First, a reminder.

Defamation: the act of damaging someone's reputation by saying or writing bad or false things about them.

Slander: a false spoken statement intended to damage the good opinion people have of somebody; the legal offence of making this kind of statement.

My question is simple. Does MDL not care about defamation and slander ? And think it will not be considered responsible for not moderating such legal offenses in the comment sections ?

What urged that question today is that I have been reporting a post for days now, as "Offensive or Spam". First of all, that category is way too large and there should be a specific category for comments that are legally problematic (defamation, slander, harassment, hate, etc.). Secondly, how does the staff do its work regarding these reports ? Where are the rules regarding the moderation of these legal offences (couldn't find them) ? Because I can't understand that a post that is clearly defamatory isn't removed after so much reports and days, and that not a single message has been send to me following the numerous reports explaining why they are not followed by any action. Finally, does MDL think that the website is out of the law and don't have to apply moderation in the comment sections ?

At some point, I will be really considering to report MDL to various countries legal entities competent for websites not compelling with various regulations regarding online legal offences such as defamation, slander, harassment, hate, etc. if no response is given to this very problematic subject.
