All the points you’ve made are reasonable. That SHOULD be how their relationship is but it just isn’t. Never has been. Uncle has always been heavy handed with Jian. He’s never tried to shield her from the harsh things in life. Instead he uses them as a way to teach her how to survive and get through it. I’m not saying it’s right. I’m saying his behaviour is consistent. He’s never been the softy-softy type and he’s never treated her with kid gloves. He has always left her in dangerous situations to fend for herself until such a time that he is able to come get her or send someone else to help her. None of this is new or out of character.

If it was any other drama I would agree with you but this is precisely what he’s been doing since she was a child. The only difference here is that he didn’t set-up these men to attack Jian but even in his past ‘training’ the threats were real (albeit controlled). For the kind of life they are forced to live, unfortunately she needs to be thrown into the deep end to learn how to survive. She’s learning on the job. Jin-Man makes every moment a teachable moment. He did give her an out but I don’t know how effective that would have been. Realistically, anyone good at their job would be able to find her new identity.

He is gifted in computer engineering but he overly estimates himself as a spy/assassin. And because I’m sure he’s on the spectrum of psychopathy; he has an inflated ego also which makes him believe he’s the smartest person in the room.

I don’t think he thinks they would’ve left Jian alone, that’s why I theorise that he’s not really dead. He has a plan to get rid of Bale and his ‘death’ is part of it.

Servicemen tend to have a high level of loyalty so I can totally see it taking a lot for Jin-Man to part ways with his team and leaving that life for good.

Unfortunately for the kinds of missions they took part in, you do need people like Bale and the rest of his team. In that you need people who are fearless, have a death wish and are borderline psychos. Jin-Man fits these traits too but he is more disciplined. He does not cross the line but Bale and the others do. You won’t get ‘normal’ people on these types of missions. They’re not built for them and ‘normal’ is of no use to government agencies when it comes to black opps.

If I had to put money on it, I’d say he’s not dead now that I’ve seen episode 5&6.

I was saying last week that there was no way uncle wouldn’t see through Jung-Min and seeing it all play out this week just confirmed that. Jung-Min thought he fooled uncle but uncle fooled him. The elevated angular camera shots in the house with the two of them reminded me of a game of cat and mouse. What sealed the deal for me was that uncle took his ‘death’ into his own hands and no one saw him kill himself. Not even the cameras captured it. I figured the su*cide was staged from episode one but I wasn’t certain until now.

This week’s episodes confirm it. The uncle is not dead. There is no way he wouldn’t have pegged Jung-Min from the start. The whole of episode 5 was him toying with him. He knew the recording of his niece was fake and that’s why he listened to it multiple times. The fact that his cause of death was ‘su*cide’ and the cctv cuts out is another clue. This is the only way he could control how he ‘died’. He had to do it himself. Yup, Unc is alive.

This is what happens when people think the main plot is the romance, when in actuality the main plot is the game and how the missions relate to making Yeo-Woon happy. The romance is just one aspect of it. But I think the game is also as much to do with Myung-Ha as it is to do with Yeo-Woon. It can’t be a coincidence that the game world is his old neighbourhood and that the things he’s had to deal with in real life are intertwining themselves into the game. Why do I feel like the game creator/the senior from the first episode is Yeo-Woo or Sang-Won. Others have said it’s not possible as they don’t look alike but I can’t shake the feeling that the game is autobiographical.

Jimmy and Sea really proved their acting chops in this one. This was my first series watching them and I was really impressed. So much so I went back to watch their other series Vice Versa and realised Last Twilight was their opportunity to prove what they can do. They did a really good job. Their acting was the highlight of the series. Mark as Night was such a great character. In the end I loved his character the most.

Although episodes 1-10 are a solid 8.5 for me

I kinda feel the same as you, although I am happy they ended up together and never wanted a version where they don’t end up together (although I could accept that if handled right). However, I’m quite surprised at how much this final episode annoyed me. I think it was probably a delayed reaction from the events of last episode but mostly I think it’s because they set the bar so high for the majority of the series and it felt like a bit of a slap in the face to revert back to typical bl tropes when they’ve proved for the previous 10 episodes that they could and did do better than that.

Having them break up in that way (I would have had no issues with them breaking up if it was done right), which only served the plot and nothing else was so jarring. It took me out of the series for the first time. I liken it to those high school relationships when we were creating drama in our relationships for drama sake, so that our relationships seemed dramatic and ‘epic’. This was very childish of us and so was this trope being used in episode 11. It let the previous quality of writing down.

I also think I had a delayed reaction because I genuinely thought they would bring that quality of writing back in the final episode but from the start of the episode to the end, it just annoyed me. In typical bl tropey fashion, they pretend that the very serious implications of what happened doesn’t need to be given an adequate response from the characters. Just continue as if all is well and since the plan is for them to reunite and get back together, let’s not let something as important as dealing with the effects of that get in the way of the happy ending they are marching towards. 🙄

Still, I know I’ll be more receptive to the finale once I watch it again a little later on when my annoyance subsides. I’ll wait untill then before rating the series. It’s still a great series overall and is absolutely one of the better ones. Just throwing my two cents in because the people in the comments talking about P’Aof just because people are expecting better from him (like he’s shown he’s capable of for the majority of the series). My question to you guys is this: How do we get better bls if we don’t voice our opinions/feedback? Granted no one of importance is going to see them in the MDL comments section but the comments are valid.
