Xiong Yao Hua, better known by his pen name Gu Long, was a famous Chinese wuxia novelist born in Hong Kong. With Jin Yong, Liang Yu Sheng and Wen Rui An, he's one of the four great scholars of wuxia literature.

In 1952, he moved to Taiwan with his parents and became the sole representative of excellence in the wuxia genre from Taiwan for an entire decade.

In 1985, at the age of 48, Gu Long died of cirrhosis and esophageal hemorrhage.
