- Nationality: South Korean

- Born: September 12, 1996

Around 2011, he followed his sister to South Korea as she had to briefly return to solve visa issues. After careful consideration, both decided to stay. The siblings, under the name AKDONG MUSICIAN, joined Proteurment (an intercollegiate association that supports amateur artists) after they were discovered on YouTube. They began performing on stages with an original song titled "Galaxy".
In August 2012, they entered the singing survival competition "K-Pop Star 2", which they ended up winning. They received a cash prize of ₩300 million (~ USD $260,000), a new car, and the chance to sign a contract with one of the three entertainment agencies involved in the show: SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, or JYP Entertainment. After 2 months of deliberation, they chose YG Entertainment (YG 엔터테인먼트) as their home.
They made their debut in April 2014 with their studio album, "Play". Since then, they have earned numerous accolades and the honorific title of "The Nation's Siblings".
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on September 18, 2017, and was discharged on May 29, 2019. After serving, the duo returned from hiatus and decided to permanently use the abridged version of the name, AKMU.
He made his debut as a solo artist in October 2022 with the studio album "Error".

Editorials - Jun 16, 2019
Pictures are worth a thousand words, and some K-Pop music videos are worth at least a few seasons of TV dramas.
