101. Not Me
Thai Drama - 2021, 14 episodes
I wanted to give this an 8/10 for the minor romance. The non romance plot grabbed my attention from the beginning. I didn't feel like fastforwarding. It had a good pace. I appreciated the political commentary. Their little ragtag group of activists was cute and so were their training methods. In the beginning they were so naive in their approaches for achieving justice. Actually I don't think they learned much. This activist group was unrealistic. The drama left some open ends that could've been wrapped up better, but overall I liked it. (Oh, and Black was such an asshole. Sean needed to reign in his emotions).

102. Yoru ga Aketara, Ichiban ni Kimi ni Ai ni Iku
Japanese Movie - 2023
Ahh, I really missed teen japanese romance. In a way, this reminded me of that one jdrama where ML wears a box over his head. I really loved how colorful this movie was...ML's artwork was so pretty.
-
103. Fortune Writer
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
Low budget mini, but cinematically beautiful and dramatic.
It has a rare antagonist female lead, which keeps things interesting and refreshing. It managed to grab my attention. The music was decent. The only complaint I had was about the last few episodes. They kept overusing the slow motion affects. It was like they were trying to copy Zack Snyder's signature style. :P The pacing was also off for these last few episodes. Some things felt rushed, while others felt so slow. -
104. Lovely Runner
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
Ah, I missed high school romance. This was cute and well done. I love the witty parts. For some reason I thought FL was an athlete, but I guess I was wrong. The English title was a bit misleading for that reason. The drama was pretty cute, but then they had to make this romance into a thriller. I really don't have many complaints. The last few episodes do get a bit draggy and repetitive. It also includes fillers, but if you binge-watch this it isn't too noticeable. This couple is very cute together.
-
105. Because of Love
Thai Drama - 2023, 18 episodes
This is a marriage of convenience/contract marriage plot, but ML wants a real marriage. As far as these plots go, it was mediocre. It initially had potential with the supernatural setup and badass female lead. However, as usual, it tanked. It was a waste of talent due to bad writing. FL is a badass bodyguard at times, but other times she's just a doormat. The second half dragged so badly. This could have all been done in 10 episodes. The few scenes I did like were in the beginning and mainly centered around romcom bickering.
-
106. Vengeance of the Bride
Korean Drama - 2022, 102 episodes
This was basically a soap opera that managed to land a weekend drama timeslot. Hence, the disappointment. I think we can all agree that this was bad. However, at times this drama was so bad, it was funny. I'm convinced the writer (known for writing soap operas) made this purposely bad just to gauge reactions. People were so dumb in this drama. Only 2 characters were probably a step ahead.
A lady CEO acquires super secret research papers. Sure, let's not keep it in the safety vault in the CEO's office because the office is not safe. Let's put it in the sauna locker room instead (where the villains go to and the owners can easily unlock). There was no sense of patient confidentiality (as usual). People could just waltz into the CEO's office of ANOTHER company and search through things. NO SECURITY. People got kidnapped off the streets and went missing. Why was it such an impossible task to find them? WHY DID NO ONE GO TO THE COPS??? The villains had no morals. UGH.
Ok, I think it's out of my system. Also, let's not forget the main couple grew up together as siblings. The acting was pretty bad. This director is also mainly a soap opera director that really doesn't have much talent. I like revenge, but this was a revenge flop. The only thing good about it is one of the OST songs. Ok, I'll admit main couple is lowkey cute together (which creeped me out). -
107. Step by Step Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 28 episodes
I really wanted to like this. It started off decent. The beginning was alright as a romcom. The main couple was meant for each other. I like how they started off not being the best kissers and then gradually got better. I have to subtract points for FL's annoying family, particularly the delusional grandma. Sometimes she's smart concerning her granddaughter, but others she's dumb with her calculations and trust in her psycho family. Also, ML's sister becomes high key annoying in the second half...I kind of want to drop my score even more because of that. Overall it's an average cdrama, but slightly better than the other romances coming out this year.
-
108. Manta Ray
Thai Movie - 2018
Not my usual cup of tea, but I liked this movie. I would give the plot a 7, but what really makes this movie stand out is the cinematography. I love the scenic shots and use of light. Of course the actors are great too. This movie can get a bit confusing at times. It's a bit weird and hard to follow (more like trippy and also zen). However, I really liked the symbolism in the movie.
-
109. Original Sin
Chinese Drama - 2018, 24 episodes
I have mixed feelings about this series. The cases were really sad and tragic. However, the show managed to retain my interest as a crime/murder mystery series. The acting and quality of production was really good. It had some gorgeous B roll shots in the form of cityscape and countryside. The cases might've been unrealistic and overdramatized at times. Also, I didn't like how they rushed to wrap things up out of nowhere. Some things caught me off guard, but sometimes it wouldn't even make sense cuz it seemed out of character. Overall, I'd say it was still worth the watch though.
-
110. The Target
Korean Movie - 2014
An older thriller which did not stand the test of time. The action was okay. Nothing really stood out to me. There's a "twist", but it's the second time I'm seeing it this week and I've come to expect this trope. Filing this move under "meh".
Non MDL Remake

