@blimarch

I feel the same, it is like I am re-reading this scenes from the novel again, this time with a deeper understanding. Wish there was more to read.

<3 <3 And knowing that we're not only reading the novel/watching the drama each of us on our own, but sharing the experience with people from all over the world, here on MDL and on social medias, is so wholesome, captivating and stimulating!

And another thing that I find compelling is the "transmedia storytelling". The drama and the novel seem to be intricate and at the same time, to evolve in "parallel worlds". The drama complements the novel but at the same time, the drama isn't the novel.

We have a deeper understanding to some aspects of Tong Hua's work thanks to the drama, due to the fact that we have access to XL's psychology and thanks to additional scenes made to flesh out characterization and the "mise-en-scène".

But the drama has some divergences from the novel. And based on the leaked script, we're likely going to cough blood and our hair will turn white before the end of season 2. I tend to assume that the author's vision as per the novel hasn't been respected (even knowing Tong Hua has herself worked on the script). Also, the TV/Web format of a show adapted and produced within the framework of 2023's Chinese movie industry can't/don't need to recreate the reader's experience.

Anyway, be it the novel or the drama, each has a special place in our hearts.

final suicide may be to get Xiangliu to return to her.

After Xiaoyao learned that Xuanxuan had killed Jing, she collapsed and made an appointment with Xuanxuan to commit suicide in Fenghuang Forest.
When I was reading the book, I was thinking, didn't she think about Xiang Liu and Lover Gu before she committed suicide? Didn't she think that she would lead to Xiang Liu's death? She is so kind, devoted, and good-natured to everyone around her. How come she alone doesn't care about Xiang Liu's life or death? She knew Xiang Liu so well and knew how important it was to Xiang Liu to devote his life to Shennong. It was precisely because of this understanding that she was willing to help him and bury their feelings. Then how could she bear to let him accompany her before the decisive battle? What if you die and cannot go to Enyi?
It was impossible for her to forget the lover's poison. In the past few decades, Jing and Xingxuan had been trying to find ways to cure her of the poison. She was the only one who didn't care and took her time. Even if Xuanyuan Shennong went to war, she had never been in a hurry to get rid of the poison. To resolve the poison, she knew that Xiang Liu was going to die in the battle, but she was not afraid of being implicated by him even once. Before Feng Long was about to leave the army, he asked Xiao Yao to wish him success. Xiao Yao couldn't say it because she didn't want Xiang Liu to die in the battle. It's not that she was afraid that Xiang Liu's death would affect her, so I always felt that her attitude towards her lover Gu was deliberate. She wanted to use Gu as an excuse to save Xiang Liu's life at the last moment of the battle in Xuanyuan Shennong. (Referring to the first thing she asked Xuanxuan to let go of Xiang Liu, it is a completely reasonable conjecture that she kept her lover Gu to protect Xiang Liu.) If this is the case, then it is impossible that she did not

consider Xiang Liu when she committed suicide. Liu, not to mention that when she woke up after being rescued in Yushan, her first thought was that Xiang Liu had saved her again. When she saw the figure in white, her first reaction was that it was Xiang Liu, which meant that she had definitely thought that Xiang Liu would save her. Since After thinking about it, she should understand that there are only two consequences of suicide. One is that Xiang Liu will die with her, and the other is that Xiang Liu will save her and she will not die. And the second possibility is more likely. Xiang Liu has nine lives, and Merlin can be saved even if her body is riddled with holes. This time she just took poison, so there is a high probability that she can be saved.
If Xiaoyao has thought of this, it is reasonable to speculate that part of her purpose of committing suicide is to want Xiang Liu to return to her. She has actually regretted her promise to never meet Xiang Liu when they broke up in Hulu Lake, but she also I want to save face, but there is no chance to break the ice. I guess she actually missed 37 years, the 37 years of carefree and gentle companionship. She probably thought that she had committed suicide. Xiang Liu would spend decades with her again, and Xiang Liu wanted to save her life. It is impossible for Xuan to attack Shennong at this time, and Xiang Liu can live again. She should be motivated by
1. not knowing how to face such a brother.
2. Jing died, and her brother stabbed her in the back, leaving only Xiang Liu to rely on ( Considering that Xiaoyao has always needed someone to rely on, and there is no issue of position without her brother), the only way to reunite with Xiang Liu is death. 3. Wanting to live the same life with Xiang Liu
for 37 years again. 4.
Keeping Xiang Liu alive
has multiple purposes. Suicide is a sufficient reason. It's not just that his brain shut down because he couldn't accept his brother killing his lover.

Let’s look at the suicide method she chose - taking poison. She did not choose something more extreme like wiping her neck. On the one hand, poison is her specialty. There are also the following reasons: 1. She also planned to be revived by Xiang Liu, so that her body would be less injured
.
2. The appearance of death is too ugly. If Xiang Liu came to save her, who wouldn’t want to be beautiful in front of Bai Yueguang?
3. Xiang Liu is not afraid of poison. The impact of her taking poison on Xiang Liu may be smaller than other ways of death.
4. Revenge against Xiang Liu :Aren’t you going to break up with me? Aren’t you laughing at me all the time but I can’t poison you to death? Then I will take the poison I made for you myself this time, so that you can also taste the feeling of being poisoned. What do you do? Do you care about me or not?
--------------------------------------------------
Of course you can All this is just my imagination. Xiaoyao has never thought about it at all. She simply doesn’t care about Xiang Liu’s life, so let’s just treat her as heartless. But this is actually better, isn’t it? ?

When Feng Long was killed, she was so angry that when she wanted to kill Xiang Liu, she didn't care whether she would die with him; if Xiang Liu died in battle, she didn't care whether she would die with him; when she committed suicide, she didn't care whether Xiang Liu would die with him. What does it mean? It shows that she doesn't care at all about dying with Xiang Liu. It doesn't matter whether she dies with him or he dies with her. She has accepted the fate of living and dying with Xiang Liu. She has accepted her fate. She even subconsciously admitted that she He and Xiang Liu are one and the same.
Think about it, she would rather kill herself than her brother. When Jing died, she did not commit suicide to die for her love, but only Xiang Liu could live and die together. Maybe she also thought about it in the years after Jing died, what if In the end, we can't save Xiang Liu, and he insists on dying on the battlefield, so let's die with him and our hearts together. What's the big deal? We can't be together alive, and there's no point or kindness in death, right? He will accompany you on the road to hell. , it will never be boring.

Xiaoyao never owed her brother or Jing, but she was willing to owe it to Xiang Liu, even dragging him to death. Xiang Liu had saved her so many times, and he didn't feel sorry for her. She was the first to deal with danger. The first thing she thought of was that Xiang Liu would come to save her. She pretended to be attacked in the sea to trick Xiang Liu into coming back. Wasn't it because she believed that Xiang Liu would protect her? When she finally broke up, she said that I gave you blood for everything I thought I owed you. , doesn’t it mean that she knew that she owed Xiang Liu, but she had never thought about returning the favor before, because in her heart, Xiang Liu was one of her own! He is one of his own people!

Haha ~ It's amazing, a person who is on the opposite side of the spectrum, a person who can live and die together, who has to consider whether he is a friend or not.

Xiaoyao said if I die again and you renew my life one more time, will I become (____) like you? Please fill in the blanks . Anyway, this sentence has proved that Xiaoyao thought about dying again and letting Xiang Liu save her again, so what exactly was she thinking when she committed suicide...

 windiaaa041293:
At this time, Xiaoyao really realized that he was going to lose Xiang Liu.

Notably, this is also when her depression begins.

 windiaaa041293:
When were the ice crystal balls made? I think that's after this.

The novel said she made it after CX took the throne. The implication seemed to be that she started collecting the materials for it right after CX took the throne in chapter 28. Since it then took time to assemble the items and after it was assembled she contact Chi Sui Xian through CX and eventually had it sent to the north where it stayed for another four years. She was already engaged to Feng Long before CX took the throne, so the motivation to create that scene was already there before her interaction with XL/FFB in chapter 29.

But since the novel doesn't mention the timing precisely and it seems like not much time passes between CX taking the throne in chapter 28 and XY meeting FFB in chapter 29 (it's still summer), it's possible that she might not have started making the ice crystal ball until the end of chapter 29.

Chapter 31:

Xiao Yao wrote back that she would return to Gao Xing after she did a final personal matter.

Xiao Yao went through Yu Jiang to contact Chi Sui Xian to ask her to dig up something that Xiao Yao asked her to bury a few years ago.

After Zhuan Xu assumed the throne, Xiao Yao used her position for the first time in her life to have precious treasures from around the vast wilderness collected and brought to her.

From the Northeast tops of the Snow Mountain, she collected a piece of Snow Mountain Ice Essence. It grew on the tops of the Snow Mountain and itself was not poisonous. But if something poisonous went inside when it was forming, then it would soak up the poison and after tens of thousands of years it would become one of the most poisonous things in the world. This particular Ice Essence that Xiao Yao found happened to have an injured ice worm demon crawl inside so after countless thousands of years underneath Snow Mountain, it had become a piece of extremely rare poisonous ice. It appeared like a beautiful piece of icy jade but actually exuded a poisonous aura that could pierce straight to the heart.

Xiao Yao used all her effort to carve this piece of poisonous Ice Essence into the shape of a sea clam shell, she carved two sides of an exquisite white clam shell with wave ripples along the edges. When it was opened it resembled a blooming flower.

Xiao Yao then used all sorts of exotic herbs and poisons to create two merpeople. She put the mermaid on the clam shell and she put the merman in the corner away from the clam shell. Xiao Yao also made red coral and colorful little fish.

After it was all completed, Xiao Yao brought out the ice crystals collected from the North Pole and had a specialist split it open and hollow it out. She put the red coral in first and secured it on the bottom. Then she mixed up a batch of poisons with Jade Mountain bone essence to create a blue liquid suspension that she filled the ice crystal ball with so it appeared like blue water. She then put the clam shell with the mermaid and the merman carefully inside the poisonous liquid and surrounded it with the colorful fish. She then closed up the ice crystal ball and used her spiritual power to temporarily seal it.

To permanently seal back up an opened ice crystal required that it be returned to the North Pole and placed back inside the ice mountains. Then a powerful ice spirit god or goddess would then create a spiritual maze around it. After two or three more years, the opened up ice crystal would permanently seal back up without any signs it had ever been opened.

Back then when Xiao Yao finished to the final step, she racked her brains and remembered the most powerful ice power god in the vast wilderness was Chi Sui Xian. She asked Zhuan Xu if she could ask Xian to help and he said “You found the right person. I’ll have Yu Jiang ask her for help. That ice goddess is quite warm towards Yu Jiang.”

When Xian came to see Xiao Yao, she thought Xian would look down on her for asking such a powerful goddess to do such a little favor. But when Xian saw Xiao Yao’s creation she exclaimed “It’s so beautiful! You must have spent a lot of time?

Xiao Yao nodded.

Xian said “I’ll help you seal it into the ice mountain in the North Pole. When you need to retrieve it, just have someone send me a message.”

Four years had passed and now Xiao Yao needed to take it out. When Xian brought the ice crystal back, she placed it on a dish and it was covered with more ice so looked just like a regular chunk of ice crystal dug out from the North Pole.

 windiaaa041293:
"Actually, for a general, the best ending is to die on the battlefield." It is the best ending, but it is not an inevitable ending.

If it was inevitable, then it wouldn't be a choice. As XY says in chapter 51, it is the ending that he chose for himself.

 windiaaa041293:
But Xiang Liu’s perspective is: This woman lied to me! He went to Wushen Mountain to force Xiaoyao to kiss him because he wanted to confirm whether Xiaoyao was still Xiaoliu. In the original work, we first planted a gu and then traveled to the bottom of the sea together for at least ten hours and spent more than a thousand times before we had this forced kiss. It was nothing more than asking, will you be the same as before when you regain your true body? (This logic does not make sense in the drama)

I agree that since the drama has XL create a bubble around them instead of having XL and WXL exchange many air-sharing "kisses" under water after the bug is transferred, it really changes the logic of the scene in episode 19 when XY is suddenly no longer willing to engage in the same kind of air-sharing "kiss" with him.

 windiaaa041293:
Xiang Liu understood what Xiaoyao was afraid of, she was afraid of losing. Due to the issue of stance, the person who initially stood in the way was Xiaoyao, not Xiang Liu. If his stance blocked Xiang Liu from the beginning, then when he found out that Xiaoliu was Gao Xin Da Wangji, he already knew that he and her were on opposite sides. If he wanted to give up on this relationship, it would be unnecessary to go to Wushen Mountain, and he would just end up dead. Just smile and forget each other in the world.

I don't fully agree that XL knew that XY was afraid of losing people / being abandoned by her loved ones at this point in the story (when XY's true identity was revealed). He wasn't aware of most of her family-related trauma the way CX and TSJ were. He knew she hated being lonely. He knew she felt discarded and alone. And I think that's an important difference given how he chooses to interact with her (constantly trying to alleviate her loneliness), especially in the first half of the novel.

It sounds like the author of this article is saying that they think XL had not yet decided to die with the remnant army on the battlefield by the time he first met with XY after her true identity was revealed, because if he had then he would not have tried to meet with XY after her identity was revealed and would simply have tried to forget her before his death.

I strongly disagree with that take. If that was his approach to things based on his decision to die with the army, then he wouldn't have taken on the bug or gotten close to anyone, regardless of their identity. A relationship doesn't only have value if it's forever. A temporary relationship can have huge value. If XL already knew that he was going to die on the battlefield with remnant army (by choice, not as a matter of inevitability) and also chose to meet XY after discovering her true form, I don't see any contradiction in that.

