About the Timeline of Events

So they basically said whatever with the timeline, make what you will of it 🤣

What do you guys think is the timeline of events?

My understanding is this:
1. 8 years ago
    - Zhu Yan was controlled by the malicious energy during a blood moon, killed the previous Baize Goddess and killed the Demon Hunting Bureau
    - Zhu Yan takes Wen Xiao to the Demon Hunting Bureau where she meets Zhou Yichen
    - In effect of the Baize Goddess’ death, Bai Jiu’s mom turned into her real form. After a few years, Bai Jiu became Wen Zongyu disciple in order to find a way to cure her
2. A year or two BEFORE that (can’t be anything more since Wen Zongyu is human and it can’t have happened at the same time as #1 cause of their hair), Zhu Yan and Li Lun stumbled unto Wen Zongyu’s evil lair, the Ever Burning Wood was transferred to Zhu Yan and him and Li Lun parted ways
    - Li Lun then goes on what is assumed to be a killing spree which then causes the Baize Goddess to imprison him. This was then the start of #1
3. Possibly 6-7 years AFTER #1, the puppet Cheng Huang finds his way to Li Lun, gets the compass, and breaks the barrier separating the Wilderness and the mortal realm.
    - Pei Siheng also becomes a demon at this time
4. This then leads to the start of the story, where Ying Zhao orders Zhu Yan to go to the mortal realm, help the Baize Goddess and save the Wilderness

That's the only timeline that makes any sense. I haven't finished watching yet, but I came here just to find whether someone explained the timeline because it literally makes no sense. According to them all important events happened 8 years ago ....

Exactly. Like, wdym Li Lun and Zhu Yan were still besties 8 years ago? And that Zhu Yan went from having fluffy white hair to long and black in just a span of 8 years? The hair may be explained by some demon magic, but Li Lun and Zhu Yan certainly act like they’ve been separated for centuries!

Hair maybe explained by him simulating human more after parting with Li Lun?  Their split could also be earlier than 1/2 years before massacre as we don't see the face of the doctor Zhu Yan saved from Li Lun so he could have been much younger.

The 8 years was so jarring when they are more than 30 000 years old (and I think basically the same age) but that makes it even worse as they have been all their lives together...and since it was so fresh they hadn't had time to reconcile.

Good theory about the hair! My guess is basically the same, of Zhu Yan adapting to the mortal realm, but also because he’s away from Ying Lei’s grandpa (whose name escapes me right now!) who we know for a fact is the one who braided Zhu Yan and Ying Lei’s hair! Perhaps being away from the grandpa, no one took care to braid his hair anymore haha
