1. The villain has some kind of connection with the protagonist from the past. Example: The Guest,Beyond evil, The Penthouse.
2. The villain will always be a Chaebol or someone in a high position in society. Example: The Guest,Beyond evil, The Penthouse,Stranger, Signal, Psychopath Diary, Memorist
3. The Protagonist has the capability of noticing hidden clue before any of the side character and he figure everything by himself. Which made everyone in their team look dumb.

Whoa!!! It's going to take a lot (LOT) of thought to rule out those particular tropes. I'm sure it can be done though. I'm looking forward to you hopefully getting several answers.

Thanx. I hope so cause I've yet to watch so many highly praised thrillers.

Woah that is a lot of tropes to rule out most dramas. The no2 esp is to not see as a trope in criminal dramas, the rich and powerful always gets away because they have the upper hand. that is why the thriller part is of being able to catch them despite their advantages...

Not all scenarios are absent but i think they did fairly well away from most known thriller tropes:

  • Through The Darkness
  • Strangers from Hell

Or how about try non Kdrama:

  • Reset
  • Mr. Hiragii's Homeroom

Good question you got there.

Bad Guys - there are villains plural and not all of them are high society people. And the protagonist is basically the whole team so they all find different clues. Yes, some villains are connected with their pasts. not childhood pasts though. Just a few years back. At least in Bad Guys 1. There's a part 2 which is a different story altogether but i don't remember much and i think even though they may not have past connection, probably the villain is a high society person... So might not satisfy all conditions however i suggest you check it out to be sure.

Girl who sees scents - has a super natural element and the villain is somebody who hurt someone close to protagonist i think but how far back that is - depends on definition of connection to past

If i think of more or better fitting I'll get back lol.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.  I'm not sure if it's a trope or not but it is a pattern that I got tired of recently even though previously it didn't bother me. I think evil doesn't need to belong to a certain social class for it to be thrilling. I have seen Stranger from hell, Reset, Mr. Hiragi's Homeroom. They were intense yet refreshing.  I will check Through the Darkness.

That was really helpful. Bad guys only has 11 episodes which is such a relief.

In case, you're still looking - Evil Minds - I am currently watching this one. It does not have the first 2 tropes for sure. The third one, well, I wouldn't say the rest of the team looks dumb, a lot of forensics, legwork and evidence are collected as a team, and the protagonist is just profiling based on information that is given by the team most of the time. But yes, he is somewhat better at solving things - (kinda reminds of LJH in Signal if I'm remembering right..)

Anyway I like it so far and think you can check it out.

Woah! I'm surprised that you remembered. "Evil Minds" looks intense and dark. Will check it out soon.
