Hosokawa Toshiyuki
- Name: Hosokawa Toshiyuki
- Native name: 細川俊之
- Also Known as: ほそかわ としゆき
- Nationality: Japanese
- Gender: Male
- Born: December 15, 1940
- Died: January 14, 2011
Born in Fukuoka and raised in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi, he completed his education at Yamaguchi Prefectural Toyora High School and briefly attended Gakushuin University's Faculty of Political Science and Economics, where he was involved in the drama club but did not graduate.
Hosokawa began his education at Nishichi Elementary School and Nishichi Junior High School before transferring to Yamaguchi Prefectural Nishichi High School in 1956. He moved to Toyora High School the following year and graduated in 1959. He enrolled at Gakushuin University in 1959 but left in 1961 to pursue an acting career. After a brief return to Shimonoseki, he moved to Tokyo, where he became a trainee at the Actor's Studio and graduated in 1964. He then joined Bungakuza, making his stage debut in "Harmless Poison," and stayed with the company until 1971 before becoming a freelance actor.
Hosokawa married Ogawa Mayumi in 1967, whom he met during the production of "Cyrano de Bergerac," but they divorced in 1973. They had a daughter. He remarried Sen Chika, a graduate of the Takarazuka Revue, in 1974.
In 1994, he had to withdraw from "La Cage aux Folles" due to severe convulsions and was hospitalized for diabetes in 1995, impacting his role in "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah." He also disclosed a brain hemorrhage on "Tetsuko's Room" in 2009.
From 2004, Hosokawa served as a professor in the Department of Stage Arts at Osaka University of Arts, teaching directing.
On January 12, 2011, Hosokawa fell at home and was taken to a Tokyo hospital unconscious. He died on January 14, 2011, from an acute subdural hematoma at the age of 70.