111. Have a Crush on You
Chinese Drama - 2023, 36 episodes
Nooo, who wrote that crappy ending??? Not that it was sad or anything, just lazy. This started out fantastic. It had been so long since I came across a drama with good angst. The first third of this was great showing two storylines: the past and the present. It was done well. Unfortunately, when we caught up with the past storyline toward the middle of the series, the drama became super mediocre. Then we had a crappy ending with the last few episodes being filler episodes in some fake African country.
This drama is about a divorced couple reuniting after many years and re-falling in love. There were a lot of people hating on both ML and FL in the comments. ML is most definitely not a green flag, but he's not a red flag either. He's a flawed character. He can't be perfect because there needs to be a reason for the divorce, right? FL has her flaws too, but I really like that the old her respected ML, gave him space, and really tried to be a good wife. I can see how some people found her annoying, but keep in mind she needed to have significant character growth during the time they were apart. It's like she's a different person in the present. The second lead is most definitely a perfect green flag. *sigh* As you can tell, I had MAJOR SLS.
Some of the medical and healthcare inaccuracies were annoying. If you don't work in this field, maybe they're more easy to ignore. Writers needed to do a bit more research on this part. -
112. Let's Date, Professor Xie
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
Low budget mini. Nothing stood out except maybe the final episode lol. Things got a bit better around ep11. I have no clue why this was on my PTW. I think it was because of the Contract Relationship tag. I had to zoom through to finish it, but episodes are short to begin with (around 6 min excluding intro and outro).
-
113. Mischievous Kiss the Movie: High School
Japanese Movie - 2016
I ended up liking this movie. It was a simple adaptation. I think FL is less annoying in this version. I also had less SLS. ML is the same (his typical asshole character). ML's acting could've been better, but then again he was supposed to be playing an ice block. Since it's in movie form a lot was cut out, but it made sense where they ended it. This is part 1 of a 3 part movie series.
-
114. Mischievous Kiss The Movie 2: Campus
Japanese Movie - 2017
Eh, part 2 was alright. Nothing really connected or resonated with me. It had a nice fluffy dog though. I'm off to watch part 3.
-
115. Mischievous Kiss The Movie: The Proposal
Japanese Movie - 2017
And that's a wrap. I can't believe I voluntarily watched this movie trilogy on my own. xD At this point, I'm just trying to collect all the remakes. I liked the first movie, but the movie series got worse and worse. I'm still going to give it the same rating as the 2nd movie. Part 3 actually got better toward the end though.
-
116. The Net
Korean Movie - 2016
This movie was actually really interesting despite the ridiculousness of the situation and some of the characters.
-
117. We're Broke, My Lord!
Japanese Movie - 2023
This was actually pretty entertaining and wholesome. I didn't read the synopsis before watching so I was even more pleasantly surprised. Even though it involves historical accounting, they don't make it business drama boring. And yes, the humor can be silly at times, but it's mostly cute.
-
118. Anime Supremacy!
Japanese Movie - 2022
For the most part, it was a 7/10 for me. However, it did become deeply moving in the last quarter of the film. I was not expecting to get teary eyed. Also, it was interesting to see all the insightful behind the scenes production and direction that goes into creating an anime.
-
119. School Meals Time Graduation
Japanese Movie - 2022
I know the rating isn't that high, but I enjoyed the movie. It's a food comedy about a guy who became a teacher just so he could continue eating school lunches. He is very passionate about eating, especially school meals. For him, lunch is the most important meal of the day. Obviously, I loved the whole food theme. I loved seeing Ichihara Hayato in this role where his character tries to hide his passion. It was just a silly fun story. As for the cons, some of the acting can be over the top (your typical anime style acting). Also, the flow of the story felt off for a movie. It was a bit disjointed at parts, like a bunch of mini episodes combined into one. I think that's because this movie is a continuation of a jdrama that already has 2 seasons. Also, I wasn't able to watch the jdrama so there were times that I felt like I was trying to connect the dots. It made it difficult to become invested in some of the supporting characters. Overall it's skippable, but it might be worth the watch if you miss old school comedy, watch for the food, or for Ichihara Yayato rocking the glasses look. Also a good movie to watch with friends (while eating).
-
120. Blossoms in Adversity
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
This drama had a very average start, but it got better after 10 episodes. I have to say the pacing is very good. I love how smart this FL is. She really inspired me to get off my lazy ass and start researching about investing. ML is just there. Of course he's smart, capable, and a badass fighter. Tbh, the romance was pretty mediocre. There were some moments that I got teary eyed. I guess the main annoying bit was the emperor. Also, I tend to avoid historicals due to the backward mentality of that time period, which can be frustrating to watch. There were some extremely conservative views shown, but then they made it feminist to show girls rising up. I know it was part of their story arc to show character growth. There was still a lot of juxtaposition. Anyways, loved the opening theme song. Btw, I'm still annoyed with that emperor.
-
121. Wedding High
Japanese Movie - 2022
This movie started out boring, so I was a bit skeptical about how it was going to play out. I'm glad I stuck around because it put a big smile on my face. I don't know how to describe it other than this movie was chaotic good. I love how much effort everyone put in to their contribution to the wedding. Best wedding I've seen.
-
122. The Lone Ume Tree
Japanese Movie - 2021
This was difficult to watch for me, not so much for the autistic character, but for how society around him treated him. I loved the social commentary. Main actor did an excellent job. The movie felt a bit lacking though.
-
123. BL Metamorphosis
Japanese Movie - 2022
This movie was the cutest. It's about this cute little old lady who discovers BL manga and forms an unlikely friendship with a high school student. Seeing them form a bond over BL manga was the cutest. There's actually much more to the story. It's got a nice inspirational factor to it too. There's are some wonderful moments showing their parallel struggles, despite both of them having drastically different lives. The girl also learns some lessons from the manga characters she's a fan of. 10/10 would recommend. My heart feels so full.
-
124. We Made a Beautiful Bouquet
Japanese Movie - 2021
Not sure how to rate this one. It's a simple and sweet romance story. The main characters are very compatible with each other. They are OTP. On the other hand, this relationship can be realistic. These two meet during their college years and over time, they both are forced to change and adapt because of life. Of course nothing can be perfect. At the end of the day, I can still say I liked the movie. I'm just not sure if it was worth my time or my cup of tea.
-
125. Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl
Japanese Movie - 1999
Taking a break from jff to watch one of kino's obscure film finds. This one was just a silly action comedy thriller. It's harder to rate older movies from the 90s, but it was probably good for its time. It managed to make me laugh despite the strange humor. The music certainly rocked.
-
126. Kiba: The Fangs of Fiction
Japanese Movie - 2021
This film is very business drama like. It dives into the world of publishing. FL is an editor. Unfortunately, publishing and editing has been depicted before in dramas and movies. You would think it's a dry subject, but those other dramas made it seem interesting. However, the publishing world shown in this movie was low key not as exciting. That's not to say this was bad. Also, this movie had a slow start, but the second half was a bit better than the first.
-
127. Single8
Japanese Movie - 2023
ust dorks being dorks. This movie is a coming of age film about a group of students who decide to make an amateur SciFi film together (without using CGI). This movie is meant for nerds, cinephiles, and perhaps fans of SciFi. I loved all the low budget tricks they used to try to get all the effects they wanted.
#jff (kino would probably like this) -
128. Father of the Milky Way Railroad
Japanese Movie - 2023
This was a biopic about a famous Japanese writer/poet. I went into this movie blind. I definitely needed more background context. Maybe I would've appreciated this film more if I read this author's works. It was kind of hard to see where this movie was going or who was the main character. Mostly, I was bored. This is not my cup of tea.
-
129. The Lines that Define Me
Japanese Movie - 2022
There probably isn't anything super outstanding about the story itself, but this movie really resonated with me. It's a very peaceful and relaxing film. The artwork is stunning. The music is great. ML's backstory low key brought tears to my eyes. I liked the overall message about creating your own lines.
-
130. The Handsome Suit
Japanese Movie - 2008
Just noticed the release year and this explains so much. The humor seemed outdated and this style of slapstick humor was not for me. There was a really gross spit scene with so much second hand embarrassment >_<. The general message of the movie seemed okay. I guess you could say there's a twist, but it's easily predictable.
-
131. The Atypical Family
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
It was alright and probably got better in the second half. I like my supernatural dramas, but they hardly had powers in the beginning. Also, it was hard for me to get into the series initially because I didn't like FL and her family. Of course, they became more likable later on, but the damage was done. Overall, decent drama with room for lots of improvement. ML's hairstyle wasn't doing any favors either.
-
132. The Zen Diary
Japanese Movie - 2022
Just like you would expect from the title, this movie is peaceful and healing. Normally I wouldn't be into such slow paced stuff, but it managed to hold my interest. There is a big food theme and a cute dog named "Prickly-ash". Each month or season means there is a new fruit or vegetable in season. You get to see the main character prepare a dish. Sometimes it reminded me of watching boy scouts finding food in the wild and preparing it. It was all very fascinating. I loved the respect and passion ML had for food. I appreciated the etiquette. Also, the cinematography was great and soothing. There are plenty of scenic shots as ML lives in a remote, but beautiful mountainous area.
#jff (I could see kino and meng liking this one too). -
133. My Broken Mariko
Japanese Movie - 2022
A sad movie with subject matter that is difficult to digest for some. I feel like I've seen a lot of this stuff before in other movies and drama...suicide, survivor's guilt, healing, etc.
-
134. I Go GaGa: Welcome Home, Mom
Japanese Movie - 2022
OMG, this couple was the cutest. T-T Scratch that, the whole family was the cutest! This documentary takes a look at Japan's aging society as a couple decide to take care of each other despite their old age. The movie is directed by their daughter, who filmed her parents aging over multiple years. It's just so touching to see everyone take care of each other. You're probably guaranteed to shed some tears...Don't worry, it's not super depressing. This movie will make you smile too.
