The thing that pisses me off so bad is that they bullied her so freaking much even before the tax scandal for no logical reasoning and the tax thing was just an excuse to make the hate justified and now gege fans have their "oooh see I told you she was trash" moment lol I'm kinda getting over it but it just makes me so damn sad that she didn't even have a moment of peace in her short lived period of fame...

and whatever I've came across from xing ling (both adaptations and the og novels themselves lol) has unfortunately been SO boring to me so this one depends completely on the script...my heart does NOT have the capacity to break for the 9181th time you guys this is CRUEL 😭

really freaking HATE when they don't disclose the screeptwiter...its a major red flag when a huge production like this keeps spreading pretty leaks all over the internet yet doesn't talk a word about who will be writing the script and I hate it so much cause they look so damn beautiful individually and together and I'm already getting emotionally manipulated into being invested 😭

and it's over for me when I'm already feeling THINGS with the cp from the damn TRAILER alone this is gonna consume the rest of my life for this year

It's actually quite the wonder that after more than a year every time my thoughts jump back into this show I discover more misogyny in it 😭 like I'm convinced it was the coping mechanism for the scriptwriter who got caught cheating on his wife and does have an impressive amount of wild conservative ideologies on women's "purity" and the evil of their sexuality and shit lol

Ik it's been a long time but I just can't stop being proud of her and happy to see her glowing and showing off her amazing skills and being the baddie she truly is after leaving her ex company 😭

Minimalism does just not culturally fit into the Chinese fashion and clothing industry imo and the minimalist xianxia styling wave that started since 2015 should've never happened🤷🏻‍♀️

ppl seem to question some of the costumes but me personally I LOVE these so much like It's time we move on from boring minimalist costuming in cdramaland !!!!! Everybody is like yeah xianxia costumes don't look like this while cdramas actually used to have this exact extra and sometimes kitschy aesthetic back in the 90s and 2000s lol

Ren Min is litterally so much prettier than all of your geges combined that they had to give her an ulgy wig to make her not stand out from the other cast members favored by the trashy production team you guys can keep CRYING about it

Also I would absolutely not care if the main lead's gender identity would not have much impact on the story. BUT!!!! The thing abt CY's novels is that the mc being a woman is actually extremely important to the story and what it tries to convey. Like the male chars in her books do usually not have THAT much of the plot contributed to them bc they're part of the fl's journey to self discovery, freedom etc . Tat's why the previous adaptations ended up getting hated to hell and back. Like even if the drama turns out to be okay, it's just not gonna hit like the og book...
To sum it up, i dislike this not bc I hate the ml or anything, I just think sometimes it's freaking OKAY to leave these kind of stories as they are so that young girls and women have some piece of media that just hits home😭 we deserve our own stories in which men are just... NOT that important lol

like, there's a load of novels about dudes doing manly dude things out there...why in god's grace doesn't c-ent want to leave the girlies' stories alone specially with cang yue's novels??? I do not even CARE even if this turns out to live up to be decent, (which will likely not happen, since most fem centric novel live actions that change the story like this turn out to be absolute trash in cdramaland) it's just disrespectful and very, very hypothetical when you do this to an author's book who's litterally KNOWN and praised all the time for her female centric narratives. Just NASTY and well...misogynistic lol
The way the entire production crew is just men is one big red flag itself lmao. Happy for li qin and I actually like Joseph but this is just disappointing and annoying and it's her 4th book that's getting done like this
