Seo Ji Young is a South Korean singer, actress and former member of SHARP (샵; stylized as S#ARP). She graduated from Hanyang University College of Education Affiliated Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Postmodern Musicology from Kyunghee University and a master's degree in Applied Musicology from Dongduk Women's University.

She made her debut in November 1998 as SHARP's rapper and vocalist with their first album, "The S#arp". At the time, the music industry was dominated by male or female groups, so World Music (월드뮤직) decided to gamble by creating a co-ed group. They proved to be somewhat successful, especially with their 1999 single, "Tell Me Tell Me".

However, they also faced several lineup changes right after the promotion period of their debut album ended. But, the biggest controversy began in late 2001 when rumors emerged of a possible conflict between her and Lee Ji Hye. Originally, the group was created by her family (who were part of World Music) and pretended to have her as the main vocalist and center, surrounded by her friends. But, the plans changed when Lee was included as a member based on her talent.

She became jealous and would abuse Lee physically and verbally almost daily and, allegedly, invited actor Ryu Si Won (her boyfriend at the time) to also hit Lee. The climax came in October 2002 during a recording of KBS "Music Bank". She confronted Lee in an elevator and both began fighting. The next day, her mother also attacked Lee and the group announced their disbandment.

Two days later, each held a press conference explaining the situation. She tried to place the blame entirely on Lee, but the group's manager exposed her lies, and the media began to severely criticize her as a result. She was exposed as a jealous bully, and Lee was seen as a victim.

She then made her debut as a solo artist in October 2005 with the album "Listen To My Heart" and briefly ventured into acting. However, she found out that Lee had been hospitalized in late 2006 due to exhaustion. So, in a shameful move, she visited Lee at the hospital and brought white chrysanthemums, a flower traditionally used for the dead. Her reputation fell completely, and she ended her career in 2011 after marrying her non-celebrity boyfriend.

The group settled their differences 11 years later and Lee has publicly forgiven her.