-
135. I Am What I Am
Japanese Movie - 2022
The last film I had in my jff lineup. I loved this film. It just spoke to me. FL is asexual and it's just a film about her living her life. In a world where there is so much pressure to be in a relationship, FL struggles to convey her feelings about love. The Cinderella video was cute.
-
136. Frankly Speaking
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I think this drama had potential as a romance, but they screwed up by making it supernatural. While the concept was nice, they failed in the execution. ML gets electrocuted and basically loses his ability to lie. Not just that, he loses his filter and starts saying completing embarrassing things about himself. It makes it nearly impossible for him to do his job as an anchor. The public image/persona he built gets thrown out the window. FL tries to give him a new chance in the world of variety shows, which contrasts with the serious, professional image he built up. Anyways, what irked me is that his anti-lying habit would get triggered every time he sneezed and then FL somehow had the ability to switch it off. It was the switching back and forth in unexpected situations that irked me. I liked ML's character growth. FL had an interesting backstory, too but they randomly kind of included it toward the end. The drama also had a good cast.
-
137. Secrets of the Shadow Sect
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
You can't expect much from a low budget mini. I liked that FL was a badass. ML was kind of uninteresting. It was funny when FL asked ML to be her male escort. xD The revenge storyline was satisfying. The part with the creepy brother was really annoying and weird. That extra drama toward the end was unnecessary.
-
138. Shitamachi Rocket
Japanese Drama - 2015, 10 episodes
This is basically an old school jdrama from 2015. I thought it would be more science related because of the English title "Downtown Rocket", but it really is just a dry business drama about parts manufacturing. The first half was semi-interesting and dealt with a copyright infringement case involving a rocket valve. Second half dealt with medical parts manufacturing. It is filled with greedy corporate people being evil. This business drama was not for me. I believe this is by the same writer as Hanzawa Naoki.
-
139. Parallel Novel
Korean Movie - 2016
Oooh, this short film was really creative. Would've loved to see more, but alas, it is a short film. It's enough to leave room for imagination.
-
140. Golden House Hidden Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
A surprising hidden gem. I was looking for a light romcom to watch and it hit the spot. The drama is slightly low budget for a supernatural romcom. However, I found myself having fun. The comedy is entertaining. The romance is cute. The plot has many twists and turns. ML is a green flag and it also doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes. I enjoyed this drama quite a lot. You might see a few cheesy tropes, but it's kind of what I was expecting for this genre. Highly recommend if you're looking for something light.
-
141. Present, Is Present
Chinese Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
The quality is good. This drama kept giving me whiplash. Every time they changed the past, so much was altered. I feel like another person became evil every time. I'm not sure how I feel about that ending either. In other dramas, I would've loved it, but for this drama, I'm like "What's the point of making us go through all that?" Also, I found their relationship status can be a bit confusing. One minute they're fake dating and the next they're deeply in love. On the plus side, this drama is short and fast paced.
-
142. Secret Domei
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Not sure how to rate this one. FL can be frustratingly weak for valid reasons. The drama is dark and twisted, which makes it oddly fascinating. It's got some really psycho messed up characters. It can be frustrating, but I guess I was here for the wild ride. With only 12 20 min episodes, it's pretty short. Apparently the manga is better. I could see that being true.
-
143. Under the Gun
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
Interesting concept with the gambling theme. It was a bit confusing at first because I thought most gambling is illegal in Korea. Apparently, ML hung out with the underground gamblers. Main couple is cute, though ML is gloomy for most of the drama. I think this could've benefited from being a movie instead of a miniseries.
-
144. It's Beautiful Now
Korean Drama - 2022, 50 episodes
*tears of joy* After 1 year and 8 months, I can finally remove this off my currently watching list. xD It's a weekend family drama involving the main family that has 3 sons. The parents come up with a scheme to get their kids married by offering an apartment to the son who gets married first. The concept is fun, but it is a makjang after all. You have to deal with annoying, irrational moms and mother in laws, but other than that things were solid. The cast is pretty good in this drama. There is a theme built around the stigma of adoption, adoptees, and orphans. I thought it added a nice touch to the drama. If you're a foreigner watching this, it might seem absurd. However, I appreciate how they took some time to address some of these social issues. You're going to have to fast-forward quite a bit. They spent time on one issue for wayyy too long. Also, it got a bit draggy toward the end and they added a completely unnecessary trope. Maybe the writers were trying to tick of all the main makjang trope checkboxes. If you like your weekend family dramas, this one will hit the spot despite the flaws.
-
145. The Real Has Come!
Korean Drama - 2023, 50 episodes
I finished this way too quickly. ?Two words: Baby Fever (probably to address S. Korea's low birth rate). I feel a bit conflicted about this drama. On one hand, it's a contract marriage plot that's highly addicting. On the other hand, it is more daytime soap opera than it is a family weekend drama. Expect an illogical plot, generic set lighting, poor acting, contradictory hypocritical characters, ridiculous logic, etc. Although it's a family drama, what makes it unusual is that this drama actually has villains in it. They are given a redemption arc, which isn't all that satisfying, but it is what it is. If you go in with low expectations expecting daytime soap opera standards, then you should be okay. I'm so glad they didn't go into business drama or succession politics. Contract marriage dramas are super rare these days, so I still ended up loving it. It is most definitely an outdated plot, but that's what I've been missing. It was a bit nostalgic. The main couple have mid chemistry, but these dramas tend to be conservative about that stuff. ML's grandmother had the most character growth. Can I call her the protagonist? ? I'm a bit on the slow side. It wasn't until I finished the drama and looked at the title again did I finally get the play on words. ? On another note, SML actor surprised me. I would love to see more of him.
-
146. I Have a Lover
Korean Drama - 2015, 50 episodes
Started this last night and finished it in almost a day! This is a weekend makjang that's more on the melo/serious side. It had horrible people who raised horrible kids. Despite the slow start, the story got really interesting after 10 episodes. There were some iconic moments that made me lol. The FL pouring toilet water into a jug, adding some sliced lemons, and making her husband drink it was one of them. XD I had SLS too. I was not expecting to tear up over the SML. Main couple had great chemistry and I hate that I liked them together. As for the secondary couple...I actually liked the Doctor x Little Girl duo. I thought I'd be creeped out, but it was cute and innocent. I didn't care much for the girl's mom. There was so much wasted potential for this character. The lead actress was simply fantastic playing multiple roles. The last 15 episodes were super draggy. I feel like they could've finished the show in 40 episodes.
7/10 for today's standards, but giving it a boost. For 2015 standards I think it's slightly above average. -
147. Eternity
Thai Movie - 2011
I went into this movie blind and forced myself to watch something outside my comfort zone. Slow cinema is not my cup of tea so it was difficult for me to appreciate this film for what it was worth. Pros: Excellent sound editing with country life sounds. Lots of peaceful nature scenes. Cute main couple. Cons: Slow AF. Opening scene was just main character riding back and forth on a motorbike for 5 minutes on open country road. The ending was confusing.
Lesson learned: Read the synopsis before you watch this film otherwise it does not make sense, especially if you go into it blind. I was not a fan of this "story" and I'm not the biggest slow cinema fan with my short attention span, so I guess I didn't like it as much. -
148. Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale
Korean Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
It's a dumb, but fun drama. You have to have the right mental framework before watching. Give into your inner child or immature self because of how silly it is. There was so much second hand embarrassment in the beginning. It sort of has a cheap production vibe to it. The costumes sometimes reminded me of old school jdramas. where they depicted rich people with this exaggerated, outdated fashion look. On another note, Jun was adorable in this. Yes, I'm completely biased when it comes to him. It was fun, short, and silly, but is very much skippable.
-
149. 55:15 Never Too Late
Thai Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Okay, I think I'm just in a slump because I really loved the concept of this drama and thought it was so refreshing. However, I struggled to get through it. The plot centers around multiple characters and each has their own story. I like the stories of some characters more than others. I felt like fast forwarding through the boring ones so I felt like I suffered. One of my favorites was the boxer storyline. I also thought this had a slow start. Things started to pick up in the second half where all the storylines started to make sense. But yeah, a lot of this felt draggy to me and I couldn't get into the music. Maybe if they focused on 2 characters instead of 5, I would've been more into it.
#C5 Challenge Round 5 (Jelena) Complete -
150. Rikuoh
Japanese Drama - 2017, 10 episodes
This was the second drama that was featured for jff. Like the other drama, it has a similar manufacturing theme and is about a small business owner. It's also written by the same writer (who is famous for writing Hanzawa Naoki). This time it features a small business that makes tabi (Japanese traditional socks). In order to not to become obsolete, they try to develop tabi inspired running shoes. The whole process is quite actually interesting. This is the second shoe manufacturing drama I've seen in the last two months and for some reason they manage to hold my attention. The science and research that goes into shoe design and development is actually really interesting to me. The drama has its corny moments and has similar themes of evil competitor and horrible banking system. They are huge obstacles to face for this small business. A lot of the problems that happened in this drama were already potential problems I had thought about early on. It was frustrating to sit through because it could have been avoided (but of course we need drama). The story was interesting and inspiring enough to hold my attention. It was much better than watching that rocket drama.

