Ma Chi Chin was a Taiwanese actress and producer, born in Xian, Shaanxi, China, before relocating with her family to Beijing and later Taiwan in her early childhood. She developed an interest in theater at a young age, often attending Peking opera performances at her grandparents' troupe. In 1956, she became one of the first students to enroll in the Department of Drama at the National Academy of Arts (國立臺灣藝術大學), graduating in 1959. Afterward, she joined the Haiguang Drama Troupe (海光話劇隊) of the Republic of China Navy (中華民國海軍). In 1974, she began working with CTV.

Ma was married three times and had one daughter and four sons.

Ma passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022, at the age of 80. She had been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) three years earlier, which led to a loss of mobility and speech. Her death was announced by a pastor from the Christian Artist Home (中華基督教藝人之家).
