It's actually not gonna be that dark or serious (will probably have comedic undertones) but jlfx is a good storyteller and it'll be really fun to watch with lots of emotionally engaging moments if they stay true to the essence of her writing

people calling tingyan dumb but that's actually a pretty smart woman with proper survival instincts specially in comparison to the usual costume drama characters who jump right into the most dangerous situations known to man in the name of bravery and curiosity lmfao

jlfx novels are usually rollercoasters filled with comedy, romance, dramatic climax, tragedy, a very diverse cast of complex side characters and many, MANY subplots. It's just impossible to capture all of that in 2 minutes of a trailer.
Two of my all time favourite fantasy dramas are adapted from her novels and despite both being humorous and lighthearted, they have miles better thematic delivery and emotional depth compared to dozens of "dark" and "serious" dramas I watch and drop every year.

it's not a slapstick so how can they actually show you it has comedic undertones in a 2 minute trailer ??? 🙄 I suggest you pick up books or switch to serious dramas instead of idol dramas if you don't want "light comedy full of clichés".

I personally prefer comedy in idol dramas bc whenever I pick up serious costume dramas that people hype up too much, I end up constantly picking out bad logic and plotholes all over the script and It's very difficult for me to watch sth that takes itself seriously yet can't deliver complex and intense plot points properly.

jiu lu fei xiang is the author of the og novel and she always writes romcoms. Her books actually have many emotionally intense themes but they're still quirky at the end of the day🤷🏻‍♀️

I just stop reading the comments when the show goes on air bc people just hate actresses and female characters for stupid bs left and right and I don't have the time and energy to fight these children

people always say this about actresses who get past the age of 30 and it's ridiculous bc they act like these women are all 2 days away from dy!ng of old age and their grown a$s male costars all look 18 (they don't)

lurking on weibo, I do see many haters unfortunately but I also see so many passerbies and non fans praising it and saying it's a breath of fresh air compared to many othe xianxias out there so I'm happy about that ^_^ (my poor meow meow wyl gets so many nasty comments abt her looks but there's a lot of praise for her natural acting which makes up for qit and there's lots of posistive talk abt cfy's line delivery which is a plus bc so many young actors have really bad diction these days lol )

LTY and SJ are like two people who have gotten really chill and comfortable in an arranged marriage they had 10 years ago but are actually starting to develop real romantic feelings for e/o just now LQOBQII3H

Also I feel like I'm going through a psychosis bc why do ppl keep acting like SY looks 70 years old when that's litterally just a 30 something that looks her age??? Like it's not as if her male costars all look like fresh high-school grads so why is SY always getting these comments??? idk much about the original work this is adapted from but jlfx novels are generally really quirky and there is lots of romance in them so you shouldn't expect what you do from qsk novels in the first place