151. Senior
Thai Movie - 2015
A low budget cheesy horror movie with some good twists. This movie was very random at times with extreme transitions. It was like this was filmed by multiple directors because the tone of the movie would shift instantly. One minute you're watching an intense scooby doo murder mystery and then the next you've got some light romcom scenes. Not to mention there were some very graphic scenes that came out of nowhere. It was like it was the director/screenwriter's portfolio project since he was trying to showcase multiple genres and styles of editing. The sound mixing was a bit of a miss for me. It consisted of an interesting choice of background music. It took me a while to understand how FL's supernatural powers work as well as how ghost powers work. I had to shut my brain off, but in the end I actually enjoyed it. I was not able to predict the story at the end. If you like B horror, you might like this because that's what it is: cheap, campy, gory, and surprisingly a bit scary.

152. The Midnight Romance in Hagwon
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
A slow paced slice of life with a slow burn romance. It is incredibly rare where a drama has me yearning for just a bit more. This is one of those dramas. It's noonamance set around Korea's afterschool academies. It has a similar vibe to Something in the Rain because it has the same director. I actually liked this a lot better than Something in the Rain. Let's just say it had less toxic parents. It's more of a business drama involving cutthroat competition and secret alliances between the different academies. I loved the main cast. The main thing I didn't like was the music. It wasn't bad, but it felt outdated and overplayed. It was also very similar to Something in the Rain. Also, the ending felt slightly unfinished. It was fine where they left off, but it would've been nice to show what happened to the other characters, especially the antagonists.
-
153. Secret Zoo
Korean Movie - 2020
It's probably a 7, but I really liked how absurd the concept was. It started off slow and had a few slow moments in between, but plenty of laugh out loud moments. Plus, if you like animals than I think you'll find it amusing. This falls under dumb, but fun comedy.

