I am not a drinker, so I may not understand, but why in these business gatherings people force others to drink…
Alcohol reduces people’s inhibitions. This promotes social bonding so it’s used a lot with businesses to ‘seal the deal’ and ‘celebrate their partnership’. It’s also seen as an insult to refuse a drink (especially one poured for you). With friendship/non work gatherings I would say Karaoke is the equivalent. As with everything, people take advantage. I would say the men forcing the women are trying to get them drunk to take advantage of them. Some companies use female staff to serve as eye candy to woo clients. Perhaps these men blur the lines between these company drinks and hostess bars.

So, I watched episode 26. YC has proposed marriage to JX's bestie? Wow, that was a "got over you quick" recovery.…
This is such a funny recap, especially “Girl, bye”. Thanks for the laughs.

I’m not as far along in the episodes as you are but I suspected that HT gave the impression that JX’s company was his plan A but in reality we know he has his hand in other hidden pies. I gather he thinks the best way to beat his cousin is for her focus to be on the ‘decoy’. This is not to say that he is toying with JX’s company. He is serious about her company also, it’s just that he had a plan in motion prior to her getting the idea to start her own company. Essentially, he’s already won the game without his cousin realising as she’s trying to foil plans that are his plan B/backup any way. I may be wrong though. 😅

I see someone has answered you below. On another note, some of the commenters have been saying there’s not been much bts, promo or ongoing info released about the series which is a shame since most viewers like these kinds of things and they help with the visibility of the series.

I think I’m one of the very few here that do not see her as this bad person. I mean, what did she do wrong exactly?…
Oh for sure. My comment was more commenting on how different perspectives cause us to focus on/be ok with/not ok with some things and not others. I find the different ways people form a viewpoint fascinating/interesting so I’m always interested in having a discourse with people with varying viewpoints. I try to look and understand where people are coming from (again because this interests me). I’m not one to shut down a conversation unless it’s getting unproductive.

I also don’t have a problem with viewers with a different perspective to me. For example, I don’t get as irked by ZD. I guess it’s because the framing of the character is not trying to sell us anything apart from who she is being onscreen.

I smell a daughter or son.
The way you phrased this made me chuckle. 😂

Love how you can actually go to a foreign country with your own personal tour guide lol! That meet on the airplane…
It’s funny to see how the trend has gone from America to France to Germany in terms of which countries East Asia has strategic alliances with. It’s the in thing now to study in Germany and speak German. I remember when French and French schools/culture was the craze. Man, strategic PR is no joke 😅

*Disclaimer: Of course East Asian countries are not the only countries who do this but they are one of the few who do it so thoroughly and in all facets of life. It even seeps into their dramas.

I don’t think she’s a bad person but if I had a friend who was coveting my then boyfriend and secretly hoping to have him for herself (which would mean the end of my relationship), nevermind the dubious ‘advice’ she gave my then boyfriend about our relationship; I wouldn’t trust that person as I’d know she doesn’t have my best interest at heart. I’d wish her well but I wouldn’t want her in my life or close to me.

As a viewer, I don’t care that they get together. I just don’t want airtime to be spent on them as I don’t care for them or whatever narrative the writers are trying to spin in regards to them. Far better for anything relating to them to happen off screen imo.

Tend to get draggy if too many couples are given screentime. 2 couples screentime is good. Nothing more. exbf…
Thanks so much for sharing your take. 🙂

I still see him as a minor character but you do have a point. Are you an Asian viewer by chance?

Agree with both points. 2 couples max and exes can disappear after breakup if they are not a main character. Also don’t need a happy ending or redemption for every character.

Is the count down wrong, the next ep shouĺd be ep 23 and not ep 29.
On the MDL airing calendar for some reason they have episodes 22-29 all airing today. Best not to go by the MDL calendar.

I’ve been enjoying it quite a lot. The thing with dramas is sometimes it’s more about your mood. So if you…
I second this bit of advice. I have to be in the frame of mind to receive a drama. It’s why I will give a drama at least one more watch (at a later date) unless it’s objectively terrible. 😅

In regards to the pairing up of the ex-boyfriend and the FL’s best friend, I know international fans tend to not want to see much of these types of characters in the progression of these stories. The writers can do what they want with them, so long as they do it off screen lol.

What about Asian viewers? How do you feel about airtime being given to characters such as this with them being treated as a third couple? How do you feel about writers always wanting to give everyone a happy ending and painting over conflicts and questionable character actions with a neat little brush?

I’m waiting until tomorrow so I can watch three episodes in one go.
I'm on episode 12 and I'm pacing myself between work days so I'm not at a point where I'm waiting for new episodes. If I've timed it right, I should arrive at episode 39 the day episode 40 premiers.

Title As Beautiful as You Spoiler
Exactly. And everyone is goona take her side . And no one is goona question her how could she do this. There is…
I noticed in the ending credits sequence from episode 12 onwards that they get married and everyone is at the wedding including FL. It seems FL will be cool with it. I also agree with girl code but I've made my peace with it not being something present in Asian culture or at least it's not something that is observed in their dramas. It seems everyone is fair game unless they are married and if the partner cheats, the wronged party is expected to swiftly get over it in order to not impede on the cheater's new relationship with the person they cheated with.
