Lee Tae Ri in a lead role at last? Not as supporting character or fourth lead or second lead, but the lead male character?! Count me in! He's been underrated for many years and I can't wait to see his breakthrough as a lead actor after more than 25 years in the entertainment industry.
Since this was based on real people, their ending in real life was being portrayed in that last episode.
Yisan is based on King Jeongjo and Deokim is based on Royal Concubine Uibin Seong (both real people). If you searched them, you'll find out that the concubine really died after all her children died and th king had to get another concubine to have an heir after her death.
I did like Moon Lovers but I’m not a big fan of it unlike this one
Innocent Man has more amnesia happening in its story than this one (we first encounter amnesia in the middle of the drama and amnesia happened to two people at different points in the drama not just one person). Plus some people did find it confusing when the amnesia of one character ended or if the other character who got amnesia actually had it or he's just pretending. I'll still recommend you to watch it (That being said, I'm a big fan of both leads in that drama just like this drama, female lead in both here and Innocent Man is the same actress), but its up to you. One thing I can say though is both this drama and Innocent Man have great performances by their lead actors. PS: I do always recommend The Princess' Man first for people wanting to see Flower of Evil female lead in other works. This is another kdrama of hers (albeit historical) where she is super protective of the male lead (and there's no amnesia in this show).
Korean law on drugs are so weird. Based on what I know, he only took drugs but never influenced others in taking it. I think he didn’t deserve jail time, but only a rehab then hopefully come back after the rehab.
Only watched this for my Painter of the Wind babies Bae Soo Bin and Moon Chae Won. It’s so hard to watch a show where you have to root against them just for the leads to be happy. Female lead especially should have ended with the second male lead.
I loved Chae ok and Jung Sung Baek's romance but them being sibling ruined it. If they were attached as siblings…
It’s part of the reason why they’re so compelling, it’s the fact that the romance is forbidden (no matter what identity Chae Ok takes — as a police she’s the enemy to his rebel, as a sister their blood ties just mean they can’t be together). I ship her more with the captain though. But these compelling love triangle is what makes this drama so beautiful. New dramas can’t relate.
One of the biggest actresses in korea! Secret Garden and Empress Ki are iconic
Watch her in Hwang Ji Ni and her much older drama Damo (2003) too. Both were really loved by Koreans when first released. Hwang Ji Ni is in youtube with completr episodes. Her dances in this drama are so beautiful.
A classic suspenseful historical kdrama between the royal household and a conniving, evil man who wants to be…
Suyang is a real person. His name is King Sejo. Most of the stuff about this drama is real. However the main lovers existence are debated by historians. Here are some videos that try to explain the historical context which this drama is based on (both are in Korean but I think you'll find a few english comments on some of the videos that try to explain what is in the videos): 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue_lxcEWioU => this video is about the debatable records in history of the existence of the main couple in this show. This has no subtitles but if you scroll the comments, you might see an english comment that explains what the video is about. 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwnD1nd9iN0 => this video depicts the more accurate love story of the two leads based on the only historical record (debated by Koreans if true or not) called Geumgye Pildam. This drama was able to add on details/characteristics on the characters to make the the show more entertaining while mostly staying true to the history + original source Geumgye Pildam (금계필담) which was why I think this drama is really well made. I wish there is a separate list for idol vs non-idol actresses. It's really unfair for non-idol actresses because their idol counterparts will have more fans to vote for them
i think when she found out her tutor is supposed to be her betrothed, she started to get jealous of her cousin's growing closeness and relationship to her future husband.
The fact that jiwon wouldn’t accept him unless she made sure he is not guilty annoys me.. if you sincerely love…
she did accept him. if she didn't, she would have immediately tell her coworkers that her husband is Do Hyun Soo. finding a balance between her duty as a wife to protect him and her duty as a detective to know the truth, she did her own investigation regarding her husband's case before the others knew about him. she loves him so much, she even kneeled down to beg her coworker to consider her husband's case and give him a chance (in episode 11). but as a detective herself, she also have to be fair and rely on evidence. it's one of the central conflicts of her character, the battle of her choices between her as a wife vs her as a detective.
He's a green flag in CLOY for sure, but I really did enjoy his acting more here than that drama, though I did see his chemistry with Son Ye Jin. FYI: Hyun Bin won a daesang for this drama at Baeksang awards.
I just finished Six Flying Dragons and it was so amazing that I can't find any drama to fill the void. I tried…
For me this is really good. I remember this one having less martial arts scenes than Six Flying Dragons, so I think you might be a bit disappointed if that's the reason you enjoyed Six Flying Dragons. Deep Rooted Tree is really good for me too. I have to confess though that episodes 8-12 are what I found a bit boring in Tree though Song Joong Ki and Han Suk Kyu's face-off in one of those episodes is one of the highlights in those episodes (and one reason why both became two of my most favorite Korean actors).
it’s a movie and not a drama, it premieres in Cannes today
it's still showing at Cannes. Usually movies premiering at Cannes had to finish showing there before they can determine when to release the movies. This is also an indie movie so I'm not sure if they'll release it at the same time worldwide, but hoping it gets great reviews at Cannes and thus be released as soon as possible anywhere.
PS: I do always recommend The Princess' Man first for people wanting to see Flower of Evil female lead in other works. This is another kdrama of hers (albeit historical) where she is super protective of the male lead (and there's no amnesia in this show).
PS: If you have nothing good to say just leave. I’m just so allergic to people judging Joong Ki and especially his wife and family.
PS: It’s a pity people misinterpret his interview. Why is it so hard to be his fan?