154. The Double
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
Aaah, it's been awhile since I fell in love with a drama this hard. It was super addicting and aesthetic. I loved all the dramatic slow motion shots. It did a great job of building up the tension. This drama had 3 directors, one of which was the director of Go Princess Go. His influence was noticable. Lots of aesthetic shots of colorful clothes blowing in the wind, lots of petals falling, and flowers everywhere. Even when FL fell, she lands gracefully injured on the floor. xD
The drama had plenty of good looking actors. Speaking of which, this cast was stacked. They had actors from the big leagues playing supporting roles. Joe Chen is a prime example. I thought I was seeing things, but it really was her. Let's not forget the sadistic princess. The actress ate and left no crumbs. Her subtle crazy eyes and performance stole the show for me.
The revenge story was great. It got a bit slow toward the middle. There were lots of tangent stories. They keep introducing new characters (possibly bad guys). I needed some of the revenge to happen earlier on in the drama and have it spread throughout the drama. They kind of waited toward the end for most of the bad guys to go down. That too, I would've preferred for them to go down in humiliation. Also, if you want cute romantic scenes, this drama isn't for you, but they do offer a very short special as fanservice with more cute content. -
155. The Double Special
Chinese Special - 2024, 1 episode
It seems like they took all special stories from the novel and combined them together. Cute and fluffy, but very disconnected.
-
156. 18-sai, Niizuma, Furin Shimasu.
Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
It's a cringey Japanese romance with a super outdated plot. FL got into Tokyo University, but her parents want her to get married at 18 instead. It just sounds odd for today. However, it's a contract relationship/marriage of convenience plot and that's what I was here for. FL might be a bit naive, but I enjoyed them slowly falling in love. The age gap is low key creepy because he's known her for 10 years. I just had to roll with it for my sanity. Anyways, I am fully warning everyone that this is cringey, especially with the way ML puts the moves on her. However, don't think you've got the plot figured out because it might have some unexpected twists. Honestly, I was thrilled with the 2nd half. The ending was weird. I think I just liked how I was expecting this to be super bad, but it ended up being an unexpected ride instead.
-
157. Typhoon Club
Japanese Movie - 1985
A surprisingly progressive coming of age film from the 80s. It's about highschoolers doing dumb stuff in the middle of a typhoon. It had a decent amount of comedic scenes. Only two scenes left me traumatized...one that will probably give me PTSD for a while. I probably would've rated it higher if not for one unexpected horror like scene. Make sure to check for triggers. Anyways, I survived Kino's Saturday film.
-
158. Lost You Forever
Chinese Drama - 2023, 39 episodes
I guess I should give this an 8 since I was hooked and breezed right through it. FL has an interesting harem of men in love with her. I actually enjoyed the love square. All of them have flaws, but they have their strengths too. Of course I fall for the bad boys. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Can't wait to see what the second half has in store. I'm looking forward to FL being more of a badass. I like how there wasn't much cattiness in this drama. For those most part, there aren't many female snakes.
-
159. Unrequited Love
Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes
Your average university romance. Apparently I watched the remake and didn't like it as much, but I liked this version better. This is like the cliff notes version so it was nice and short. We didn't have to watch most of the annoying filler drama. The cast seemed a bit older for the high school/college aged roles they were playing. I didn't mind this though. This drama has a few poisonous snakes. Overall, nice and short watch.
-
160. Ohlala Couple
Korean Drama - 2012, 18 episodes
Cliff notes version: I was forced to pick up a drama I dropped 12 years. It was absolutely horrible. The ML was a piece of ?. The writer was sadistic with all the horrible and painful things he planned to happen to the FL who did NOTHING wrong to deserve this torture and punishment. Just when you think it can't get any worse, the writer will surprise you by making it worse and worse almost every other episode. Just how much is too much pain? For me, it was back in episode 2 when I first rage quit. It also had a terrible ending (not surprising). I'm just glad this writer was kicked out of the industry. This drama had one of the most fxcked up plots.
-
161. Long Vacation
Japanese Drama - 1996, 11 episodes
This japanese romance is a classic. Kimura Takuya was japan's golden boy back in the 90s and 2000s and he is still very beloved even today. I got a nice sense of nostalgia watching this. It threw me off how different life was without cellphones. I totally forgot about that. This couple was really cute. It aired in the 90s so it can be dated. The main thing I really did not like was the FL and the way she barged into ML's life. She was also very obnoxious in the beginning. It also annoyed me the way these other couples were lowkey cheating on each other when they were with someone else. I'm glad FL's brother turned his life around, but it was still weird to see the casual hookups and ambiguous relationships. That's probably why I never was planning to watch it, but I'm glad I did. I can now check this classic off my list.
-
162. In Blossom
Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes
This was ultimately too long for me, especially with the draggy second half. The main thing I found refreshing is that FL is a coroner, which kept things interesting. I didn't care much for the body swap storyline, though the tension around the revenge story had me hooked. A lot of people were complaining about the actress change. I think the main actress is beautiful. The villainous, bold look really suits her and she plays it well. After seeing her play that, it's hard to get attached to the cutesy, sweet look of the FL. On the other hand, one can argue that's it's even more unbelievable that FL is in that body. The criminal cases were okay. After a while, you notice a pattern. Most of the murderers had tragic backstories of their own. I had SLS and was content with the secondary couple pairing. Overall, 32 eps felt too long to get to the mastermind and I was exhausted by the end.
Watch Challenge Prompts: Misunderstanding, Butterfly, Bug, Bee -
163. Ryusei no Kizuna
Japanese Drama - 2008, 10 episodes
A great drama with a stacked cast. I guess you could say this plot was chaotic good. It's about three siblings going around conning people and secretly investigating their parent's murder. For the cons, the crazy and absurd drama like scenarios ML would come up with really won me over. xD This drama is a murder mystery, but it's a really unserious one. It's also really nostalgic cuz it's from the jdrama era that made me fall in love with Asian dramas. Despite that, I'd say it aged surprisingly well.
-
164. My ID Is Gangnam Beauty
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Honestly, I went in with incredibly low expectations so this was not as terrible as I thought it was going to be. I binged through this series pretty quickly. I was still very uncomfortable around the whole theme regarding Korea's obsession with beauty and plastic surgery, especially because of the country's increasingly narrow beauty standards. I know some South Korean's even resort to getting plastic surgery just to get a job because of how difficult it is to get one if you're "ugly". The drama also has a lot of annoying and disgusting shallow characters who make shallow remarks. As annoying as they were, this is an actual representation of how some people are irl. I like how the drama addressed some of these social issues. I also like how they didn't show FL's past "ugly" face. It was a great way of protecting the child actress and showing that there really wasn't anything wrong with her in the first place. The annoying characters were difficult to watch, so I zoomed quite a bit. I should add that I watched this series at 1.6-1.9x speed, whereas I rarely go beyond 1.4x. I especially hated the snake who got so much screen time. As for the acting, FL did a decent job. ML didn't have to do much acting other than sit, walk, and look pretty.

