she doesn't care if you know that she knows - but her confidence comes off as arrogance and conceitedness because of that. I mean, it's good to be confident but from watching and reading interviews of hers, she just seems too confident and that's why I don't like her.