Especially after XY draws a line between them in that meeting. He can't play a particular role in her life (the role of a man who might enter her romantic dreams, as that notion scares her). That's fine. Then he meets her as the not-scary and totally over-the-top flirt FFB (lucky that he also has a different identity to switch to that works so well for meeting with XY). With that persona, he continues to be the temporary companion who alleviates her loneliness. He can even ramp it up to the point where they met up every few days. And now he can help her gain the ability to protect herself. Which is important, in part, because he won't always be there to protect her himself.

 windiaaa041293:
Combined with the following article, "Last night, when she found out that he was Xiang Liu, she didn't feel surprised at all. It was as if everything should be like this. Even a corner of her heart was relieved, but at the same time, another corner was hanging."

 windiaaa041293:
I was relieved to learn that Bei was Xiang Liu. It turned out that Xiang Liu would really treat me like this. It turned out that the person who had been with me in the past two years was the person I had hidden in my heart. Another corner hung up, but in the end Bei was still Xiang Liu, and he was still the enemy of my brother and my grandfather.

I agree with this interpretation.

 windiaaa041293:
And I believe that it is impossible for Xiang Liu not to investigate the truth behind Xiaoyao’s torture and murder. Although there is no mention of this in the book, not checking is completely inconsistent with Xiang Liu's style of conduct. I always feel that when Fangfengbei took Xiaoyao to Li Rong's Donkey Meat Restaurant later, he already knew her life experience. One of the reasons for taking her there was to prepare her for someone who knew her life experience in the future. A place to explore and talk.

I also think XL knew her identity when he took her there, and that he took her there intentionally to meet the one-armed veteran Li Rong for that reason.

 windiaaa041293:
It's not that Xiang Liu doesn't know what Xiaoyao wants, but he knows that he can't give her what she wants. At this time, Tu Shanjing was heartbroken and asked for death. This not only had an impact on Xiaoyao, who was rejected by Xiang Liu, but also had an impact on Xian Liu. It's not that he would approve of this behavior, but in comparison, he understood that Tu Shanjing was more capable than him in giving Xiaoyao what he wanted - unwavering companionship.

I agree with this.

 windiaaa041293:
Xiang Liu already knew that Xiaoyao was conscious for thirty-seven years at the bottom of the sea.

"Bei stretched out his hand, as if he wanted to caress Xiao Yao's cheek, but as soon as he touched Xiao Yao, he suddenly retracted his hand, glanced behind Xiao Yao, and mocked disdainfully: "You can still save me like this? Do you deserve it? ""

It turned out that she knew everything, she actually knew everything, and she actually understood everything she had hidden. The hand that touched her cheek at that moment was filled with emotions that were ready to come out. I want to tell her that it's okay, this is already good. I want to tell her that I love you.

By the way, what motivates the OP to say that XL knew that XY was conscious the whole time during  the 37 healing years under the sea ? And when does she thinks XL realized that (or maybe he knew all along but he relied on the unspoken things between him and XY to be buried under the sea?)

Is it based on the fact that XY said out loud details about XL's story (the fact that XL escaped from the death match arena, the fact that it was Gong Gong who saved him), that nobody apart him could have known, him and the seemingly "unconscious" her?

Chapter 22

Xiang Liu said “When I escaped from the slave death match arena, I was gravely injured all over. I almost died in an ocean tornado but it was my adoptive father who saved me. Back then, the Flame Emperor was still alive and the Sheng Nong Kingdom hadn’t yet been toppled. My adoptive father, along with Qi Yo and Zhu Rong, were the three greatest generals of the Sheng Nong Kingdom. He saved a runaway slave like me and I injured him. He didn’t mind because he saw I was gravely injured and might not survive. He taught me a method for healing through training my powers. He even wanted to take me to the Flame Emperor for medical treatment. But I didn’t trust him so I ran away.”

Xiao Yao wanted to hear more about Xiang Liu’s past with General Gong Gong but Xiang Liu didn’t continue and instead took Xiao Yao safely away from the ocean tornado.

[...]

Xiang Liu stopped talking and Xiao Yao was so anxious inside. She thought that he must’ve decided to leave the North Pole after meeting Fang Feng Bei there. But by then the Sheng Nong Kingdom had fallen and General Gong Gong was leading a paltry resistance army with all his family and friends abandoning him. Yet a certain Nine-headed demon actually willingly went to him, perhaps initially it was to repay a debt, but then Gong Gong truly bonded with him so adopted him as a son. One could repay a debt, but the bonds of love and affection are impossible to ever fully repay.

When she thought to here, Xiao Yao actually hated Gong Gong a little, but she felt her hatred really made no sense. So she just pouted and was angry at herself for being angry.

Chapter 23

Xiao Yao walked and talked “I was thinking that when you escaped the slave death match arena, wouldn’t it have been great if I was the one who saved you! If that was the case, then I would let you only be Fang Feng Bei! I really hate that I wasn’t born a few hundred years earlier. I would definitely find you in the slave death match arena…….”

Bei stopped and stared at Xiao Yao.

Xiao Yao turned and stared at him, their eyes meeting in the darkness, wanting to say more but not.

Bei reached out his hand as if to caress Xiao Yao’s cheek but the moment he touched her, he jerked his hand back. He glanced behind Xiao Yao and then smirked “Based on you right now wanting to save me? Are you worthy?”

Xiao Yao tried to explain “I’m not saying General Gong Gong isn’t a good guy, I just think, I just feel…..”

The OP's post intrigues me because I never thought that XL could have known that XY was conscious all along... But, now that I think about it: as XL and XY hearts are interconnected, he ought to have felt that XY's heart and her aura/brows sometimes reacted to whatever he said/did under the sea?

Chapter 22

Xiang Liu said “I’ll take you to the surface to look at the moon!”

Xiao Yao’s heart soared: Yes, yes!

Chapter 22

Xiao Yao wanted to hear sound but she heard nothing. She couldn’t sleep well at night and was moodily angry during, she was totally in a bad mood all the time.

When Xiang Liu came back, he went to check on Xiao Yao’s body and sensed that Xiao Yao was still not stirring and appeared the same as always, but there was this aura around her brows that was different.

[...]

Xiao Yao restfully fell asleep.

Xiang Liu lowered his eyes to look at her and smiled.

Sauvignon Blanc|About the fulfillment of the oath of cultivating Gu

"Everything you rejoice will become painful; everything you rejoice will become suffering."

"Everything you rejoice will become painful; everything you rejoice will become suffering."

Regarding this oath, there is a nonsense article, which can be interpreted from two levels.

On the surface, that is, in terms of the plot, what readers see directly is that Xiao Liu made a vow, and Xiang Liu finally used this vow to prevent the marriage. As for what Xiang Liu originally wanted to achieve with this oath? Everyone has their own inference. My personal inference is that when Xiang Liu was planting Gu, he had thought that if the day came that we could no longer be together, he would go with Xiao Liu to give her a future. Then maybe this oath is for Xiao Liu to accept that Xiang Liu will survive on her own after she kills the Gu herself.

This inference stems from Xiang Liu's killing of Gu at the end, and what Xiang Liu said before proposing this oath was "do something for me in the future . " The word "help" is very interesting. It means to help or assist, that is, something that one is unwilling to do, cannot do, or cannot do by oneself alone. Plant a love-related poison, but ask the other person to "help" you with something . What is the "help"? Some are like the meaning of the ice crystal ball, "I can't quit you, please help me." Xiang Liu initially asked to "do one thing for me." Perhaps the same is true. When I can't accompany you, please help me. Let's end this relationship together, cut off this connection, and live a good life in the future. Later, when this oath was used in the robbery, Xiaoyao thought of "I want to do something for him" , but the meaning actually changed. (I assume that the author forgot what he said earlier in the writing, or maybe I was too careful.

"Xiang Liu stood with his hands behind his hands, looking at the moon, silent. After a while, he said: "I can help you attract the poison to me, but you have to promise to do something for me in the future If I ask, you must do it. "

……

Xiang Liu asked coldly: "What if I break this oath?"

Xiaoliu thought for a while and said: "A thunderbolt from the sky? Shattered into pieces? With your stingy temperament, you will definitely not be satisfied. Tell me, what do you want me to end up with?"

"If you disobey it, everything you enjoy will become painful; everything you enjoy will become suffering."

A chill ran down Xiao Liu's back , "You're cruel!" Xiao Liu raised his hand and swore an oath to heaven and earth, "If I violate this oath, everything I enjoy will become pain; everything I enjoy will become suffering. ." He put down his hand and patted his chest, "Don't worry, I will definitely do it."

There was a smile on Xiang Liu's lips, "What should I worry about? It's your fault if you can't do it, not me." "

1-7 <The long road of life becomes long>

Fangfeng Bei said while fighting Chishui Xian: "Xiaoyao, do you still remember the poisonous oath you swore?" If you disobey it, everything you enjoy will become painful; everything you enjoy will become suffering. "

Xiaoyao's movements suddenly froze. She made a promise to Xiang Liu and would do something for him.

……

The oath I made back then is still in my ears: "If I break this oath, everything I enjoy will become painful; everything I enjoy will become suffering." But in the current situation, if I keep my promise, will there be no pain or suffering? ? Xiaoyao smiled miserably, whether she took this vow or not, she would never have peace in her life. "

2-15<Who does the shadow go to>

As for why you think the depth has another meaning? It comes from speculation about the author's purpose of writing.

"Everything you like will become pain; everything you enjoy will become suffering." This poisonous oath is so cruel that every word pierces the lungs and every sentence pierces the heart. Even if you just glance at the book, you can't ignore it. .

Similar to the inference in Yu Danzi's article, if only from a plot perspective, Yu Danzi can be replaced by a slightly inferior Yu Danhong, then this oath can also be replaced by a ready-made heaven and earth intolerance and heaven and earth destruction. Yes or no. But still, the author asked Xiang Liu to say an oath that not only sent a chill down Xiaoliu's spine, but also made readers shudder just looking at it. Therefore, this oath is not just a plot oath.

Based on the fact that Xiang Liu knew the truth about the Lover's Gu before he planted it, and he agreed to let Xiao Liu move the Gu and asked for an oath on the premise of knowing the truth, then from a writing perspective, this oath and the Lover's Gu are incompatible . Viewed in segments. But before planting the lover's poison, there is another very important point: Xiaoliu said "I will not leave Qingshui Town" when they first met.

"I will not leave Qingshui Town" is not an optional sentence. This was the condition that Xiaoliu had to put forward even if he was beaten to death. For Xiao Liu, this condition meant that Xiang Liu could not use him to poison Xuanyuan's generals or blackmail Gao Xin's nobles. But conversely, not leaving Qingshui Town is also a guarantee for Xiang Liu. Xiang Liu stared at Xiao Liu expressionlessly. After a long while, Xiang Liu said: "Okay!" Xiang Liu obviously also understood that Xiaoliu not leaving Qingshui Town would do more good than harm to him, which meant that this person would not participate in the battle between Shennong and Xuanyuan, and could always be under his control for his own use. It is safe for yourself and the Shennong Rebels.

It can be said that "I will not leave Qingshui Town" establishes a premise for the development of the relationship between Xiaoliu and Xiangliu, and is a two-way guarantee for Xiaoliu and Xiangliu. With this layer of protection in front of him, and the knowledge and understanding of Xiao Liu behind, he would have the trust that Xiang Liu would have when he hid in Xiao Liu's house to heal himself when he was injured.

The cultivation of Lover's Gu is also based on the premise of "I will not leave Qingshui Town". When Xiang Liu Haihai asked about his heart, he never thought that Xiao Liu would leave Qingshui Town, or would leave Qingshui Town so soon - after all, he would rather die than leave in the first place.

It is even conceivable that if Xiang Liu knew Xiao Liu's true identity before agreeing to move the Gu, or imagined that she would leave Qingshui Town, he might not agree to move the Gu. He is not a sticky person, he is a nine-life Xiangliu who is cruel to others and even more cruel to himself. Therefore, under such premise, Xiangliu will probably let his heart pull away early, so what kind of lover's poison is there? There were so many emotional entanglements with this Wang Ji.

"I will kill him before he leaves Qingshui Town, so you don't have to worry about how to remove the poison." Zhuanxu didn't really plant the poison at the beginning. He and Xiao Liu were not connected by life. From this sentence, it can be seen that he wanted to remove the poison from Xiao Liu. During Liu's Gu crisis, "removing the Gu" was not the only way at that time . You could also kill Zhuanxu. You can't kill twice once, you can't kill twice, you can't kill three times or four times. We have to believe that where there is a will, there is a way.

When Xiaoliu was forced to leave Qingshui Town, Xiangliu rushed to save her. "The sea is under your feet" because Xiangliu understood that Xiaoliu did not want to leave Qingshui Town on his own initiative. But when he discovers that Xiao Liu's true identity is Gao Xin Jiu Yao, it's a completely different story.

The drama version added a scene about crossing the same boat together. There is a sentence in it that I think is a complement to Shu Xiangliu's psychology: " In that case, why don't you go home?" - Go home, where is home? Xiang Liushang didn't know Xiao Liu's true identity, so he asked her since your friend is not the same traveler as you and you are safe now, why don't you go back to Qingshui Town?

Xiaoliu did not go back, but transformed into Gaoxin Dawangji. What does it mean to Xiang Liu? -She broke her promise. That's why he was so angry that he forced a kiss on Xiaoyao at the bottom of Wushen Mountain, asked her if she had deceived him, asked her if she was still the same as before, and asked her for an attitude.