165. The Producers
Korean Drama - 2015, 12 episodes
I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. I probably wouldn't have appreciated it as much when it aired. Now that I'm watching it years later, I'm loving the nostalgia. It had a great cast with plenty of epic cameos. It was refreshing to see what goes on behind the scenes of variety shows. The writer did her homework and so did the producers! This style if filming is different than the usual drama style because it's a bit more of a mockumentary. It might take some getting used to. The more familiar you are with variety shows and celebrities that were popular in the 2010s, the more rewarding the show is. You will be able to appreciate the jokes and the cameos. It had a few slow moments that I fast forwarded through, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the show.

Basically a short recap of the entire drama in one episode with some bloopers. The bloopers are cute and amusing, but very few.

167. We Best Love: No. 1 For You
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
Maybe it's a 7.5 for the plot, but I loved it for its simplicity. It's a pretty simple and straightforward story that's short and sweet. No side character formulaic nonsense. The main couple is very cute together. I was not expecting our homeboy ML to have a rolls royce with a chauffeur. xD There were also just some random funny moments that made me lol.

Ugh, drama. They're building it up for s2. It makes the story interesting though.
-
169. We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
I didn't like this as much as the first season. This season was more serious. There was more drama and the plot focused more on the secondary couple that I didn't care too much about. I also wasn't into the business drama either. On the plus side, the main couple is older and arguably more mature.
-
170. We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd - Special Episode 6.5

Unpopular opinion: I didn't care for this couple, but the doctor is one of my favorite characters.

171. My Military Valentine
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
've seen from the first writer. This was not good. If you did not read the synopsis beforehand, the story was confusing and difficult to follow. It felt all over the place. I couldn't get into it, and I really tried. I was rooting for this drama cuz I love both main actors. It was the first time ML was in a lead role in a romance. Too bad it was a flop. The villains were super lame. The dynamics of the defense force were confusing. Why was there a random Korean American dude speaking English all the time? A random kpop fangirl had the key evidence and decides to deliver it to her idol oppa?? to save him?? Make it make sense.

Low budget mini cdrama with a body swap theme. Unfortunately, I took a break and forgot almost everything. From what I recall, the body swap comedy was decent. It's not bad, but is very much forgettable.

173. Insect Detective
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
Bugs and Insects might not be what most people are into. You could say the same for this drama. I didn't find it terrible. Some cases were more interesting than others. A few of them were boring so you may have to zoom through. The major plot twists were predictable, but a few minor twists did catch me off guard.

174. Ripe Town
Chinese Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
A+ Production. Amazing cinematography and cast. It initially was very difficult for me to get into due to the slow pace and non linear storytelling. However, it all came together beautifully in the end. Those last few episodes were so good. It's also frustrating to watch these types of mysteries sometimes cuz it's like they're speaking in code. So many hidden double meanings that unfortunately cannot be captured by English subs. Anyways, there were a few things I wished they explained more instead of keeping it a secret. I'm sure the main character finds out the whole truth in the end, but I wish I could've seen it happen.
@Crafty's favorite drama complete.

