I wouldn’t say I’m watching for them but I’m not not watching for them. They’re quite a welcome discovery for me. I think they pair exceptionally well and I don’t find Mook annoying. I thought I would but I don’t. Maybe it’s because her acting is decent. If her acting was bad/a bit green, then her character probably would grate on me. I was thinking that I wouldn’t mind a GL series with them as the leads but then again, maybe I like them because they’re given to us in small doses.

Thankfully none of his kids or grandkid consider him family. Unfortunately, they know all too well what he’s capable of.

A fantasy k-drama with Park Eun Bin. That’s unexpected but I’m intrigued.

lol I try to stay away from the arguing myself but one of the reasons I chose MDL over other 'drama trackers' was because I really liked the articles/editorials that were drama focused. As I'm using the site to log series I've already seen and make lists of new ones I want to watch; I really appreciate being introduced to series that are new to me in a compelling and insightful way. Most of the series I add to my watch list are discoveries from editorials and some articles. It's why I think these should stay drama focused, as they can be really really useful in getting a feel for a series. Articles on a drama site about dramas and movies should not be gossip focused imo.

I can totally understand that. I only got to episode 2, so my feeling is more of how negative I think I'm going to feel towards Ming as the story progresses. It's why I put it on hold early but I fully plan to pick it back up again when I'm in a more receptive mindset. I can already tell it's one of the better productions, so despite Ming, I do think it's a solid drama (which is why I want to try watching again in the future).

I'm reading all the comments from the last episode and I can't even argue with them. Every single critique is valid. There is no excusing that scene. I know this in my head but my heart loves this series. I don't know why but I can stomach this lead character (root for him even) but I couldn't feel the same way about My Stand In. I didn't even last two episodes before I put it on hold. Is it that this has more nuance? Is it because the potential for redemption already feels like the groundwork has been set? Is it because this feels like pure fantasy and the other series felt a little too real? I really don't know what it is and I'm surprised myself that I am so utterly captivated by this series, since the first episode to now. I read the novel yesterday and researched some of the other stories from this writer. She seems to LOVE dark characters. Her novels are not tame.

Definitely more toned down than the novel (I was so surprised) lol

Reminds me of that SNL sketch about the wife who didn’t know how to dirty talk. She said some messed up stuff but at least it was comedy.

Unfortunately I wipe it from my memory each week and each week I hear it again and I dry heave.

The mystery is what I NEED to know. The rest can remain like a mindless child just wandering in a visually aesthetic garden.

Real wisdom is knowing why ‘Daddy’ is sexy and ‘Dad’ is absolutely not. 😅

Aside from what’s been said about the stupid take of the reporter in this article; I’ll add that I really don’t like the direction MDL is going with these sensationalised articles. Are you telling me there were no other topics to write about in regards to this drama? Are MDL views down? Are the editors now only interested in writing controversial topics for views and engagement???? This may benefit MDL in the short term but it will turn people away in the long term. If it’s an issue of which articles are being given the green light over others, then Admin seriously needs to have a rethink about which ones it publishes. We all know rage-farming is a toxic tool that ALWAYS gets out of control. It eventually destroys everything with it. Look at the decline of Facebook, Twitter, TMZ etc.

I do agree that the buck stops with the person who writes the story aka whosever creative vision it is but I think anyone should be free to tell any story they wish. The only requirement being that they have to be very skilled at doing so. This involves thinking about what you are trying to say with your story, how you portray it as well as any social responsibilities for sensitive topics. Not all social responsibilities should be their responsibility though, and I don’t think that a character learning how bad something is only by experiencing it themselves is necessarily a bad thing. It mostly depends on HOW this is portrayed. You can make a convincing argument for anything, can make an unpopular portrayal truly sincere if you are skilled enough as a creative or at the very least understanding your audience’s (reasonable) expectations. An example I’ll give is the movie ‘What Women Want.’ Although not the peak of cinema, I think it’s a good example to demonstrate that (say what you want about Hollywood), they used to understand how to sell a story to their audience. They were really really good at selling character redemption and turning around the audience’s views of deplorable characters. They seemed to understand something about the symbiotic relationship between audience and creator.

Frfr I get having intense feelings about a character but keep it on the character not the actor. Knowing the difference is so important. Not just for the actor but for ourselves as viewers. We need a separation of state type deal for dramas and movies as this is getting ridiculous. Those disclaimers that we’re seeing increasingly at the start of dramas is making more and more sense now. Kinda like idiot-proof warning labels on things in the west. E.g. “Do not eat this soap because this is soap not food and is not fit for consumption” 🤦🏽‍♀️

Auto being a red herring is something I suspected last week so was not surprised. I said he was acting too obvious and that it would turn out to be for another reason and it was.

This is convincing me more and more that Kleua is the (main) spy. His manipulative behaviour today was so shady. It’s left me wondering if he actually likes Plawan or he’s just getting close because he knows he’s the other spy. Therefore, everything he’s been doing is to keep him in the competition so that they are the last ones standing — ensuring that the ‘winner’ will definitely be one of Metha’s spies.

Because I really believe he is the spy and he seems to harbour some ill feelings towards chef that seems to predate chef’s treatment of Plawan; I just know his betrayal is gonna sting once it’s discovered by chef.

Thankfully for Plawan’s case, it looks like Methas is gonna become a good character so hopefully the consequences to chef won’t be that bad if this progresses without Plawan coming clean to chef.

I don’t need to comment on the spicy stuff since everyone has that covered. 😅