"Everything you enjoy will become pain; everything you enjoy will become suffering." Breaking away from the relationship between the storyline and "doing one thing" and just thinking about the symbolic meaning of this oath, you will find that the meaning of this oath is To cash in, when Xiaoliu left Qingshui Town, the lead had already been laid. If an oath is a mirror, there are already cracks at this time.

Leaving Qingshui Town was the introduction, but what really made the vows come true and the mirror completely shattered was the lover's poison. As mentioned before, from a writing perspective, oaths and lover's poison cannot be viewed separately.

Lover Gu has been written in detail in another article. The Lover's Gu itself is an oath"Live with one heart, die with separation." "The parasol trees on the ground will grow old together, the eagles in the sky will not fly alone, and the mandarin ducks in the water will die together. "

Planting the lover's poison is already making a lifelong vow to never regret your feelings, to stay together until old age, and to share the same destiny. What is the purpose of adding a poisonous oath on top of the oath? It can only be a punishment for breaking the oath. How to break the oath of the lovely lover Gu?

The answer is - the phoenix tree is half dead, the eagle flies alone, and the mandarin duck loses its companion.

"Everything you like will become painful; everything you enjoy will become suffering." Under the setting of Lover Gu, not being with each other and not being able to die together is already a betrayal of Lover Gu's vow. The whole book of "Sauvignon Blanc" is inconsistent in its light and dark lines. The poisonous oath made on the surface was broken during the marriage robbery, and the poisonous oath on the secret line was fulfilled when Xiang Liu killed Gu and left Xiaoyao alone.

Working backwards, what are the conditions for the poisonous oath not to come true? Stay together for a lifetime, no matter how short or long the time is, love without regrets, and go to the ruins together hand in hand.

Xiang Liu’s three questions “Who do you want me to be?” and the four classic questions after the robbery are essentially the same question: Do you really know what you want?

It's not who you love, but what do you want?

"Who do you most want to be with for the rest of your life?" A brief companionship can last a lifetime!

It's a pity that Xiaoyao didn't explore the truth about Lover Gu at that time. She didn't know that her and Xiang Liu's fates had already been intertwined and inseparable in the rotation of the stars, and she didn't know that they were destined to live and die together. Otherwise, maybe she really If she could think clearly about the answer to the question "Who do I want to spend the rest of my life with most" as soon as possible instead of resisting thinking, she and Xiang Liu would not miss the last chance.

But I still won’t blame Xiaoyao.

Although Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao are each other's other selves in the world in the story, Xiang Liu is several hundred years older than Xiao Yao. When he appears, his growth is complete, while Xiao Yao's growth is in progress. She did not complete her growth in the story. Her real growth came from three losses - the loss of Jing, the loss of her cousin, and the loss of Xiang Liu, each time becoming more important. Xiaoyao keeps saying that her brother is the most important person to her, which is just a psychological hint. If you are really the most important person, then you should have told your brother that Fangfeng Bei is Xiang Liu, the person who has tried to kill you several times. Her brother was just more important than herself, but not more important than Xiang Liu.

I won't blame Xiang Liu either.

Because he has always treated Xiaoyao "as she is, not as she wants." Xiaoyao's growth is ultimately Xiaoyao's own subject. He can be a leader, but he will not force her. He always respects her wishes. Including her hesitation and struggle. He treats Xiaoyao like a big beast to a cub, giving you a sense of security that allows you to explore and experience everything, no matter joy or pain, and I will always be behind you. This is a supreme love.

I have always felt that the author forcefully let Yaoliu be , because based on the setting of Lover Gu, where hearts are connected and lifeblood is connected, and life and death are determined, what else can be an unbreakable barrier? The chasm of the position, the long-term dependence, the pain of loss after deep love, are vulnerable to the fate of being destined to die together. If the Lover's Gu can't even booby kill, and there is no solution at all, will Xiang Liu keep hiding the truth about the Lover's Gu? All the obstacles between Xiaoyao and Xiangliu collapsed the moment they planted the lover's poison.

If Lover Gu really has bugs, then the only bug is that the author chose to set up Xiang Liu to kill Gu with his life, thereby pushing Xiang Liu's sense of fate and Yao Liu's tragedy to the extreme. Among all the possible endings, choose the one that is most unsatisfactory for readers to convey the pain of loss like a sharp knife piercing the heart, allowing the heroine to repeatedly review the past and play a lot of things for the rest of her life after losing her loved one. Decrypt the game.

The story ends when Xiang Liu dies, Xiao Yao becomes sad and goes into seclusion with Jing. It neither ended with Xiaoyao's wedding and the unknown fate of Xiang Liu, nor did it end with the defeat and demise of the Shennong Rebel Army. The old man Gonggong was a masterpiece from beginning to end, and the author didn't even bother to mention that Gonggong was angry at Buzhoushan. Why?

Apart from wanting to finish it quickly, is there any other reason?

It seems that Yaoliu's be clearly stems from his stance: Xiang Liu stands on Gonggong's stance. Gonggong's stance stems from his statement in "Zeng Promise" that "if the country is lost in the future, Gonggong will have no choice but to die for the country." The promise or obsession. As such a "big" resistance, doesn't Gonggong even deserve an exclusive offline description? This is simply asking, is it really the position that hinders Xiaoyao and Xiang Liu?

Their attitude cannot stop Ah Heng and Chi You, and their attitude cannot stop A Nian from marrying Xingxuan. Standpoint is just an introduction to Yaoliu be.

If I have to put an attribution on the love between Yao and Liu, I think it would be a miss. The miss of separation without seeing each other after planting the poison, the miss of advancing and retreating outside the Dragon Bone Prison, the miss of waking up after thirty-seven years under the sea, the miss of knowing the truth about the lover's poison... The two people who were supposed to be together in life and death, The ending is life and death.

The apparent ending of the story is that there are three things that have not changed and three things that exist, and it is "May you be happy and worry-free for the rest of your life . But the ending of the secret pen is that all the joy will turn into pain, and all the joy will turn into suffering . This is the punishment for breaking the oath of Lover Gu. "Wish" you to be happy and worry-free, but can you really be happy and worry-free? It's not something Xiang Liu can decide.

Xiaoyao and Xiangliu didn't even say goodbye, so how could they let go? Is what "Sauvignon Blanc" conveys really the power of life? Life is more than living. How to smile when you see a beautiful rainbow when you are lovesick?

Whether the author deliberately left blank space or ended it hastily because of fatigue, I feel that the real life comes after the ending of the story. After Xiaoyao overcame her aversion to appearance changes and used the Zhuyan Flower to change her appearance and left Xuanyuan City, after Xiaoyao took the initiative to choose to go to Xiangliu's sea, and after she understood what she had given up and what she had missed in her pursuit of the past, After I truly understood in my heart that I had once completely possessed a grand and majestic love that no one knew existed. Then you will understand that in the twists and turns of fate, you have truly been blessed by the gentle breeze, drizzle, winter snow, and warm sun. It turns out that your self-righteousness for a hundred years is just a trap and a trapped beast.

In the story, Xiaoyao has two long-term escapes: one is his own origin, and the other is his feelings.

What is stated is origin. The book says , "She had thousands of opportunities to ask him, but she didn't come. When she came, it was already too late." Xiaoyao was almost pushed by the current situation, until it was inevitable and passive. Try to explore and accept the truth of your life experience.

What is not stated is the emotion. After learning the name of Lover Gu, she had four years to find out the truth about Lover Gu. However, Xiang Liu did not respond to her letter to Jiuli, so she kept waiting and delaying. She also had thousands of opportunities to ask Xiang Liu and the Witch King, but she never went. When she finally understood her parents' love, accepted her own origin, and finally wanted to take the initiative to answer Lover Gu's questions and face her true feelings, it was already too late.

Dreaming about thousands of mountains at noon, an arrow shot through the window. How many times in the middle of the night would Xiaoyao regret his hesitation and escape? If she had been brave enough to face her heart as soon as possible, and was willing to accept the truth no matter whether it was the beauty of flowers or the cruelty of blood, then would the endings of her and Xiang Liu be different?

As time goes by, I suddenly realize that it will be you for the rest of my life. The moonlit night is you, the blue sky is you, the mountain flowers are you, the winter snow is you, and the shadow that follows you like a shadow in the deep sea is you. All happiness seems to have nothing to do with you, but all joy is clearly closely related to you. Three-quarters of sweetness mixed with seventy-ones of bitterness, you can't love it, you can't forget it.

It turns out that the vows made when planting the Gu had already been fulfilled. I thought that the future would be about laughing together day and night, but only when my heart became empty did I realize that we were still only in the shadow world. I thought that the separation was just a matter of silence from now on, and the spring mountains were like black grass and smoke. I never thought that it would last forever and eventually come to an end. This hatred lasts forever.

This is both a gift and a punishment from fate.

 windiaaa041293:
In the moments when no one acknowledges or faces them, there is unconscious intimacy, but no one talks about it.

 windiaaa041293:
When Xiaoyao said:

 windiaaa041293:
""How great it would be if I saved you when you escaped from the death arena! In that case, I will let you just make Fangfengbei! I really wish I could have been born hundreds of years earlier. I would definitely go to the death arena to find you...""

 windiaaa041293:
Xiang Liu already knew that Xiaoyao was conscious for thirty-seven years at the bottom of the sea.

 windiaaa041293:
"Bei stretched out his hand, as if he wanted to caress Xiao Yao's cheek, but as soon as he touched Xiao Yao, he suddenly retracted his hand, glanced behind Xiao Yao, and mocked disdainfully: "You can still save me like this? Do you deserve it? ""

 windiaaa041293:
It turned out that she knew everything, she actually knew everything, and she actually understood everything she had hidden. The hand that touched her cheek at that moment was filled with emotions that were ready to come out. I want to tell her that it's okay, this is already good. I want to tell her that I love you.

 windiaaa041293:
But Jing's appearance finally made him wake up instantly and return to reality. He couldn't give it, and he couldn't let Xiaoyao bear the pain of losing it. He had already chosen his own path, and he had forced Xiaoyao to go her own way.

 windiaaa041293:
So much so that we later swam together under the sea:

"Xiang Liu said: "That's..."

"The love song of a shark when courting a mate."

"How do you know?" Xiang Liu looked at Xiao Yao suspiciously .

Xiaoyao pretended not to care and smiled: "I guess, legend has it that the singing of the sharks is very beautiful. Who else in the sea can have such beautiful singing besides the sharks?" Xiang Liu didn't want her to know that in her She didn't want Xiang Liu to know what he had done with her when she was in a coma. She knew that those hugs and companionships should be buried in the dark seabed! "

I'm not sure whether I agree with this take.

They might've made him wonder, but I'm not sure that XY's comments in this scene in chapter 23 made XL know for sure that XY was conscious during the 37 years in the clam shell, especially right in that moment. He told her that he had been a slave in the death match arena while they were on land in chapter 16, before she even knew that FFB was XL. Finding out that he was XL (a demon) in the next chapter would've further confirmed it.

Her comments suggest that she probably knew or guessed that Gong Gong either saved XL from the death match arena or sometime after XL escaped from the death match arena (the second option being what actually happened).

Let's think about what XY knew about XL that didn't come from things that XL told her in chapter 22 (during the 37 years of healing).

(1) XY knew that XL was a slave in the death match arena because he told her he was in chapter 16.

(2) Thanks to the report CX gave her and the conversation XY had with XL/FFB afterwards, XY knew that sometime after escaping from the death match arena XL ended up in the far north where he met FFB and agreed to take care of FFB's mother. She knew that he left the far north to fulfill that promise and that's when he started to be FFB.

(3) She knew that at some point after leaving the north and looking after FFB's mother, XL went to Gong Gong and joined his army, and later became Gong Gong's adopted son (as far as I can recall, Gong Gong being XL's adopted father is not mentioned before chapter 22, but XY seems comfortable revealing that she knew that Gong Gong was XL's adoptive father in chapter 35, so I'm assuming she must've known about that part of their relationship before chapter 22).

Based on that information and the information that XL gave her in chapter 22, XY was able to accurately speculate more about XL's relationship with Gong Gong. So I don't think it would be impossible for XY to guess (without the information that she learned from XL in chapter 22) that Gong Gong had either helped XL escape from the death match arena or that he had saved XL's life sometime after he escaped from the death match arena (again, the latter option being what actually happened) to incur the debt that caused XL to join the remnant army in the first place. XL was aware that XY had that other information, so he would also know that it would be possible for XY to make that guess.

The scene in chapter 26 also makes it seem like XL either wasn't aware that XY was awake during the 37 years, or at least wasn't certain that she was awake during the 37 years. XY certainly seems to think that he wasn't aware that she was awake.

Chapter 16:

Xiao Yao was angry and amused and shoved him. “Fang Feng Bei, you’re toying with me!”

Fang Feng Bei laughed and held onto her arm. “I told him that I was once a slave in the death battle matches, yet I survived.”

Xiao Yao stood still and stared in anger. “You lied to him!”

Fang Feng Bei smiled. “Hope is but a lie.”

Xiao Yao’s anger dissipated but she shook her head. “He is locked in a cage but he’s a very smart beast. He wouldn’t have believed you that easily. What else did you do?”

I used the code word that only the slaves in the death match battle arenas would know.

Xiao Yao was shocked. “Even the slave owners don’t know the code. How do you?”

Fang Feng Bei smiled. “Maybe I really was once a slave in the death match battles.

Xiao Yao stared at him for some time and murmured, “Who are you?”

Chapter 22:

Xiang Liu said “When I escaped from the slave death match arena, I was gravely injured all over. I almost died in a whirlpool but it was my adoptive father who saved me.

Xiao Yao wanted to hear more about Xiang Liu’s past with General Gong Gong but Xiang Liu didn’t continue and instead took Xiao Yao safely away from the whirlpool.