175. Playing House
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
Low budget mini drama that falls under the realm of trash, but it was fun trash. I enjoyed it. Expect bad acting and horrible dubbing, but it does have a fun plot with your typical narcissist male lead. It was dumb humor that made me smile.

176. As Beautiful as You
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
At the end of the day this was a business drama, but the fact that it revolved around 3D printing made it semi-refreshing. I love both the lead actors. Xu Kai excels at playing bad boy roles. While he was not a "bad boy" here, his characters had some red flags. Due to his previous bad boy roles, I think this role suited him. Some people were complaining that FL is dumb. I think she is STEM smart, but not business smart, especially in the beginning. However, this drama is all about her character growth so some of her dumb decisions weren't a problem for me. There were plenty of kisses in this drama so that's a plus for romance fans. Other than that, I'd say the drama felt really long in the second half. I was exhausted by the end, but I enjoyed it.

177. To the Wonder
Chinese Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
This is such a wonderful and beautifully written drama. There are so many layers to it. I can't even begin to organize my thoughts without writing a whole thesis. The initial slow pace was the main thing that lowered my rating, It took me a while to get into it. However, I really connected with the main character. Just like how FL yearned for the city life, I initially really wanted it to be more fast paced. However, I was forced to slow down and appreciate the tribal nomadic life. It was beautiful indeed! They really do have some great traditions. Speaking of traditions, the way this drama addresses them is so poignant. Without giving too much away, I can say the farm animals are adorable. Camels are such cool animals and highly underrated. I loved FL's character growth by the end of the drama. Also, in order to really appreciate this drama, it helps to know the political landscape of this region. I'm sure there were many amazing parts of the script that got lost in translation. Overall, it's an excellent drama that showcases a culture and region without being too controversial. I can't believe it was only 8 episodes. It felt like so much happened in that short amount of time.
-
178. Meet Yourself
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
I put this on hold for 8 months, but I can finally mark it complete! How do I put this? It is a high production drama filled with a stellar cast from the lead characters, to the granny, and even the small kiddos. The direction is phenomenal too with plenty of aesthetic, scenic shots that showcase the beauty of this region and the culture. Also, you can't forget about the adorable animals. They just let the local cats do their thing and incorporated as part of the dialogue. There were plenty of wholesome moments in this drama. They showcased the struggles of people who live in this remote regions. The drama's aim was to be soothing and healing. It was almost too good at it. I found it SO relaxing that I kept falling asleep while watching it. ^^;; The drama is very slow paced and I struggled with it. It was only after I discovered I could watch this with enhanced playback speed that I was able to finish it. It felt like half the time was spent with people eating/sipping tea and chit chatting. Keep in mind the drama is 40 episodes. The soothing music didn't help me either. This drama reminded me of chamomile tea...it's got this herbal soothing quality to it that's good for you, but can knock you out.

179. Business Kon: Suki ni Nattara Rikonshimasu
Japanese Drama - 2024, 9 episodes
Somewhat cringe Japanese romance, but way less cringe than the usual stuff. It's a contract marriage plot, which satisfied my tastes. Someone pointed out that they were filming in front of a green screen in the first episode (restaurant scene) and that kind of ruined the experience for me because I couldn't stop noticing it or looking out for it. Other than that, the second half gets better. It's a fairly simple and straightforward plot.
-
180. Serendipity's Embrace
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
A simple plot involving two former high school classmates reuniting and falling in love. I very much enjoyed it. The comedy actually made me smile and laugh. It was short too so nothing got dragged out too much. I think there was mainly 1 filler episode. ML's mom was toxic, but ngl she made things interesting. Many people felt that the ending was rushed, but I like where they left off. I'm probably in the minority though. Some plot points and character behaviors were not expanded on due to the short length. I was ok with that.
-
181. The Tale of Rose
Chinese Drama - 2024, 38 episodes
The main thing I like about it is the cast consisting of experienced and veteran actors. I also loved FL's character growth by the end. FL starts out as a very chaotic and somewhat immature (spoiled) girl and becomes incredibly mature by the end. It was quite the journey as FL experiences ups and downs. This reminds me of those "The Legend of" historical dramas, except it's a more modern, contemporary version.
-
182. Godzilla Minus One
Japanese Movie - 2023
Fantastic. It has a little bit of everything. WWII, PTSD, love, heartbreak, loss, sacrifice, and combat. Not to mention the great action sequences and visual FX. I loved ML's character growth. I also loved how it incorporated science and military tactics. This is not unusual for Godzilla movies, but I really felt like everyone worked as a team in this one. Also, Godzilla is just an amazing badass. What a worthy nemesis to unite everyone.

