Yasumasa Onishi

Onishi Yasumasa

  • Name: Onishi Yasumasa
  • Native name: 大西康雅
  • Also Known as: Ohnishi Yasumasa, Onishi Yasuo, おおにし やすお, 大西 康雄
  • Nationality: Japanese
  • Gender: Male
Although the exact time is unknown, he has been an actor since before the war, became an exclusive actor of Toho from around the 1950s, and has appeared in many movies regardless of the genre since then. He often plays the role of a foreigner because of his deeply carved Japanese features.
In 1971, he continued to be an actor even after the collapse of the exclusive actor system and was active until the end of the 1970s. However, his subsequent whereabouts are unknown.
According to Shigeo Kato, the same Toho exclusive actor, Onishi had a deeper attachment to Toho than anyone else. He was also said to have been an enthusiastic sumo fan, and in the 1954 film directed by Akira Kurosawa, "Seven Samurai," a real sumo wrestler was actually involved in the filming with Onishi's humor.