...

Xiang Liu said “The snowfall in the North Pole is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. To avoid my attackers, I escaped to the North Pole and hid there for over a hundred years. The snow there not only saved my life, it awakened an understanding in me and I transformed the healing technique my adoptive father taught me to learn a new powerful fighting style.”

...

One could repay a debt, but the bonds of love and affection are impossible to ever fully repay.

...

“A monster fish, and his fish jewel inside is even better than the fish amethyst you wear. But from now on you won’t need this stuff anymore.”

A strange sound reached them from within the water, it wasn’t the sound of musical instruments or the sound of people singing. But it was even more alluring than musical instruments, and even more pure and soulful than people singing. It was so beautiful as to defy description, it was the most beautiful sound Xiao Yao had ever heard in her life.

Xiang Liu said, “It’s mating season for the merpeople. This is the sound of their mating song and is purportedly the most beautiful sound in the world. The humans and the gods cannot ever hear it. Perhaps after you awaken you will be able to hear it.”

-----

Chapter 23:

Xiao Yao walked and talked. “I was thinking that when you escaped the slave death match arena, wouldn’t it have been great if I was the one who saved you? If that was the case, then I would let you only be Fang Feng Bei! I really hate that I wasn’t born a few hundred years earlier. I would definitely find you in the slave death match arena.

He glanced behind Xiao Yao and then smirked. “Based on you right now wanting to save me? Are you worthy?”

Xiao Yao tried to explain. “I’m not saying General Gong Gong isn’t a good guy. I just think, I just feel…..”

“Be quiet!” In that instant Bei appeared to don a full armor, wrapping himself tightly in a deadly aura.

-----

Chapter 26:

Xiao Yao suddenly stopped and strained to listen as a melodic singing drifted to her, so beautiful even her soul was quaking, it was a sound not to be heard in the world above. But Xiao Yao remembered that she heard it before.

Xiang Liu said “That’s….”

“The mating song of the merpeople.”

“How do you know?” Xiang Liu stared at Xiao Yao.

Xiao Yao acted nonchalantly with a smile. “I guessed it. Legend says the merpeople have incredibly melodic voices so from who else in the deep ocean but the merpeople to sing like that?” Xiang Liu didn’t want her to know that when she was unconscious the things he did with her, and she didn’t want him to know that she already knew. Their embraces and companionship, just let it be buried deep in the dark ocean depths!

Xiang Liu said, “The merpeople’s song is very beautiful but it’s also a weapon. Rumor has it that Gao Xing’s Prince Yen Long heard the sound of the merpeople and devised a kill attack from it.”

I was just thinking that when Xiao Yao was with Zhuan Xu or Jing, or even with Emperor Huangdi Jun, there would always be times when he suddenly thought of Xiang Liu, not to mention the fact that he later had a left ear. But it seems that after planting the Gu, in almost every scene where Xiao Yao and Xiang Liu get along, if no external force intervenes and no Xiang Liu takes the initiative to break it, Yao Liu only has each other, as if they were constructed in a cruel and ruthless reality. A dream that only belongs to the two of them.

During the ten hours they spent swimming together on the bottom of the sea, they were obviously avoiding pursuit, but it was like Xiang Liu was taking Xiao Liu on a trip. Xiang Liu was relaxed and defenseless, and Xiao Liu used a mirror to record his carefreeness.

The first time they met after regaining their identities, what Xiang Liu cared about was not Xiaoyao's true identity, but whether she had lied to him and why she would rather die than kiss him. Xiaoyao carefully felt his emotions, and even took out the poison for him to taste, but she refused to kiss him because she was afraid that he would fall into a dream like this.

Yao Bei traveled together for more than ten years, walking together in the bustling world, admiring all the beauty together, the vague intimacy of teaching archery, and the indescribable subtleties floating outside the casino.

When Fangfeng Bei was injured and hid in Xiaoyao's room, Xiaoyao didn't care what he did. Even if he was assassinated, he would save him first. Even when he went out to eat, he would carefully spread poison layer by layer, fearing that he would heal his injuries. be disturbed.

When they met again in Xiaozhurong Mansion, in front of Zhuanxu Jing, Fenlong Xinyue, the most noble Wang Ji in the whole wilderness directly asked a concubine from a small or medium-sized family to leave the banquet together. There was no hesitation or scruple in the whole process, just because Worried about his safety.

Thirty-seven years under the sea is really a stolen time. Only one person speaks occasionally and the other responds silently in his heart. But you see, even if Xiaoyao can't say she can't move or even her expression doesn't change, Xiang Liu can still tell whether she is happy or not. The most beautiful snow he had ever seen was in the far north, and she also said the same answer in her heart.

Bei took Xiaoyao to the casino to watch slaves fight to the death. Xiaoyao looked at the reborn left ear and thought about the young Xiang Liu she had never met before. He could not help but want to caress her cheek.

Yao Bei met Zhuan Xu when they got married, and it took a long time for Xiao Yao to break the silence, "Did you go to Jing and Yi Ying's wedding?" But she was probing and annoyed, "Do you feel the discomfort in my heart?" Yao Bei was together again

. Swimming under the sea, almost kissing, courting sharks, and white seashells, the atmosphere is subtle and ambiguous to the extreme. Xiaoyao felt so safe around him. She could fall asleep in the water when she felt sleepy. She trusted him so much! After waking up, he sweetly said "I had a good dream", and there was a smile on Xiang Liu's lips.

After Xiaoyao and Fenglong got engaged, they saw Bei Shi losing all his money in a casino and proposed not to make poison and cure the poison. He was about to speak but stopped, what he wanted to say was shattered in his heart, leaving only a desolate farewell with a bow.

Even if it was one month after the marriage robbery in Qingshui Town, even if the familiarity of Qingshui Town made Xiaoyao recall the past and think of Shi Qi in a trance, no one could get involved in this grudge and hatred. She murmured, "Xiang Liu, I feel bad." He covered her with a quilt and calmed her nerves - she didn't know when she would die, but life and death were already destined. The fragility and tenderness that are not shown to others at ordinary times can only be revealed slightly when drunk.

What makes me even more emotional is that they should have forgotten each other after Bei's "death", but when Uncle Lirong came to comfort her before his death, she still couldn't help but touch his white hair gently, and he Still unable to restrain himself, he kissed her forehead.

It was clear that she could go back to Shennong Mountain directly after learning the truth about her parents and lover Gu, but Xiaoyao insisted on staying at sea for one more night, looking at the sea and thinking of her thirty-seven years at the bottom of the sea. She was so happy to see Xiang Liu and wanted to catch him when he left.

It was clear that Xiaoyao should consider her own situation first after being rescued from the big whirlpool on the seabed, but she was concerned about Xiang Liu's injury and tried her best not to let him go. She lightly touched the corner of his blood-stained lips and said, "You are the one who is afraid. !" It wasn't until Xiang Liu asked about it that he remembered to talk about his experience. Even in the face of two killers, because of the strong sense of oppression exuding from Xiang Liu, Xiao Yao dared to tease the albatross demon that had just killed her, and went to recognize Zuo Er without fear of death. The aura of danger to others was such a reassuring protection for her - this sense of security actually came from the most feared Nine-Life Xiangliu in the entire wilderness, Xuanyuan's enemy.

It was clear that when Hulu Lake broke up, after hearing the cause of Jing's death, Xiaoyao should immediately start analyzing who the murderer was, but after Xiaoyao was stunned for a while, she asked why he told her "now", just like asking why he came to prevent her from getting married "now" , despised his ruthlessness, hated his coldness, and vowed never to meet him again. But even if there is a break, it will ultimately be just a grudge between them and has nothing to do with anyone else.

In "The Emperor's Strategy", Qi San said to Li Li: "There are some things we haven't said, not because we are not the ones we are."

Between Yao and Liu, there are positions, identities, and the most powerful and weakest words. But his accompanying her and saving her had nothing to do with his identity. She healed his wounds and concealed things for him, regardless of her position.

Huangdi said that between Xiaoyao and Zhuanxu, he was just an outsider.
I want to say that between Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao, Zhuan Xu is just an outsider.

There are things we haven’t said, not because we’re not. It was so suitable that I cried to death [tears]that there was no one between Xiaoyao and Xiang Liu. Zhuan Xu didn’t know Bei’s identity until the end, and he didn’t know that Gu was a lover Gu until the end.Zhuanxu kept staring at his love rival when he was in the public eye. In the end, he discovered that his sister had hidden Xiang Liu very well. It felt like a dead love rival suddenly attacking me. . .
When Xiaoyao finally committed suicide, I think what she was thinking was that if Xiang Liu came to save her again in order to survive, and broke her vow never to see each other again, she would have another reason to get involved with him; if Xiang Liu didn't come to save her, , then it would be nice to die with Xiang Liu. If we can’t live together for the rest of our lives, we can just go to hell together. She never thought about dying with Jing or Zhuan Xu, but Xiang Liu was okay.so when she finally woke up in Yushan and saw Bai Yi, she held her breath subconsciously, thinking that only Xiang Liu could save her. She was talking about all kinds of doubts about Lover's Gu, and it wasn't because her fiancé was by her side, but judging from what she said to Xiang Liu while waiting for him on the sea, it was clear that she believed in the idea of living and dying together.
Someone said before that Xiaoyao wanted to die with Jing in the big whirlpool. I was really helpless. The book clearly stated that it was "sadness after hope is shattered." I didn't expect that Jing "had no choice but to die together." , I had to abandon her! The days ahead are too long, and she doesn’t want to hold on in pain any longer.” What kind of love is this to the point of living and dying together? Ten days and a half have passed.

Xiaoyao protects Zhuanxu with her life, and would rather commit suicide than kill him when she hates him. However, being overprotective means being an outsider. She is willing to owe and demand from Xiangliu. She will not be embarrassed no matter how many times Xiangliu saves her. Xiang Liu is her own. When she committed suicide or wanted to kill Xiang Liu, she would not have thought that the two of them would die together, but she didn't care. die... I felt in my heart that she didn't mind living and dying with Xiang Liu. She was also afraid that what Jing was worried about was the "connection of minds." Her approach was like a girl comforting her fiancé that there was nothing to be jealous of. My ex-boyfriend and I were totally clean. Maybe she really doesn't care much about living and dying together. Since we are destined not to live together, why not die together?

 AH :
Xiao Yao acted nonchalantly with a smile. “I guessed it. Legend says the merpeople have incredibly melodic voices so from who else in the deep ocean but the merpeople to sing like that?” Xiang Liu didn’t want her to know that when she was unconscious the things he did with her, and she didn’t want him to know that she already knew. Their embraces and companionship, just let it be buried deep in the dark ocean depths!

But this thought comes from XY's point of view? She thinks, based on their unspoken love relationship, that XL wouldn't want her to know or aknowledge/say out loud that she witnessed his love for her. We don't actually know what XL is thinking?

 AH :
Based on that information and the information that XL gave her in chapter 22, XY was able to accurately speculate more about XL's relationship with Gong Gong. So I don't think it would be impossible for XY to guess (without the information that she learned from XL in chapter 22) that Gong Gong had either helped XL escape from the death match arena or that he had saved XL's life sometime after he escaped from the death match arena (again, the latter option being what actually happened) to incur the debt that caused XL to join the remnant army in the first place. XL was aware that XY had that other information, so he would also know that it would be possible for XY to make that guess.

Seems fair... But, in my opinion, for someone supposed to be this "exceptionally intelligent" and shrewd as XL, it's getting to be a lot of clues, isn't ?  With a bit of thought and connecting the dots, all the hints pointed that XY could have been conscious : her heart and her face/aura reacting to XL words, the fact that she knew/guessed that XL escaped from the death match arena (as you said, he could have been saved by Gong Gong, but he could also have made a bet with its owner like Left Ear, or he could have been bought by someone else, or whatever other reason - the fact is that she utter what would be an hypothesis with a suspicious aplomb), the fact that she knew about the merpeople song, the "It’s hard for you to save me", the fact that she woke up on the clam shell with an attitude towards XL quite different from her usual relationship with him (even if he saved her, if we suppose that she wasn't conscious and woke up after 37 years on XL's clam shell, she should have been confused and cautious, not happily giggling and all decontracted....)

Dark lines of fish red purple

Why is it Yudan Zi? Why not Yudanhong?

Let’s first list the lines of Yu Dan Zi in the book, and then we will discuss why it is Yu Dan Zi.

1. The first time I mentioned Yudanhong/Yudanzi, there was a group boat trip to catch fish in Fenglong:

"Jing walked to Xiaoyao and explained: "Actually, that is the inner elixir of the deep sea fish monster. The inner elixir of the fish monster is brightly colored. People call it fish elixir red, fish elixir purple... fish based on their main colors. Danhong is the most common fish pill, but it is extremely rare to be so pure that there is no trace of color like this one. Fish pills can be made into jewelry, accessories, and can also be used as medicine. If it is a good-grade fish elixir, it can be refined into a treasure and held in the mouth, which can extend the time a person can stay underwater. "

Xiaoyao was originally distracted when Jing was talking, but when he heard the last sentence, he suddenly became interested , "What is a good grade? Does that piece just now count?"

"The purer the color, the better the grade. The piece just now is considered the best fish elixir. ""

<1-14 There is no way to eliminate this situation>

Here the author explains to the readers the difference between Yudanhong and Yudanzi, eliciting Xiaoyao's desire for Yudan = desire for swimming = desire for the sea. sea=?

The author's setting for Xiaoyao is that she likes making poison and swimming, and the only one who completely corresponds to that is Xiang Liu. On the other hand, why didn't she set Xiaoyao to like playing the piano and painting? This is a clear directional hint.

