The next installment of abs parents watch K-Drama
episode 9

rightyo. Sunday afternoon rolls around, and my parents show up for their weekly dose of City Hunter.
We join YS, blood pouring down his arm, saving NN instead of doing his job (with a pissed dad watching from below). My parents are getting increasingly frustrated that NN doesn't recognise that the city hunter is YS 'look at his proportions, the way he walks, his hair! - surely she must have an inkling ??'
Whenever the dad shouts at YS for not doing what he's told my mum goes 'ooowwwwwhhhhhhh!!!!'. She loves those bits. Or maybe she just loves Kim Sang Joong . . . (arf arf arf) However, when the dad beats up ajussi she gets upset at him. Both dad and mum commentate that YS really hates it when people he loves are hurt - and they really enjoy him swooping him to save ajussi (when he beats the crap out of the dad's side-kick my dad says 'you hurt mine - i'll hurt yours!!') As YS's heart his more and more exposed, they are totally on his side. Don't touch those that I cherish, I will protect them is met with sounds of approval, and vigorous head-nodding. Mum keeps commentating that YS looks really different in this episode, but she can't put her finger on what it is. 'he looks really really sick, bless him'
Following the ex-wife helping him, my mum wonders whether SHE and YS will get together - which is then rubbished by dad, although he does wonder 'Does she like him?'
â?¦then we get to the best bitâ?¦ YS rushes off to see NN, and my mum tells him off again for going in all guns-blazing, all angry for her sitting outside - but that is promptly forgotten the second he rushes in and kisses her

AWHHHHHH, ABIGAIL !!! he's kissing her!!! [I [i]am sat right there, but mum verbalises EVERYTHING!]
About FLIPPING TIME!!!!! Now they can stop PRATTING AROUND!
she then just 'squee's through the entire scene, and 'ahhhh's when he holds her telling her she needs to be careful.
but when he leaves, she is heartbroken, and can't understand why he has to leave NN - why doesn't he just get her to move in with HIM if he's that worried about her!
When NN is fired, they can't understand why she's always getting blamed for everything - it wasn't her fault - she almost died, and now they're firing her? what sense does that make? The prosecutor continues to amass points, he's quick, has a good heart, and certainly not stupid. I think he's one of my dad's favourite characters. He likes that they have written his part intelligently, and he has hopes that he will join with the city hunter. [at which point I keep my mouth firmly shut, and try not to weep] During this episode he really starts to put together in his head that YS=CH, and they don't think it'll be long before YS'll get BUSTED (at which point I remind them that they are only just about half way through)
When NN (finally) realises that YS=CH, they are exceptionally glad, and think that now NN will join him (because they really don't think ajussi cuts it - especially as the dad's backup is the ex-cop/fighter chappy). We head towards the end of the ep with the main players in the hospital, and the dad having killed people. They are glad that now the heat will be taken off YS (as he can't possibly have done it - and he's right there with the prosecutor), but not at all happy that innocent people have been killed.
as an aside -- The first time through, the dad only really registered in my head as a baddie, but as I'm watching this with my mum, who is totally all fan-girling him, I'm watching him with a renewed appreciation. He's actually really good looking', and he looks particularly good in a white shirt (methinks), I can totally get why mum is into him.
As the screen theme tune plays, my mum looks at my dad and says 'we could watch the next episode today - it is still early . . . . . . . . ?' so we roll straight into episode 10
As the evidence keeps pointing the prosecutor towards the fact that YS=CH, my mum continues to voice that she can't see how this is going to end well. And she is quite anxious that he's going to get caught.
NN recognised YS's mum straight away, then they find out mum's got leukaemia (oh no!)but they are both glad when NN finds out she's sick - because she can bring them together. They are both desperate that YS finds out the truth that he wasn't abandoned. Both my parents become emotional when mum is weeping holding her baby's clothes, and comment (again) at how well written this is, and how much they are enjoying watching it. As ajussi's evolvement is explained they feel sorry for ajussi, and are glad for him that he's told YS everything. Then there's more judo ! Yay! laughy laughy.
When NN confesses to YS, they are both really proud of her, and her comments are met with more approving sounds and more head nodding, although my mum becomes increasingly frustrated as the episode progresses that YS is mean to NN (although my dad tries to explain that it's for her own good, and he can't have her loving him, and he's got a job to do - she still hates that he pretends to be horrible - although mum LOVES it when NN calls YS 'despicable jerk'). They think it's adorable that she pats herself on the head (and I half expect my dad in the future to start patting me on the head - something which has never done!).
During this whole episode my dad increasingly says how much he like the soundtrack, and how much the music fits each scene really really well. I have now downloaded the score and the soundtrack(s), and dad was well chuffed when I gave him the CDs. ^^
Another thing that my mum keeps mentioning this episode is just how incredibly well clothed Lee Min Ho is, she is really taken by what a 'snappy dresser' he is, and 'it helps that he's so tall, and handsome - without a scrap of fat on him' and with awesomely tall legs (we're all short btw). They really want YS to help his mum, and mum found it hard to watch when YS had to go up to the roof to scream - she just wants them to fix it all, and understand the whole situation, but with NN now knowing more, surely that will only help, right?! They both enjoy the three on one fight sequence plus getting the blood back (especially the dropping between window ledges) - and then NN grabbed him at the end!

Now HE knows, that SHE knows!!! ACE! Now will the double act begin? Will she help him - she must��

My mum has now started again from the beginning, because 'when I started I didn't really think I would like it, but now I love it, I want to watch the beginning episodes again!' I've told her that we can watch something else as well - so recommendations on my mothers behalf would be most appreciated! They are still enjoying more than they ever thought possible - and I am excited when I think what's coming, and how they will react to it all!
