well pheem does say “the engine hasn’t started” and also “got anything to help with it” so idk if we…
lol - I know right.
I think the producers must think if we are watching their bl shows we must have low IQs and be stupid - and judging by some of the comments here I think they are correct.
Can you tell me which timestamp you’re referring to? I thought he was drugged, so he wasn’t himself.
I get its a bl and we overlook a lot - like gorgeous 27 year olds being CEOs of major corporations, the fever main leads get after being exposed to a few raindrops, ....., but we really need to draw that line somewhere.
If you are doing a show about drugs then the least you can do as a producer/screenwriter is have some very basic knowledge about your subject matter. lol as bl fans, do we also have to overlook that now?
well pheem does say “the engine hasn’t started” and also “got anything to help with it” so idk if we…
I didnt see the drug used but if its fentanyl then agree 100% with you here. Its sloppy screenwriting not to understand the subject matter of the show - the very basics of the drugs
Yes. It's another adaptation of Addicted. Read the summary.
If you dont like toxic then I would advise that you do NOT read (I cant only talk about) the first book. The relationship between the two characters is built on toxicity and violence. Its not a sweet fluffy romance.
For me its fiction/ fantasy, and people can make choices about what they want to see or experience. Then my attitude is live and let live and as long as its properly tagged and people can make informed choices, then live and let live.
Im looking forward to watching Revenged love but wating till im in the mood. Currently im not enjoying bls as much so Im pausing the ones i consider good eg Reset, Revenged Love, so I can properly enjoy them.
Yes. It's another adaptation of Addicted. Read the summary.
I haven't watched Revenged Love yet. Its on my list. I will also read the book. Its hard to get away from discussions about this show. Even on reddit, the posts never stop. lol I can imagine it would be a toxic relationship but it works for the two red flags. I look forward to reading your comments about the couple and discussing and debating with you.
In real life im very judgmental and critical about bad behaviour (both mine and others). In fiction, i see it as creative licence . I had arguments on Shine board, because somebody defended toxic behaviour both in drama and in real life. I think they excused the behaviour of a gay man marrying a woman without telling her that he is gay and then defended the cheating - because of those dangerous times. I can separate the fiction, but am so critical when toxic behaviour is excused in real life.
I guard my mental health. I avoid dramas with violence. I also currently avoid watching the news as its too depressing to watch animals and people suffer, genocide, etc. But in fiction, im okay when it comes to toxic relationships between couples. Sometimes it takes me months to get through a show with toxic behaviour as I need a break. I think because my life is so vanilla and so boring by my own design (im a financial/data analyst), I dont mind watching or reading about fictional toxic relationships. Toxic characters are more interesting to watch and analyse and debate.
ABOUT ADDICTED There are two books for Addicted. I have read over half of the first one. While its toxic, it is actually quite good, very engaging and very funny. (apart from those scenes and they are difficult to read). I think if you read it, you will enjoy it. In the fist book, they end up breaking up and going their separate ways. In the second book they they meet up about a decade later as adults and established in their careers. That is all i know. You can find the books on wattpad in English. Let me know if you have a problem finding it. If you decide to read the book, I would also be curious about your opinion on the book and then the shows.
Yes. It's another adaptation of Addicted. Read the summary.
Thanks your detailed response. I havent gotten far with this version but i will pause it and give it some more months before continuing. I want to appreciate and enjoy this version on its own merit instead of seeing it as a duplicate.
lol- no you are absolutely correct about the addicted actors looking like grown men. Initially I didnt find them attractive and their age put me off - but then I got used to it and their charisma of grew on me a lot. The actors in this recent version are what I would consider more attractive (more to my taste).
I dont know if you read the novels? I was reading the novel at the same time as i was watching Addicted. And then Addicted ended midway and I haven't finished the novel yet. That is another reason why I become even more obsessed and favour Addicted. But the novel was so toxic - there was kidnapping and rape and violence. Gu Hai raped Bai Luo Yin and made sure his ex girlfriend saw it. It was violent enough to put him in hospital. They toned down Addicted so much.
But still pissed off they didnt finish this one either.
Yes. It's another adaptation of Addicted. Read the summary.
lol - its kind of funny that both attempts failed to give us an ending. You would think that in the second one they could have focused on accomplishing that.
This version has a higher score than Addicted so its the preferred one by the majority. If I hadnt seen Addicted I may have liked this one better - its more stylish I think. (PS I havent finished this one yet)
I hypothesise the one we watch first greatly influences which one we like more. Addicted imprinted on me -I liked the rawness and gritty atmosphere it created.
Out of curiosity, which one did you watch first? I assume you have watched Addicted but prefer this version so I am curious what is it about this version that you prefer?
Yes. It's another adaptation of Addicted. Read the summary.
Its not a failure. Im not criticising the actors or the production quality. Its a good series but its just an imitation, a toned down copy or the real thing. And that is my problem with it. It had already been done very well.