2. Send fish red purple

Jing and Yiying's marriage has not yet been cancelled, and Fangfengbei asks "Who do you want me to be" for the second time. When Xiaoyao and Bei were about to go out, they suddenly remembered that they promised Xuanxuan to go see Jing.

"Xiao Yao thought for a while and asked uncertainly: "Is this Yu Dan Zi? "

"I originally wanted to find a red one for you, but although this thing is not precious, it is really rare . I only found a purple one. I originally wanted to carve something, but I think you must want this thing. When you hold it in your mouth and play with it, no matter what it looks like, it’s not as comfortable as holding a round bead in your mouth. If you want any style, I’ll carve it for you.”

After Jing gave Yudanzi, Xiaoyao's reaction was:

"Xiaoyao suddenly fell down on the desk and buried his head in his arms.

Jing was startled and her voice changed, "Xiaoyao, Xiaoyao, what's wrong with you?"

"I'm not feeling uncomfortable, I just hate you a little." Every time, when she had just made up her mind, he always found a way to make her soften. Could it be that just because she picked him up and saved him, she couldn't be cruel to him anymore? "

<1-16 I miss you and hate you, but you don’t know>

Tu Shanjing knew very well that Xiaoyao wanted a fish pill, so he gave it to him. According to the inference in the previous part, the actual function of the fish pill should be to bring Xiaoyao closer to the sea and closer to Xiangliu.

In the previous article [The Fable of the Butterfly Finally Tangled in a Spider's Web], it was mentioned that the original description of the spider's web is:

"The silk they spin is sea blue. This sea-blue spider web is in the shape of a trigram, with eight corners connected to the tree branches, and suspended in the middle. The spider webs are arranged horizontally and vertically in a fine grid, but intertwined in circles, like ripples. Under the dim starlight, the entire web is The spider web looks like a piece of exquisite blue satin. ""

Combined with the third book, after Xiang Liu taught Jing how to unlock Xiaoyao on the spot, Jing's various behaviors were completely different from those in the first two books. Even Xiaoyao asked in disbelief:

""You, what was your name when we first met? Who named you that? ""

<3-2 Where does this person come from>

So, the question remains: "What is the web made of? "

Yu Dan Zi, fifteen bottles of green plum wine. Whenever Xiaoyao wants to cut her off ruthlessly, Jing always has a way to make her soften.

I thought of a comment I saw on the Internet: Mulberry wine is Xingxuan, green plum wine is Jing, and poison is Xiangliu. Xiaoyao waited for the first two men to bring her wine, but she went to great lengths to carefully prepare poison and give it to Xiang Liu.

3. Deep pool in Cao'ao Ridge

The first time we met Xiaoyao after coming to the Central Plains. Jing and Xiaoyao were separated for seventeen months, during which time Xingxuan completed drug rehabilitation.

Jing expressed his unwillingness to kill Hou, but Xiaoyao believed that Jing's soft heart made her feel safe and happy. Jing asked Xiaoyao to go to bed early when he was tired. Xiaoyao said, " You can't sleep well when you are tired ," and asked Jing to " accompany me to play in the water ."

Xiaoyao thought of Xiang Liu and buried her face in her arms, silently. She didn't know whether he was Xiang Liu or Fang Feng Bei now . Suddenly, she grabbed Jing's arm and dragged Jing into the pool with force: " Accompany me to the bottom of the pool. "

Without waiting for Jing to answer, Xiaoyao took Yu Danzi in his mouth and pulled Jing to dive towards the bottom of the pool.

With the fish pill in it, I can indeed breathe freely under the water.

She pulled Jing and kept diving towards the bottom of the pool, but the water seemed to be bottomless . Even though Jing's spiritual power was not weak and her breath was long, she found it difficult to hold on.

……

Jing looked into the distance and whispered: "You didn't see me in your eyes just now. "

<2-1 Green plum blossom lovesickness>

The sea and the deep pool.

The first and only time Xiaoyao used this fish pill was in the deep pool. Corresponding to the following text, when this fish elixir purple really reached the sea, it dissipated.

4. Xiaoyao returns Jingyu Danzi

Miss Fangfeng is pregnant.

"Xiaoyao took off the purple fish necklace on her neck and gently placed it in front of Jing: "Mrs. Tai will hold a wedding for you and Yiying in the near future. At that time, I won't go to congratulate you and will be here in advance. I wish you all the best to treat each other as guests and grow old together. ""

<2-8 Suddenly I heard the sad wind>

Except for the time when I tried it out, this fish pill purple has never really played the role it should play. Xiaoyao once wanted a fish pill that would allow her to breathe freely under the water, but after she got a fish pill, she didn't really need it anymore. What does it imply?

5. Yudanzi returns to Xiaoyao’s hands

""etc! "Jing called to Xiaoyao, took out the Yudanzi hidden close to her body, and handed it to Xiaoyao.

Xiaoyao didn't accept it, but she didn't reject it outright either. She frowned slightly, as if she didn't know what to do for a moment.

Jing said: "This is my diagnosis fee, please accept it."

Xiaoyao thought for a while and said, "If I accept your consultation fee, I have to promise to cure your disease."

Jing said: "I will follow the doctor's advice and take good care of my health. I will go to Zhiyi in a while and ask Wang Ji to continue to treat me."

Xiaoyao took the fish pill and turned to leave without saying a word. "

<2-16 The wind is uncertain, but people are still at first>

look! Time and time again, the effect of this Yudanzi is not much different from fifteen bottles of green plum wine. It's a tie, like a spider's thread.

6. Xiaoyao uses Yudanzi to fish and enforce laws

"Hou absolutely believes what Xiaoyao said. There are not many women in the world who are willing to give up Chishui Fenglong. Xiaoyao is indeed a freak.

Hou said: "I will help you keep this Yu Danhong first. Whether you want to take it back or throw it away in the end, it's up to you." Xiaoyao smiled and hung the Yu Danhong around his neck. "

"Jing opened his palms, and a crystal fish violet emitted beautiful light in his palm. Jing put the fish violet on Xiaoyao and solemnly said: "This time is not a medical consultation fee. ""

<3-1 The east wind is evil and happiness is thin>

This chapter contains a lot of descriptions of fish red, fish red and purple. It’s really interesting, Yu Danzi has solid tool attributes.

Yu Danzi can be regarded as a token of love between two people, but in fact Xiaoyao has no use for it at all. Instead, he uses Yu Danzi to connect the broken attachment and mend the broken spider web with his own hands.

After sewing and mending, the butterfly flew back to the spider web.

7. Yudanzi was destroyed by the albatross demon

"The woman in purple pulled hard, and Yu Danzi was pulled down. She looked at it in front of her eyes and said with a smile, "This is a good thing, but it's a pity that it's too eye-catching and you can't keep it for yourself! "She exerted force on her palms, and the purple fish turned into a purple stream of light, dissipating in the sea breeze."

<3-10 I miss you every day but don’t see you>

Yu Danzi was destroyed, and Xiang Liu once again saved Xiaoyao from danger, ridiculing her for being taken too good care of by Tu Shanjing and forgetting how to survive.

Tu Shanjing's "death" and Yu Danzi's destruction were completely right at the same time.

After Jing's "death", Xiaoyao still retained Yudan Zi, which was a tangible reminder of her. But soon after, Yu Dan Zi dissipated, which meant that Xiao Yao was about to wake up.

The one who finally returned to Xiaoyao was not Tu Shanjing, but Ye Shiqi. Yu Dan Zi belongs to Tu Shan Jing, but not to Ye Qi.

The butterfly was trapped by the spider web. It was originally an immortal situation, but a variable appeared, and this variable was "death".

Based on the tool properties of Yudanzi, it does not play the role of allowing Xiaoyao to breathe freely underwater. Its essence is more like a symbol.

If you can’t answer “Why is Yudan purple?” you might as well answer “Why isn’t Yudan red?”

The author assumes that Tu Shanjing is the richest man in Dahuang, but the richest man in Dahuang can only find a fish pill purple for Xiaoyao, but Tu Shanhou can catch a fish pill red for Yiying. On the one hand, it is said that this thing can be found but not sought, on the other hand, my brother met it when he went to the sea to catch fish.

You taste it, you taste it carefully.

Insert a point.

Regarding the battle between male protagonists, the author said that who is the male protagonist depends on which angle you look at it. From the perspective of story structure, the cousin is of course the male protagonist. Personally, I think the male protagonist of the emotional line is Xiang Liu.

But why can the male protagonist of "Saucer Love" be either Xuanxuan or Xiangliu, but he can't be Tu Shanjing? Don't forget, "Sauvignon Blanc", like "Once Promised", is part of Tonghua's "Mountain and Sea Broker". The heroine of "Sauvignon Blanc" is already fictitious. Do you want the author to say "In my Mountain and Sea Agent series, the hero of the first part is Chi You in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, the second part is Hou Tu in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, and the third part Did I make up Tu Shanjing?"

Another question: Why does the official matchmaking setting have to be that of the Tushan family?

Is it okay if he’s not from the fourth family?

Even if he must be from the fourth family, then Chishui has a fiancé and Xiling is a cousin, there is also a ghost.

The Tushan family is set to be the richest man in the wilderness, but as the story goes, the last thing Xiaoyao needs after becoming the queen is money. So is this setting just for someone to help pay and do the accounting for Xuanxuan to raise that mountain of soldiers who were never used in the end? Or give Xiang Liu thirty-seven years of food and grass money to buy out a promise? It can't be just for the convenience of delivering express delivery to Xiaoyao, right?

I prefer to believe that the reason why the Tushan family was chosen is because the surname "Tushan" has a clear direction that readers are very familiar with: Linghu.

If you think about it this way, all the fox's behaviors are actually valid.

Back to Jade.

"The Analects of Confucius Yang Huo" writes that Confucius said: "The evil purple is the one who seizes the vermilion."

Evil, disgust; snatch, take by force, replace; vermilion: positive color; purple: secondary color mixed with vermilion and black.

Purple and Zhu are often written together with special meanings, such as Azi and Azhu.

Try again if literature.

If the author only wrote Yu Danhong, Xiaoyao saw Yu Danhong and wanted one, and Jing found it for her as a token of both. Later Tu Shanhou said that your Yu Danhong is not as good as mine, so I I’ll give you a new one, srds It doesn’t really matter what grade of fish red is determined by the attributes of Xiaoyao’s half-sea monster, but for the role that bright-line fish red and purple can play in the article, a fish of a slightly lower grade can be used. Is it right to use Danhong instead?

But the author wrote, Yu Dan Zi, Yu Dan Hong. I just wrote them together.

Even if we put aside the fact that "Zhuzi" is written together as a metaphor for good and evil, right and wrong, good and evil , we can see clearly that Yudanzi is the substitute for Yudanhong when there is no Yudanhong. But this substitution actually didn’t have much effect.

Back to that question. Who is the “person” who “has someone to depend on”? Is it Tu Shanjing? Don’t forget, Yu Dan Zi has dissipated.

It is obvious that Yu Danzi is a metaphor for Yao Jing, but is Yu Dan Hong a metaphor for Yao Liu?

The setting in the book is that although Yudanhong is common, absolutely pure Yudanhong without any variegation is extremely rare. So what is extremely rare is the fish red that Hou gave to Yiying?

Absolute purity is absolute existence, absolute existence is the unity of objectivity and wholeness, the unity of objectivity and wholeness is absolute itself, and absolute itself is nothingness. Yes=No.

The extremely rare and purest fish red is that there is no fish red. That is to say, Xiang Liu changed Xiaoyao's physique, allowing her to move freely in the sea without the need for fish pills.

What Xiang Liu gave Xiaoyao was not Yu Danhong, but it was far better than Yu Danhong.

What is absolutely pure and extremely rare is the love that Xiang Liu gives Xiaoyao.

 Kokuto:
That scene was not where she gave XL her consent, as I explained.  It's my fault for adding the last sentence, so you're conflating my saying she never said no, to that specific scene with the silencing spell.  But the point is, obeying as his man, covers many situations.

 Kokuto:
No.  XY had already agreed.  He punished her because she somehow still didn't seem to be taking him seriously when he said he would punish her for future failure.

I think we still fundamentally disagree on what consent is and how it works, but let's look at the whole scene where XY "agrees" to work for XL in its entirety.

-----

Chapter 2:

After some time, Xiang Liu calmly said, “If you want to live, work for me.

Xiao Liu said nothing. Xiang Liu blew out the lamps. “You have a night to think on it.” Xiao Liu’s eyes were open and he stared straight ahead.

Dawn arrived and Xiang Liu dressed and asked, “Have you decided?” Xiao Liu lazily said “Still thinking. I’m so thirsty, I want some water first.” Xiang Liu laughed coldly and said “Take him outside.”

Two soldiers dragged Xiao Liu out and Xiang Liu calmly said, “Whip him. Twenty lashes.

The army’s whipping can make the most devious demon soldier capitulate. That was how painful it was. And the man Nine-lives Xiang Liu sent to whip him had a shockingly strong arm. Once with just one hundred and twenty lashes he killed a demon soldier who was over a thousand years old. The whip was as thick as an oxtail and it came down in snaps as Xiao Liu yelled, “I’m done thinking! Done thinking!”

After the twenty lashes were done, Xiang Liu looked at Xiao Liu and asked, “What’s your decision?” Xiao Liu gasped, “I just have three conditions.

Whip him. Twenty lashes.

The whip came down and Xiao Liu yelped, “Two conditions! One condition!”

Another twenty lashes were delivered and Xiao Liu’s entire back was covered in blood and he was in excruciating pain. Xiang Liu coldly looked at him and asked, “Any more conditions?”

