MBC’s The Moon Embracing the Sun Ends at Episode 20 Without Extension


With the rising popularity, the sayings about the extension of MBC TV Wednesday and Thursday drama The Moon that Embraces the Sun has been proposed continuously, but the drama will end at 20 episodes according to original plan.

An official of TV station told TVReport through phone on February 21st, 2012, “The Moon that Embraces the Sun is not extended, will end at episode 20 on March 8th, 2012 according to project intent in the beginning.”

Prior to that, the rating for first episode of The Moon that Embraces the Sun hit 18.0%, and the rating has even surged to 38.4% on episode 13 broadcast on February 15th, 2012, becoming the most popular drama in 2012. Currently, all the actors including the child actors have gained popularity with the viewers, the commercial slots that aired before and after the drama have also been sold out, and that’s the benefits of been popular drama. In this regard, MBC expressed that there were special discussions about the proposal to extend the drama by 4 episodes, but ultimately decided to end as originally planned.



The official said: “As far as I know there are 6 episodes remaining from the last episode, if there is an increase of 4 episodes, the story will be somewhat dragged on. MBC also accepted the decision to complete the drama in accordance with the plan.”

In addition, in the episode 14, the scene of Wol (Han Ga In) regains her memory was broadcast, so the story will enter a new phase.

Prior to that, I read this one (below) and got confused this morning:

King 2 Hearts Debuts March 14 – TMTETS Is Not Extended

The promotion for the new drama series King 2 Hearts officially begins.

MBC officially launches the official website for the new Wednesday and Thursday drama series King 2 Hearts (directed by Lee Jae-gyoo and screenplay by Hong sisters) on February 20th, 2012.

On the website, a countdown timer of D-23 is displayed, indicating that March 14, 2012 will the day of the premiere of first episode. With the debut of King 2 Hearts on March 14, 2012, naturally the currently airing The Moon that Embraces the Sun will end at March 8, 2012 with 20 episodes, which means that the popular drama is not extended.

Meanwhile, the production company of King 2 Hearts, Kim Jong Hak Production published the stills of the script practicing, becoming discussion subject. On the day, the main actors Ha Ji Won, Lee Seung Gi, Yoon Je Mun, Lee Yun Ji, Jo Jung Seok and others gathered to coordinate on acting.

I think they are more afraid that the ratings will go down. But who cares? Thanks God it ends at 20 episodes. I've wasted too much of my precious time with this disappointing drama.

That's sad to hear. Things got better for me on Episode 14. What part did you get disappointed at? I have some reservation on some parts but like what Lis has been saying, I somehow suspend my disbelief.

It was okay until episode 7, then the feeling of disappointment started. Now I saw a little improving in episode 14, too, but I will maintain the same opinion until episode 16. If it gets better and better, of course that I would be happy but when I will rate it I will remember about the annoying episodes.

Hmmm Then I'm not sure it has been. The Facebook person said she was taking orders, but provided no proof. I find it slightly suspicious. Or maybe I'm just paranoid lol