Do people like yourself fear creativity? Would you now like to see a remake of "Stay with me" with different actors?
My point is that you can take the essence of the story and the characters and build something new. Instead of an inferior copy that is a substitute for the real thing. Like you said about part 2 - this series could have maybe focused more on the ending of the story (which was not completed in Addicted either). Spend just a few episodes covering Addicted story,, and continuing with the remainder. That would have impressed me and that would have been worth watching.
Some sensitive people will be easily getting triggered by dark jokes. I can understand it's not everyone's cup…
Im laughing because reading your post reminded me of these scenes again, There are some episodes that are worth rewatching. Those jokes werent even bad - it was just funny seeing his antics in the support group and getting participants to sympathise with him. He wasnt even insulting anyone. But viewers focus on that, but they are not sensitive about the contract killing.
Most bl actors are good looking (their talent is their face card) and are not real actors (its not their trade ) - why does he get picked on. The more i hear about Dunk (the person) the more I like him. Seriously I wish I understood why people dislike him when he is a nice person (from what i have heard), good looking and can act. So I dont understand why people that dislike him for no reason.
Yes. It's another adaptation of Addicted. Read the summary.
i know all that. The thing is that addiction has been done. So they should have taken the story and changed it to make it somewhat more original - add twists, change the story, be creative..... but not do the same thing toned down.
Copying something that is already great like Addicted - well you are setting yourself up for failure. Because you are begging to be compared to the original masterpiece.
I like the actors here, i like the way its been filmed, i like everything about it but in the end its simply an ersatz production.
he actually my fave from To sir with love Thai drama😂😂 and yesss he so freaking HOT🔥🔥
Thanks - I dont know the actor but I will watch that show. His photo does not do him justice. Similar to Mark Jiruntanin - I don't recognise them by their MDL photos.
Scenes were repeated over the three episodes. The story is not that well developed. I dont understand what is happening really. The actors are attractive and series has potential if a story existed.
The nc scenes felt clinical almost. Dont get me wrong I like spice and nc scenes but for me there was not enough character development and chemistry and plot.
I dont think it satisfies either viewers like myself who wants spice, or those who want something very explicit/porn.
Don't think I agree with the one before last sentence, because japanese do that as well... "My Beautiful Man"…
Thank you for EXPLAINING how conservative they are, but Im not sure what your point it. On one hand you are saying they do produce nc scenes and provides an example and then on the other you are talking about conservative values. Despite being conservative countries there are some very spicy bls from Japan and Thailand - even Korea. So that is not a valid excuse. Conservative Japan produced DDOS and The novelist/pornographer
I also gave examples where they can do BLS that are spicy and quality and ESCAPISM. My stubborn , LITA, The novelist, My Personal weatherman. KinnPorsche. I also enjoyed To my star and Love in big city which were Korean. Raw and realistic does not mean porn or sex. Eternal Summer hits the spot. Note that MDL labels bls as LGBT not queer or bl.
im just bored of getting "MacDonalds" quality of bls that are all fluff and no substance with fish kisses and tropes (im not the only westerner complaining about this).
Don't think I agree with the one before last sentence, because japanese do that as well... "My Beautiful Man"…
Are you referring to this 6min clip: https://mydramalist.com/32041-one-summer-night. I haven't seen it but im sure koreans are capable of producing nc scenes and porn. Im talking more about the Kbls.
They tend to play it so so safe - kindoff like GMMtv bls and there is usually a very lower spice level. Some Japanese offerings are also like that. They focus on awkwardness and self dialogue and miscommunications.
Im talking more about My stubborn , LITA, The novelist, My Personal weatherman level. I really enjoyed this show and wish there was more plot development and they turned it into a 12 episode series. There arent that many stories that are raw, with realism and original - most bls tend to focus on fluff and tried and tested tropes /formulas.
Does it really matter how they watched it? A show can be racially offensive even it its not meant for that audience.…
They can only resort to name calling because they are unable to argue on merit. Im using their tactics. They are surprisingly sensitive and defensive when called MAGA.
Capitalism/communism are mere labels to me and they both take away peoples power and resources using different arguments/means. In the UK we are losing so much of our freedoms ( to protest, internet monitored) and the wealth is so concentrated anyway. West is also becoming authoritarian as well. Does it matter to me if all the resources are controlled by a few billionaire (capitalism) or by the state (still a few billionaires in the state). Its all the same.
I like to point out peoples hypocrisy wrapped in self righteousness and moral superiority. Im from the west im very well aware of ours. Im glad i was born in the west but its sad that so many people are so easily manipulated and fall in line.
@Ryen_Lux is also the biggest hypocrite - resorts to name calling while telling others not to name call.
Facts and empathy for other cultures dont matter to them. Its best to annoy them with their logic and be entertained.

Its use and damage done is widely discussed in a lot of news articles.
You would have had to be courting ignorance to not know abt fentanyl

Im aware that Koreans are more "open minded" when it comes to movies but are extremely conservative with it comes to tv shows.