Xiao Liu was covered in sweat and his mouth was bleeding so he couldn’t say a full sentence. “You… can kill me, but I… still… have one condition.” Xiang Liu smiled with a corner of his mouth and said, “Say it!”

“I….I won’t leave Qing Shui Town.” Xiao Liu understood that Xiang Liu was interested in his ability to make poison and as long as he didn’t leave Qing Shui Town then Xiang Liu couldn’t send him to kill the Xuan Yuan generals and officers. Nor could he send him to kill Gao Xing nobles and royals. Xiang Liu seemed to understand Xiao Liu’s thinking and just stared at him without any expression.

Xiao Liu had been acting a coward this entire time but this time he didn’t back down and looked at Xiang Liu straight back. The meaning was clear: if Xiang Liu didn’t agree to this condition, then kill him now. After a moment, Xiang Liu said, “Fine!

Xiao Liu breathed a sigh of relief and then collapsed.

Xiao Liu was dragged by the soldiers back into Xiang Liu’s tent and the army doctor removed his clothes and put medicine on his back. Xiang Liu stood at the door of the tent and coldly observed. Xiao Liu laid on a wooden board and docilely allowed the army doctor to minister to him. When the medicine was applied and everyone left, Xiang Liu said to Xiao Liu, “Make whatever concoction I ask of you. All other times you can continue being a healer in Qing Shui Town. But when I summon you, you must obey immediately.

Fine, but it’s like not I will be able to make whatever my lord asks.

“If you can’t, then you can exchange with your body.”

Huh?Xiao Liu never imagined Xiang Liu would like men and carefully said, “My lord is handsome beyond compare. It’s not that I don’t want to service you but…”

Xiang Liu smirked and lifted his foot and stepped on Xiao Liu’s wound slowly until blood started to seep out. “If you can’t make one, then use a part of your body in exchange. The first time, your ears. The second time, your nose…” Xiang Liu upped the pressure. “Don’t worry, I won’t cut off your hands. You need them to make the concoctions.”

Xiao Liu was in so much pain he writhed. “I….I understand.

Xiang Liu pulled his foot back and wiped the blood away on Xiao Liu’s robe. “You are as slippery as an eel: one moment of not paying attention and all that is left is mud. But my personality, you should go ask around.”

Xiao Liu snarked, “I don’t need to ask around to figure it out.”

-----

There is no consent here. XL offers XY a choice that isn't much of a choice: work for him or die.

When XY does not initially agree, XL has her whipped. That type of whipping is so powerful and so painful that it is enough to "make the most devious demon soldier capitulate" and to kill "a demon soldier who was over a thousand years old." If it is that painful for a demon soldier and able to kill even a very strong demon soldier (one that is even older than XL), then young and low-spiritual-power XY has no chance.

The word "capitulate" is an appropriate one in this context. XY was prepared to die if XL didn't agree to her final condition. When he did, she finally capitulates. That is not the same as providing consent for anything.

Later in the scene, XL tells her to make whatever concoction he asks of her, and to obey immediately when he summons her. There is no blanket requirement that she must do anything he asks or accept any treatment that he inflicts on her. Even to these relatively narrow instructions, XY's response is qualified. "Fine, but it’s like not I will be able to make whatever my lord asks."

XL responds with a threat: “If you can’t, then you can exchange with your body.” But XY misunderstands his meaning. She thinks he's saying that she would have to "service" him if she was unable to make a certain concoction. She starts to tell him that she won't do that. Again, showing that doing so is not part of what she has "agreed" to do for him.

“Huh?” Xiao Liu never imagined Xiang Liu would like men and carefully said, “My lord is handsome beyond compare. It’s not that I don’t want to service you but…”

XL hurts her and also clarifies his intended meaning.

XY's "I understand" seems to be saying that she now understands what XL was getting at with his original comment as much as she's saying that she understands what will happen if she doesn't make a concoction that XL requests.

This still is not a blanket agreement (under the threat of death, further excruciating pain, or dismemberment) to accept anything that XL might do to her (e.g., biting her neck and drinking her blood against her will) in the future.

 Kokuto:
We are forced to give consent all the time.  I gave two extreme examples, the draft and in lieu of execution.  You can withdraw your consent to either, if you'd rather go to jail or die.  I suppose one  difference would be authority vs. criminal.

Generally, one doesn't say that someone "consented" to the draft, if they don't dodge it (by going to another country or obtaining a real or fake exemption) or go to jail. People do occasionally use the word "consent" in a relatively loose sense synonymously with "agree", but there are contexts where "consent" always has a more specific meaning. Assault is one of those contexts. Medical procedures (including donating blood) is another. Romantic and sexual relationships are another still.

Maybe the reason for our differences of opinion is that you are talking about "consent" in a very loose sense (meaning any kind of acquiescence or agreement) and I am talking about "consent" in the more specific sense.

In the context of this discussion, we need to use the more specific meaning of consent. We've been trying to evaluate whether XL biting XY and drinking her blood the first time was assault or whether she had consented to that happening and therefore it wasn't assault. So we have to evaluate whether she gave the kind of consent that would make XL's actions not be assault in these circumstances. That kind of consent cannot be given under duress, and the person must be freely able to withdraw their consent. We can consider two examples, which I'll tailor to a US context.

First, in the context of marriage. Prior to the 1970s, marital rape was legal in every US state. The rationale was that a woman's decision to marry a man constituted her consent for her husband to have sex with her whenever he wanted, and during their marriage the woman could never withdraw that consent. Which was truly insane. Now marital rape is illegal in all fifty states. It is broadly understood that getting married does not provide blanket consent for intercourse. Each partner has to be a willing participant in order to commence intercourse, and each partner must have the ability to change their mind.

Second, in the context of sports. If Person A agrees (freely / not under duress) to participate in a contact football (American football) game, gets intercepted in a way that is normal in the context of the game, and is injured as a result, then Person A can be seen as having consented to the interception and the person who made the interception (Person B) would not be found to have committed assault and battery. But if Person A was held at gunpoint and forced to agree to participate in the football game and then later in the game Person A was tazered on the field, held down, and injured by Person B with a baseball bat? Absolutely assault and battery. In the second circumstance, Person B would not be able to claim that Person A consented to those actions by agreeing to participate in the game on two levels. First, because Person A's "agreement" to participate in the game was given under duress. It wasn't valid consent. Second, because the actions that led to the injury were not within the realm of what a reasonable person should expect when playing a football game. So even if he had validly consented to participate in a contact football game, that consent would not cover what ended up happening.

 Kokuto:
Yes, I think this is where we seemed to disagree.  I think consenting to be XL's man covers many of his actions some people object to, such as being used as bait.

Again, her "agreement" to work for XL in chapter 2 is a capitulation. It does not constitute the type of "consent" that we are talking about in the context of assault. Even if XY had validly consented to work for XL in that chapter, that consent would not have been broad enough to cover biting and blood sucking, especially in a context where XY would not have been able to withdraw her consent.

Regarding the point about using XY as bait, XY said she would normally have no problem with XL using her as lure, but in this case she did because of CX's true identity. Their "agreement" in chapter 2 doesn't seem relevant. Both XL and XY seem to view XL's choice to use XY as a lure to be something where XY is free to have her own opinion.

Chapter 6:

Xiao Liu continued, “A few days ago I was mulling over why you were so free with your time lately and actually spending every day with me. Then I realized you weren’t taking care of me, you were waiting for Xuan. Jing wanted me to hide in the mountains because he knew that you guys had been battling with the Xuan Yuan army for hundreds of years and they still couldn’t track you down. If you wanted, there was no way Xuan could have found me. But you guessed his real identity, and you knew he wouldn’t let me live, so you used me to set a trap with the intention to kill him.

So I used you as a lure. You have a problem with that?

Normally no, since he wants to kill me so best take him out. But I know now who he really is. He is Zhuan Xu, one of the Xuan Yuan Kingdom princes. Not just any prince, he is the eldest grandson prince of the Yellow Emperor! If I help you kill him, then the Yellow Emperor will surely wreak vengeance on the world and I won’t have any peace. There won’t be a place within the vast wilderness that I can hide!”

Xiang Liu opened his eyes and stared. “I used to think you had some guts.”

Xiao Liu responded, “Sorry for disappointing you. You dare to make an enemy of the Yellow Emperor, I don’t. The rage of an Emperor, the blood flows a thousand miles! I cannot endure it!”

“How did you learn Xuan’s identity?”

 Kokuto:
No, to free reign to assault (that is not how the military works).  But he does have the authority to punish and execute and he executed spies.

Huzzah! We do agree on something!

 Kokuto:
She definitely attempted murder against him and Chubby, as well as theft and trespassing, and was a liar, and was in disguise, and he suspected her of spying.  But instead of executing her, he gave her the choice of execution or working for him.

Hmmm. I would disagree with the statement that "She definitely attempted murder against him and Chubby".

We know that XY used sleeping powder and poison powder against XL. And we know that she used one of those things against Furball, and that whatever she used against Furball was more effective against him than any poison that Xuan Yuan had tried to use on Furball in the past. But we don't know for sure that the poison she used against XL (and possibly against Furball) was deadly.  It might've been. And it might not.

-----

Chapter 2:

The Jiu Jiu’s claws dug into Xiao Liu and it tried to make its body as tiny as possible. Xiao Liu held it with one arm and the other tossed out some powder. His eyes held the eyes of the condor and he said in a very sincere and non-threatening way, “Master Condor is handsome and powerful. Your wing power is impressive. One look and it's clear you are a king among condors: the ruler of the skies. I am very impressed, but I’m sorry that I can’t let you eat this Jiu Jiu today.”

The condor wanted to destroy this bastard before him but it felt dizzy all of a sudden like that one time it stole wine, but he didn’t steal any wine today… After teetering left and right, the condor collapsed.

Xiao Liu was about to escape when a voice came from above. “Furball, I told you many times: people are devious. You’ll remember it after this, won’t you?”

A white-haired man dressed all in white was elegantly sitting on a tree branch smirking in glee at the fallen condor. Xiao Liu silently sighed, the real danger had arrived. He threw the Jiu Jiu towards the tree knowing that, with its quickness, it could escape. Who could have expected that the Jiu Jiu would tumble and stand straight and frozen in front of the man? It didn’t have the courage to run away! If it wasn’t going to run, then Xiao Liu was off.

Xiao Liu tossed powder at the man and then turned to run when the man in white blocked his path.

Xiao Liu tossed another powder, but the man furrowed his brow and said, “If you keep tossing that useless junk and dirty my clothes, I’ll cut your hands off.”

Xiao Liu stopped immediately. The opponent was so powerful that poison and sleep powder were useless on him. He also couldn’t fight him, so that left only one other choice: get on his knees and beg.

Xiao Liu plopped down on his knees and with a copious amount of tears and snot he begged, “My lord, I’m just a little healer from Qing Shui Town come to the mountains to get some herbs to earn some money. My two brothers need it to marry wives!” The man checked the condor and said, “Antidote.”

Xiao Liu crawled over and handed the antidote to him. The man fed it to the condor and finally looked at Xiao Liu. “My condor ride has eaten tens of thousands of poisonous snakes. Even the poisons made by the court doctors of the Xuan Yuan Kingdom are ineffective on him. It’s interesting to know that even a little healer in Qing Shui Town is this talented.”

Xiao Liu felt a chill fly up his spine and he cursed silently. “It’s just getting lucky. I’m not lying. I’m a little healer specializing in infertility. The Hui Chun Clinic in Qing Shui Town. If my lord has a wife who can’t get pregnant…”

A small soldier came running up and bowed respectfully “My lord!”

The man kicked Xiao Liu over and barked, “Tie him up!” “Yes, sir!” Xiao Liu was tied up and he breathed a sigh of relief. This was the Sheng Nong resistance army. Even though the Yellow Emperor called them a bunch of villainous traitors, in the last few hundred years they never bothered people and always kept a regimented force.

Xiao Liu knew everything he said was true so once they confirmed it he would be let go. But he knew this man was very dangerous… he peeked at the white robed man who was intently checking on the condor.

The antidote was real and the condor would be up soon. But that silly Jiu Jiu was still frozen on the ground. Xiao Liu laughed and said, “Will my lord please let that Jiu Jiu go?” The man appeared not to hear and continued to stroke the condor’s back. The condor stood up and shook its feathers before flying over and ripping the Jiu Jiu apart.

-----

I agree that she definitely trespassed, definitely tried to take the Jiu Jiu from territory occupied by the Sheng Nong army (not that they would've ever been able to lure it out themselves), might have gone on to try to steal some herbs from their territory as well if she wasn't interrupted, definitely tried to use some kind of poison and sleeping powder on XL and Furball, definitely lied to XL about her identity / was definitely in disguise, and definitely seemed like a spy.

And I agree that XL knew all of that and spared her life by giving her the option to work for him instead of being killed and by agreeing to XY's final condition.

 blimarch:
But this thought comes from XY's point of view? She thinks, based on their unspoken love relationship, that XL wouldn't want her to know or aknowledge/say out loud that she witnessed his love for her. We don't actually know what XL is thinking?

