Yeah it's very difficult if someone is not an idol. That's why I'm so proud of Park Eun Bin success. She didn't get lead roles fast but look where she's now? I hope the same for Seyoung.

I feel the same about her not receiving love, plus the King the Love female lead fans bashing her (I saw some on twitter). I hope she gets the same success as Park Eun Bin (I really love all the former child actors of Kdrama they are all excellent).

There is more focus on romance here compared to Yi San. Plus the queen (Yisan's wife) doesn't appear here even if she's mentioned a lot. In Yisan, we can see Yisan's Queen friendship with our main girl Deok Im/Seong Yeon (name of female lead in Yisan).

But people who had watched this find the love triangle really raw and compelling. One couple in the love triangle might be icky to some people but you’ll understand the attraction once you watch this drama. Female lead is the female lead of Empress Ki.

Yes, Princess Man was really amazing one of my top fave dramas. The lead actress there is one of my most favorite actresses Moon Chae Won, she recently did Flower of Evil. You might want to try Flower of Evil, it’s not a sageuk but I find the romance as good as The Princess’s Man. Maybe you can try Moon Lovers (I like it because of the male lead but didn’t love it much because it’s approach seems to be very kpoppish due to the idol actors hired whose acting I didn’t like, but maybe you’ll love it). Many people love this drama and can’t forget the romance in this to the point they demand season 2 so maybe you can try it (male lead was also in Iljimae and Flower of Evil).

King taking Deok Im as concubine, Deok Im being a court lady prior to being a concubine, Deok Im and all her children with the King dying before King, King’s grandpa’s dementia and his father that died before his father was king, King’s concubines prior to Deok Im, Hong Deok Ro being a trusted friend before his betrayal, are all historical facts. I believe they also found a book that Deok Im wrote that contains some names that this drama creators use as the names of Deok Im’s friends. However the court lady drama and scheming are what I believe to be fictional. Of course the drama also added some layers to King and Deok Im love story that are not present in historical records (ex: precise details of their courtship). What we know though is the King favors Deok Im as a concubine because he wrote his honest feelings for her on her epitaph upon her death.
Thery extended another episode when it was airing. I don’t think the extension was due to changing the ending though. I believe they added some scenes in some middle episodes.
Lee Se Young performance in this is so amazing. Junho is good too but I feel Seyoung needs more appreciation for her acting here. Such a great actress.
Moon Chae Won is always an amazing actress even prior to this drama. However her best performances prior to this drama are the ones before 2013 (Painter of the Wind, Princess Man, War of the Arrows, Innocent Man), I wish people would judge her other performances based on these acclaimed works of hers. I do agree this is her best work in recent years (was bummer baeksang didn’t nominate her), not that her acting has declined but she wasn’t able to have roles that shows her acting skills as much as her older works. I hope she gets good scripts for dramas or movies in the future.