183. Miss Night and Day
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
It took me a month to complete, but I loved it. I watched it with my family and they loved it too. The comedy in the first half was amusing. Also, the cat was adorable. The drama tends to have a few of these slow moments where they spent too long on some scenes. They felt like filler moments and were unbearable to watch at 1x speed. The second half was slow too. Also, there was overuse of flashbacks. I think they showed that one scene with young ML at least 10 times. The writers made it difficult predict who the killer was, but I was able to predict who it was from early on. I think it's safe to say Lee Jung Eun stole (and saved) the show in this adorable ahjumma role. I would love to see more of her in cute and fun roles like this in the future.
-
184. House
Japanese Movie - 1977
This was such a strange movie, but I oddly liked it. It starts out with a little Marry Poppins vibe and turns into something completely else. Luckily there was a fluffy white cat throughout the movie that helped keep me interested. What can I say? It's one of those low budget horror comedies that you can't take seriously. You just have to turn your brain off and laugh along at the absurdity and dumbness of it all. Some of the stuff is creative and uniquely twisted. I'll leave it at that.
-
185. Grand Guignol
Japanese Movie - 2022
I have no clue what I just watched. Extreme horror. Extremely graphic. Extremely weird. It wasn't even the funny kind of bad horror that occasionally makes you laugh. They tried to disturb the audience as much as possible. Alas, I mainly watch things for the plot and this movie was unsatisfying in that aspect.
-
186. My Sweet Mobster
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
Just a silly fun drama that I had to shut my brain off to watch. I loved the wholesome ex-mobster gang. Even the villain's catlike behavior made me lol. Also, ML's voice was music to my ears. I hope to see (and hear) him in more roles. ♥ That being said, I had to fast forward a lot. They kept repeating a few plot points about the past, which got annoying. I loved the secondary couple's storyline.
-
187. Beach Boys
Japanese Drama - 1997, 12 episodes
For a 90s jdrama, this aged surprisingly well. It also felt timely that I watched it at the end of Summer. I mainly loved the bromance and the shenanigans these two would get up to. They were like older brothers to the FL. It was pretty wholesome. I had to fast forward a bit due to occasional slow pace, but overall, it's a nice watch.
-
188. Beach Boys Special
Japanese Special - 1998, 1 episode
I actually like how this special showed how their lives changed months later. It felt like a nice reunion episode.
-
189. Parasyte: The Grey
Korean Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
If you're a fan of the genre, this is a fun action packed monster series. The only thing that annoyed me was how stubborn the leader of Team Grey was in the beginning. This series is short and to the point. It doesn't drag much. I loved the cameo at the end.
-
190. OMG! Vampire
Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
I had no expectations so I wasn't as disappointed as most people. Not many people were expecting this to be a slapstick comedy. The humor is questionable, but there were a few moments that made me lol. As a Thai BL, there's plenty of shirtless scenes. There is a heavy emphasis on lust (which isn't really my thing). There were some non consensual stuff that happened which made me uncomfortable, but honestly I've seen a whole lot worse.
-
191. Boku no Itoshii Youkai Girlfriend
Japanese Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
What a nice surprise! This was actually a really fun series. The music was great. The action was great. The comedy was on point. The humor had a similar style to I Am Nobody. The story was interesting and even had some twists. This series is a perfect watch for October.
-
192. Somewhere Only We Know
Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes
A very mediocre college drama with a few surprises. FL's friends were horrible (not to FL, but with their terrible decision making and demands). It's hard to dislike ML. The lead actor is practically considered a national treasure. Hearing him talk is like chicken soup for the soul. The second half was mostly boring. One surprise toward the end really threw me off. Speaking of endings, the last episode was a disappointment. It was just lazy.
-
193. Seobok
Korean Movie - 2021
An interesting sci-fi that makes you think about life and death. It has a great cast, starring Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum as the main leads. It certainly put me on an emotional journey even though I could foresee the outcome.
-
194. Cinderella at 2 AM
Korean Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I needed something light and fluffy to watch. This drama came to me right when I needed it and I think that's what made all the difference. I found it to be cute and funny. Actually, it was a lot funnier than I was expecting it to be. The plot is pretty simple for a romcom and occasionally uses the common tropes such as accidently tripping, etc. I wasn't expecting anything new. However, the way the writers depicted FL's "evil" family members was very refreshing. With only 10 episodes, it's short and sweet. Maybe the last few episodes were slower than usual. The secondary couple was definitely a highlight of the show. Overall, this was a very fun romcom with a minor serious subplot.
-
195. Dangerous Love
Korean Special - 2006, 1 episode
I watched this almost 15 years later after its release. It's a DBSK parody movie. The parody movie concept feels a bit dated, and that canned laughter was awful. I'll be honest, I didn't find it that funny, but I still managed to get into the story. I probably would have liked it a lot more if I watched it when it came out and DBSK were at their peak. There's plenty of fanservice. It is still worth watching for the bloopers and BTS footage, which are hilarious.
-
196. Umi no Hajimari
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I loved this drama so much. It will probably be my favorite jdrama of the year. Technically, the overall story is nothing new. It involves a guy learning he actually has a daughter he didn't know about. But instead of taking the comedy route like most dramas do, this one took the heartwarming drama route. Umi, the daughter, is absolutely precious and adorable. She stole the show. I loved everyone's character growth by the end. All the characters were well rounded, and I love the way they were written. Actually, I could relate with ML with how undecisive he was all the time. I love that decision making was a big theme of this show. I felt all sorts of emotions watching this: joy, love, sadness. I teared up quite a bit. This drama made me want to have children. Some things felt unrealistic though. Umi is practically an angel since she's such a well-behaved child. Let's face it. Most kids are not. ML got really lucky. ML's ex is selfish and I'm glad they politely touch up on that.
-
197. Ghost Yankee
Japanese Drama - 2024, 5 episodes
I was never really a fan of yankee dramas, but the supernatural element kept me interested. It's a nice and light watch with only 5 episodes. If you're looking for something ghost themed that's not scary, this drama would be it.
-
198. Lost
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
I really wanted to like it. On one hand, I can acknowledge how well this was written. All of these so called random characters were intricately connected. On the other hand, almost everyone was so miserable and depressed. They were living such awful lives. For me. it was almost agonizing to watch. There were some horrible people and I wanted to them to be humiliated. Things didn't quite go down as I wanted, which left me disappointed. This drama is also slow paced and also a slow burn romance, which is most definitely not my cup of tea.
-
199. "Watashi wo Moratte": Tsuioku Hen
Japanese Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Okay, false alarm. It turns out I did complete this. It just ended at a really weird part since the drama is technically split in two. I was enjoying this ghost romance. It's got a nice spin to it in that ML loves her from the beginning. He's not just some annoying ghost that's bothering her like most are. The murder mystery story is pretty average, but, I'm enjoying the drama series so far.

200. My School President
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
I remember this being so hyped back when it aired. I don't get the hype cuz the story is technically an average Thai school BL plot. Honestly, I'm a little over it. That being said, the music is outstanding. The only reason it was worth watching was for the soundtrack. I wish someone just made a compilation of just the music so I could watch that instead. Also, I loved Tinn's dad. It was refreshing to see the actor play this loving goofball when the actor usually gets typecast as the villain. Overall, it's not bad, but my heart couldn't get into it except for the music.