Correct. We don't know for sure what XL knows. This thought only suggests that XY thinks that XL doesn't know that she was conscious. And XL asking XY how she knew about the merpeople's song indicates that he might not be aware (or certain) that XY was conscious when he told her about the song. I think that's consistent with what I said above?

 blimarch:
Seems fair... But, in my opinion, for someone supposed to be this "exceptionally intelligent" and shrewd as XL, it's getting to be a lot of clues, isn't ?  With a bit of thought and connecting the dots, all the hints pointed that XY could have been conscious : her heart and her face/aura reacting to XL words, the fact that she knew/guessed that XL escaped from the death match arena (as you said, he could have been saved by Gong Gong, but he could also have made a bet with its owner like Left Ear, or he could have been bought by someone else, or whatever other reason - the fact is that she utter what would be an hypothesis with a suspicious aplomb), the fact that she knew about the merpeople song, the "It’s hard for you to save me",

Agreed, there were a lot of clues and there's a good chance that he did connect the dots. I'm just saying that we don't know for sure whether he did or whether he didn't.

 blimarch:
the fact that she woke up on the clam shell with an attitude towards XL quite different from her usual relationship with him (even if he saved her, if we suppose that she wasn't conscious and woke up after 37 years on XL's clam shell, she should have been confused and cautious, not happily giggling and all decontracted....)

I'm thinking this one through. How would I expect XY to behave if she was assassinated in chapter 21 and then remained completely unconscious until she woke up in a clam shell on the surface of the ocean in chapter 22?

Maybe a little confused, as you said, initially. And she was dazed when she first woke up.

Maybe she would be cautious. Or maybe when she realized she was alive and in a shell she might figure out that her life had been saved and that she was safe. Maybe even that XL was the one who saved her, especially after realizing that she was in the middle of the ocean.

I'm not sure that being happy to be alive, awake and in the sunlight would seem out of character in those circumstances. Or that XL would necessarily be suspicious because she called for him and told him that she was awake.

Chapter 22:

When Xiao Yao woke up, she felt the warm sun on her body and she subconsciously turned over to keep on sleeping. Suddenly she opened her eyes in disbelief. She laid there in a daze and then slowly raised her hand up.

Oh! She really could move!

“Xiang Liu!” Xiao Yao sat up but then her head bumped into something hard and she saw stars.

No one answered her and she saw a sliver of sunlight trickling in from outside. Xiao Yao felt that she was inside some sort of shell and she used her hands to feel the surface above her head and her sides. The sides slowly opened like flower petals until instantly Xiao Yao was bathed in sunlight.

Only someone trapped by darkness before would understand that sunlight was the world’s most ordinary yet precious treasure! The sunlight stung her eyes but she was reluctant to close her eyes. She faced the sunlight and slowly stood up and let out a happy holler.

After she calmed down, Xiao Yao noticed that she was wearing a loose fitting white robe and was standing on a large open clam shell. She was surrounded by endless ocean and the waves crested against the clam shell and sprayed up white foam.

All these years, Xiang Liu placed her in the middle of a clam shell to sleep in the ocean. Xiao Yao couldn’t contain her smile, didn’t that make her like a pearl hidden inside a clam shell?

Xiao Yao put her hands around her mouth and yelled “Xiang Liu! Xiang Liu! Where are you? I’m awake!

A white and gold condor descended but without Xiang Liu on his back.

Xiao Yao stroked its back. “Furball, where is your master?”

Furbal flapped his wings and called towards the sky once, as if urging Xiao Yao to get on his back.

Xiao Yao happily asked, “Xiang Liu asked you to bring me to see him?

Furball shook his head.

Xiao Yao quizzically asked, “Xiang Liu asked you to take me home?”

Furball nodded his head.

Whether Xiang Liu had matters to attend to or he was purposely avoiding seeing her, Xiao Yao stood there in a dumbstruck daze, the initial happiness of regaining life and light disappearing like receding waves.

Furball pecked Xiao Yao’s hand to urge her to hurry up.

Xiao Yao climbed on Furball’s back and it rose into the air and flew towards the Middle Plains.

Xiao Yao stared at the passing ocean surface as it rushed past her like a shooting arrow, disappearing behind her. The feelings in her heart were so jumbled.

-----

In terms of how her feelings go from extremely happy to disappointed to jumbled, I feel like XL probably felt similar feelings from her in chapter 19 (their last interaction before XY's assassination), so it wouldn't necessarily indicate a major change in their relationship.

Chapter 19:

A dance hall, a dancer was gracefully dancing.

Xiao Yao smiled and placed a white wrapped box in front of Fang Feng Bei.

Bei glanced over it and drawled “What’s that?”

Xiao Yao said “You open it.”

Bei shook his cup “I’m drinking right now.”

Xiao Yao clenched her fist – be patient, be patient, be patient! She released her fist and opened the cloth cover over the box.

Bei was still uninterested and continued drinking his wine and watching the dancer dancing.

Xiao Yao had no choice but to open the box herself. When she made it, to create the scent of the lilies she spent a lot of time on it. Right now the scent of the lilies were lost in the pungent odor of the food and the perfumes around them so it wasn’t noticeable anymore.

Xiao Yao rushed here excitedly with a whole bellyful of things she wanted to say to him. She wanted to boast about how she made the poison lilies, how she made the leaf covers, but now the entire salmon frolicking in the lilies tableau turned dim and she didn’t feel like saying anything anymore. She picked up her wine and started drinking and pouting.

Bei finally turned his gaze from the dancer to the table and checked out the tableau on the glass plate. It was delicate and full of life, the colors vibrant and the items exquisitely rendered.

Bei stared for some time before picking up a chopstick and eating a lily frond.

One bite after another, one lily frond, one salmon, one lily…..slowly he ate the entire salmon frolicking in lilies tableau.

Xiao Yao gaped at him “You….don’t stuff yourself silly.”

Bei shot her a look and she immediately shut up.

Bei ate the final bite and put down his chopstick. He took a sip of wine and casually said, “Not bad.”

Xiao Yao stared at the empty plate and her heart soared. “The only person who can make poisons this tasty in the entire world is me!”

Bei laughed back, “And the only person in the entire world who can appreciate your great “cooking” talents is me!”

Xiao Yao sassed back, “It’s enough to have a true zhiji.”

Bei gave her a half-smile but said nothing.

Xiao Yao asked “Can you continue teaching me archery now?” What she really meant to ask was – are you not angry at me anymore?

Bei finished his wine “I need to leave for a bit, wait for me to come back.”

Xiao Yao figured he was going back to Qing Shui town. Even if there was no active warfare, he was still the General of the Sheng Nong resistance army and there was much he had to do.

Xiao Yao couldn’t help it and sighed loudly and murmured, “If only you can forever be Fang Feng Bei, that would be so great.”

Bei appeared not to have heard her as he set down his wine cup and got up to leave, his form disappearing in the layers of curtains.

 windiaaa041293:
When I was reading the book, I was thinking, didn't she think about Xiang Liu and Lover Gu before she committed suicide? Didn't she think that she would lead to Xiang Liu's death?

In chapter 43 and in chapter 47, she didn't seem to take the lover's bug (and how her death might result in XL's death) into consideration when she was willing to die (in chapter 43) and when she chose to die (in chapter 47). I was personally disappointed in her because of that.

In chapter 43, she only reconsidered her willingness to die when she thought about CX and Miao Pu.

-----

Chapter 43:

Xiao Yao stared at the sky and didn’t feel any rage at being lied to, or fear at imminent death. Only the sadness of having her hopes dashed. Since childhood she had lived a hard life, her heart always drifting, feeling like she would be abandoned at any time. Only after her engagement to Jing did her heart settle down, thinking that things would finally change. Who could have foreseen that Jing would leave her? Even if it was just like her parents with a reason that couldn’t be helped. But she was still abandoned again, and she didn’t want to keep being strong anymore to face a long life ahead. If Jing slept in this ocean, then she would rather be here with him.

The purple robed woman noticed that Xiao Yao was oddly at peace, not like people she killed in the past, and felt some pity for her. She fixed Xiao Yao’s hair and cloth and sincerely complimented “Your wedding dress is very beautiful, your hairstyle is lovely as well. You are an exquisite bride, the Tu Shan Clan Leader will be very pleased when he sees you.”

Xiao Yao broke into a beaming smile “Thank you!”

The woman startled “Don’t you want to know who wants to kill you?”

Xiao Yao didn’t even care to answer, what difference if she knows or not.

The woman in purple said “I don’t even know who it is, the person paid an astronomical sum so my partner and I decided to take this job and afterwards we can retire.”

The water lapped at her feet so the woman sealed the crystal coffin tightly before looking skyward “So annoying, I have to show my demon form again.” She transformed into a seagull and flew into the sky, her clothes burning on the deck and disappearing.

The crystal coffin slowly sank into the water.

Xiao Yao felt suffocated and couldn’t breathe, until the water seeped into the coffin and she could breathe like a fish returning to the water. Xiao Yao laughed wryly as she thought about this plan and how perfect it was, to kill her with no bloodshed and hidden in the depths of the ocean. Except the plan wasn’t perfect because no one knew that Xiao Yao couldn’t drown.

Because she drank the red jade plant wine, Xiao Yao was woozy and found it hard to think. As the coffin sank she thought she was going to die as well and was calmly facing death, except now she wasn’t going to die and felt like a free falling entity that couldn’t find an end to the fall.

Xiao Yao laid in the crystal coffin and looked at the fishes swimming around her. She tapped on the coffin and asked “Have you guys seen Jing?”

The fishes were startled and swam off. Xiao Yao could only lay in the crystal coffin zoned out.

The sun set outside and gradually the water turned dark, as dark as ink. Many fishes glowed in the dark so the water was like a night sky filled with shooting stars. She wondered if Xiao Xiao arrived, whether Zhuan Xu was looking for her, if Miao Pu was crying. Xiao Yao suddenly remembered how angry Zhuan Xu would be, and what if he killed Miao Pu? Xiao Yao stopped laying there to enjoy the view and started to try and get out. But no matter how hard she pushed she couldn’t open the coffin.

Xiao Yao tried so hard to open the coffin but it wouldn’t budge, until she was all tired out and hungry. She suddenly realized that she might end up dying after all, not of drowning but of hunger. Xiao Yao rested for a bit before continuing to try and open the coffin.

...

After finishing the soup Xiao Yao said, “Thank you!”

Xiang Liu coldly replied, “No need! This is the payment for your blood.”

Xiao Yao pouted. “Am I worth so little?”

“What do you want then?”

Xiao Yao said, “My thank you was for saving me! You haven’t forgotten why you were injured in the first place, right?”

Xiang Liu furrowed his brows. “It’s not that I wanted to save you, I simply have no interest to use my own life to confirm the words of the Voodoo King.”

Oh! Right, the Lover’s Bug! The Lover’s Bug does not live alone, if she died then likely Xiang Liu would die. Xiao Yao smiled sadly. “No matter what, thank you for saving me.”

Xiang Liu asked, “Why were you imprisoned in the ocean?”

“Someone wanted to kill me.”

Xiang Liu stared in disgust at Xiao Yao. “Someone wanted to kill you, so you let yourself get imprisoned?”

Xiao Yao stared at the fire and said nothing.

Xiang Liu pressed on. “Why didn’t you fight back?”

Xiao Yao said in a low voice, “Jing……disappeared.”

 windiaaa041293:
In the past few decades, Jing and Xingxuan had been trying to find ways to cure her of the poison. She was the only one who didn't care and took her time. Even if Xuanyuan Shennong went to war, she had never been in a hurry to get rid of the poison.

I don't think this is fully accurate. She asks XL to go with her to Jiu Li to have the bugs removed twice, and doesn't dare to ask him again. XL is the one who stalls or ignores her requests. After she learns more about the bugs, she tells XL what she knows and tries to talk to him about removing the bugs again, but XL isn't interested. She spends years looking into how to remove the bugs, but fails to find the answer. At which point she is a little disappointed, but not worried.

Chapter 29:

Xiao Yao silently stared at Fang Feng Bei for a few moments before shaking her head with a smile “I need to discuss two things with you.”

Fang Feng Bei played with his mask “Tell me.”

“The first is making poisons for you. I can still do it now but after….I’m married I won’t be able to anymore.”

Fang Feng Bei held the mask still and smiled at Xiao Yao “And the second?”

I want to remove the voodoo bug linking us. The Tu Shan Madam had a doctor from the Jiu Li tribe who said that…….our bug might be the legendary Lover’s Bug. This bug is used by lovers…..and you and I…..it’s not suitable!” Xiao Yao mockingly said “Last time you said you were annoyed by the bug so I want to know when you have free time to go to Jiu Li with me so that we can find the Voodoo King to remove the bug.

Fang Feng Bei stared at Xiao Yao and under the dim light of the gambling hall his sliver of a smile felt cold.

Xiao Yao added “Even if the bug is removed, I’ll still be good for my promise.”

Xiang Liu coolly said “Fine, wait until I have time.

-----

Chapter 30:

Xiao Yao felt her heart constricting tightly so she sat up and took deep breaths. It started with being sleepless but over time she seemed to have developed a heart problem. She knew Xiang Liu was being bothered by her right now.

All these years in the deep dark of the night, when she was at her most painful to endure moments, knowing someone was experiencing the same feeling made her feel she wasn’t alone. It made her feel like he was right there keeping her company and it comforted her a lot.

In the poison packages she sent him, she wrote in a letter apologizing for disturbing him and reminding him to go to Jiu Li with her when he had time. But Xiang Liu never replied and Xiao Yao didn’t dare mention it a second time.

-----

Chapter 37:

Xiao Yao laughed back. “I just came back from a trip to Jiu Li. The Voodoo King told me all the specifics about the bug inside our bodies. I don’t remember any of the specifics of what he said but the one thing I do remember clearly is that the two bugs live and die together. Which means our lives are connected. If I’m in trouble then you’re not going to get off scot free!”

Xiang Liu smiled at Xiao Yao and didn’t seem surprised at all.

Xiao Yao was shocked and asked, “You’ve known all along since the beginning what kind of bug this was, right?”

“What if I did?”

“The Voodoo King said ‘the doves don’t fly alone in the sky, the pair of mandarin ducks in the water die together’. If I die then how can you live?

“Why don’t you ask the question in reverse – if I die, then how can you live?”

Xiao Yao tried to stay calm and plead with him. “I don’t know who dies and who lives so that’s why I’m asking you. Tell me!”

Xiang Liu’s expression was sly and acted really nonchalant “How would I know? You’re the one who learned some voodoo. This is the first time I played with a bug. But no need to fret, when either you or I die then we’ll know what happens, right?”

Xiao Yao was so frustrated by him she was nearly hopping up and down in fury “You broke the spell on Zhuan Xu so how could you not want to break the spell between us?

Xiang Liu smiled until his eyes were slits, “I don’t want to know!”

Xiao Yao wearily asked, “What do you want then?”

Xiang Liu’s body was slowly sinking into the water. “Other than checking on how my wares are doing in your body, what else do you think I want?”

“Hey! Don’t go!”

Xiao Yao flipped over the railing ready to dive into the water to chase after Xiang Liu but a pair of hands grabbed her hard and pulled her back on deck.

“Let me go…….” Xiao Yao struggled and then turned around to see Jing. She meekly allowed him to keep her on deck.

-----

Chapter 38:

The winter passed into summer and the seasons changed quickly, before anyone realized it 8 years had passed.

Whether it was the Voodoo King or Xiao Yao, no one had discovered the way to break the Lover’s Bug.

Xiao Yao was a tad disappointed but not worried since the bug was in her for the last 80 some years and she was used to it.

Jing was very worried and every time she failed to break the voodoo spell he couldn’t conceal his disappointment.

Xiao Yao giggled and assured him “Being heart connected isn’t all that intimate. At most Xiang Liu feels some of my pain whereas I feel nothing from him. This doesn’t count as having our hearts as one.”

Actually Jing wasn’t bothered by the hearts connected, he was worried about the life being linked. This worry was something he couldn’t discuss with Xiao Yao so he continued to let her assume he was bothered by their emotional ties.

 windiaaa041293:
She wanted to use Gu as an excuse to save Xiang Liu's life at the last moment of the battle in Xuanyuan Shennong.

She likely wouldn't be able to do so. When XY was assassinated, she was so badly wounded and so close to death that XL needed to use 37 years worth of essential blood transfusions at each full moon (when his demon power was at its strongest) plus one of his extra lives and a voodoo blood spell to save her life. And he still would not have been able to save her if TSJ and CX's people had not transferred their spiritual energy to her.

I don't think XY would believe that she would be able to do the same for XL by herself with her low spiritual power.

Edit: If the OP was suggesting that XY originally want to use the bug connection (before it was broken) as a means of threatening CX to make him spare XL's life in the end (because he would not be willing to risk killing XY), that might be possible. It seems a little questionable though, since she actively hid the true nature of the bug connection from CX between chapter 37 (when she learned about the life-and-death connection) and chapter 50 (when she found out the connection was broken).

 windiaaa041293:
Referring to the first thing she asked Xuanxuan to let go of Xiang Liu, it is a completely reasonable conjecture that she kept her lover Gu to protect Xiang Liu.

XY asked CX to spare XL's life in chapter 51. Her bug connection with XL was broken in chapter 48 and XY found out about it near the beginning of chapter 50. XY felt a sense of loss but nothing in the text indicated that she had planned to use the connection to save XL and was then disappointed to lose that option.

-----

Chapter 50:

The Royal Mother was about to send them away when Sir Bi coughed slightly to remind her, so the Royal Mother suddenly changed topics “You guys know there is a voodoo bug in Xiao Yao’s body?”

Xiao Yao’s expression dimmed so Jing replied “We know.”

The Royal Mother said “When Xiao Yao was unconscious, I discovered the voodoo bug in her and broke the spell. You guys don’t have a problem with that, right?”

Jing was ecstatic and stuttered a bit. “You mean, Your Highness got rid of the voodoo bug from Xiao Yao’s body?”

The Royal Mother coldly stared “Are you doubting me?”

Jing quickly said “No! No! I’m just too happy is all!” The Royal Mother was aloof and didn’t say much, but whatever she said was always true. So if she said she broke the voodoo spell then clearly it was now broken.

Xiao Yao’s heart was jumbled – when Xiang Liu tried to assassinate Zhuan Xu and killed Feng Long, she already repaid all her debt to Xiang Liu by giving her blood. She severed all ties with him then, but hearing now that the final last bit of connection between them was broken when she wasn’t even aware of it, she couldn’t figure out what this sense of loss meant. She mocked herself “He always saw you as just a chess piece, what’s there to feel bereft about? Are you sad about his cold heartlessness?”

 windiaaa041293:
If this is the case, then it is impossible that she did not

consider Xiang Liu when she committed suicide. Liu, not to mention that when she woke up after being rescued in Yushan, her first thought was that Xiang Liu had saved her again. When she saw the figure in white, her first reaction was that it was Xiang Liu, which meant that she had definitely thought that Xiang Liu would save her.

She did not consider XL when she committed suicide. I agree that she thought the figure in white that she saw when she woke up was XL, but I don't agree that she definitely thought he would save her. She was unhappy about being saved.

-----

Chapter 49:

When Xiao Yao woke up and saw the sunlight from the window and the peach blossoms blooming, she didn’t know where she was but she knew she was alive.

Xiao Yao covered her eyes, if she knew it was this hard to die she would have never planted the Lover’s Bug in Xiang Liu years ago!

After some time, Xiao Yao sat up and called out, “Anyone there? Where is this place?”

From the red blossoms a figure in white rushed over and Xiao Yao almost forgot to breathe until she saw his green eyes and released a disappointed breath. “Lie Yang, why am I on Jade Mountain?”

“You were sick so Zhuan Xu brought you to the Royal Mother for healing.”

Zhuan Xu explained that she was sick? Fine, might as well stick with the story…..Xiao Yao asked “Where is Zhuan Xu?”

“Left.”

Xiao Yao was relieved and asked, “Did the Royal Mother save me?”

Lie Yang didn’t answer her, transforming into a white bird and flying away.

Ah Bi walked in with a smile. “Your body was fine, the Royal Mother saw that you could breathe underwater so sank you into the lake filled with Jade Mountain spiritual essence and that woke you up.”

Xiao Yao smiled bitterly, such deadly poison couldn’t even kill her. Having the bug connected with Xiang Liu was like giving herself nine lives. But what was the point of living like this?

Sir Bi saw Xiao Yao’s devastated expression and gently said, “Why don’t you stay on Jade Mountain for awhile? The Royal Mother doesn’t have much time left. Even if the Black Emperor didn’t bring you, we were going to bring you here.”

 blimarch:
The OP's post intrigues me because I never thought that XL could have known that XY was conscious all along... But, now that I think about it: as XL and XY hearts are interconnected, he ought to have felt that XY's heart and her aura/brows sometimes reacted to whatever he said/did under the sea?

I also thought it was strange that XL seemed to think that XY was not aware of his touch and his words even though he should have been able to feel through the connection how she reacted to his words when he spoke to her. Sometimes I think he must've known she could hear him, and then I read other parts and become less sure.

Three poems on the back of the book cover of the first edition of "Long Acacia".

1. "Sauvignon Blanc·Sauvignon Blanc" (Yan Jidao)
Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc. If you ask about how long your lovesickness lasts, it won’t be until you meet each other.
Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc. Who do you want to describe your lovesickness like? Lovers don’t know.

When does lovesickness end, unless it is when we meet.
Who can listen to the love story? A ruthless person cannot understand it.

2. "Sauvignon Blanc·Flowers Like Yi" (Ouyang Xiu)
Flowers are like Yi, willows are like Yi, flowers and willows are like Yi, when young people part with flowers and willows, they lower their heads and shed tears.
To the east of the Yangtze River and to the west of the Yangtze River, mandarin ducks fly in two places on both sides of the Yangtze River. You know when they will meet.

The upper que is written as farewell, and the lower que is written as farewell. It writes about a couple who separated in their youth. After the separation, the wife misses her husband endlessly, but the lovers fly in different places like mandarin ducks, not knowing when they will meet again.

3. "Sauvignon Blanc: One Mountain" (Li Yu)
One mountain, two mountains. The mountains are far away, the sky is high, the smoke is cold, and the water is cold. I miss the red maple leaves.
The chrysanthemum blooms, the chrysanthemum dies. The flying geese have not yet returned, and the wind and moon are idle behind the curtain.

I miss the maple leaves like flames, and I remember them hard in the autumn, but the person I miss has not come back.

Each song is sadder than the last.
From meeting each other and missing each other, to not knowing when we would meet, and finally not looking forward to his return.
How can I say it doesn’t sum up the story of the three Sauvignon Blanc books

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I was really curious about the meaning behind the poem of chapter 32, "A Shadow Headed in Which Direction" and this is what google says. I know nothing about chinese poetry, so I don't know how accurate this is, but it does fit the whole story actually, IMO.

Seeing a wild goose die in love

Huan Haowen "Mo Yu'er·Yanqiu Ci"

"Ask the world, what is love? Direct teaching of life and death. How many times has the old wing been cold and hot? Happy and fun, parting is hard, and there are even more idiots. Jun Yingyou said: There are thousands of miles of clouds, thousands of mountains and twilight snow, who is the only shadow going for?

Hengfen Road, lonely in those days with the flute and drums, the barren smoke is still calm. Conjuring up the soul, He Yiji, the mountain ghosts cry from the wind and rain. Heaven is also jealous, Untrustworthy, Ying'er and Yanzi are all loess. For thousands of years, in order to keep the Sao people, they sang and drank wildly, and visited Yanqiu."

Seeing a wild goose die in love

Yuan Haowen was a famous writer in the late Jin Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty. When he was 16 years old, he went to Bingzhou (in Taiyuan today) to take an exam. On the road, he met a man who hunted wild geese and heard him tell a strange story: that morning. After capturing a wild goose and killing it, another wild goose that escaped from the catching net hovered in the air, wailing, refused to leave, and finally hit the ground quickly and died.

Legend has it that the wild geese are very loyal. They are truly consciously monogamous. If one of a pair of wild geese dies unfortunately, the other will never find a partner for life. Therefore, there are always descriptions of lone geese in ancient Poems.

Someone in Dangkou Town, Wuxi caught a wild goose and was about to slaughter it for cooking. When a scholar saw it, he felt compassion for him, so he spent money to buy the wild goose and take it home as a pet. He was worried that the wild goose would escape, so he tied up its two wings with a string so that the wild goose could not fly. The scholar raises it among chickens, ducks and poultry, and it is usually docile, but as soon as he hears the chirping of geese in the air, he keeps his head up and crying. One day, a group of wild geese flew over the sky, and the wild geese screamed loudly. Suddenly a wild geese flew down from the sky and stopped on the eaves. The two wild geese cried relative to each other, flapping their wings as if they had known each other. The wild goose on the ground wants to let the one on the eaves come down, and the wild goose on the eaves wants to bring the one on the ground up. The scholar saw this and understood that these two wild geese must be their former partners, so he cut the thread on the wings of the wild geese on the ground and let them fly away. But this big goose's wings had been tied for too long and could no longer fly. It fluttered its wings, but it just flopped and fell off. It failed repeatedly. The big geese on the eaves guarded it there until it was getting dark, and suddenly flew down from the eaves, and mourned each other beside the geese who were unable to fly. The scholar went to look again the next day, and the two wild geese were already dead.

Moyu'er·Yanqiu Ci" is a lyrical poem. On the surface, it is a metaphor for human love by describing the love of a pair of geese, but in fact it is not just about love. Behind this poem, it also reflects Yuan Haowen's longing for his soul mate and life confident.

How much joy, how much pain, or infatuation like children in the world. The wild goose who sacrificed for love thought to himself at that time: That evening, I crossed thousands of miles of clouds and overlooked the earth, thousands of mountains, all covered by thick snow. It's freezing cold, and the future is uncertain. Now in this world, I am the only one left. Who can come and walk with me? Without a partner, why should I move on?

The relationship between this pair of geese, I am afraid that even the gods will be jealous. Such an infatuated wild goose, I don't believe that after it dies, it will turn into a handful of loess just like those ordinary warblers and swallows. Therefore, when Yuan Haowen became an adult, when he recalled the incident of the death of a geese in love, what he saw in his eyes was no longer a simple relationship between a man and a woman. This kind of feeling is a feeling of longing for "confidant" on a larger scale, including the love between men and women.

A person is actually very afraid of loneliness. But it is very regrettable that most of the time in one's life, one has to face loneliness. We all want to find a soul mate who shares the same aspirations as ourselves, because only in this way can we support us through this lonely and lonely life.No matter if the road ahead is Qianshan Muxue or Huohai Daoshan. As long as there is such a soul mate who is willing to come and walk with us, then we have nothing to fear . On the contrary, we may even lose the confidence to live.

The ancients often said: A scholar dies for a confidant. At the beginning of this poem, a question sentence has been passed to point out the theme of the poem. That is - what kind of feelings can make a person make a contract with another person without fear of life and death?

Everyone is afraid of death. Why do some people not only do not fear death, but actively ask for death after losing their soulmate? Could it be that all of this stems only from the instinctive impulse of animals? Obviously not so.

In fact, the goose who sacrificed for love in the poem did not die for "love", but for the sake of "a thousand mountains and twilight snow, only to whom the shadow goes"! Yuan Haowen obviously felt that it was very difficult to find a soul mate who was willing to die for each other. So he wants to build a grave for Dayan, and then write this poem, so that the literati through the ages will take this opportunity to drink and cry because the confidant is hard to find.
