"but they have no information to confirm that the audience prefers slapstick comedy to a more serious series"I…
lol - this describes most bl shows and most bl actors frankly.
Shitty scripts can translate into successful shows which please the majority - irrespective of your opinion or mine. In bl world, face card trumps acting skills and with Dunks face card i dont care if he can act.
GMM is successful - I never argued that it delivers quality. My arguments stand solid. So what is you point?
I disagree. ppl complained about The Next Prince and Fourever You.
To be honest they are both so good looking that they dont need to act.
In all seriousness I think they are both competent - I have found others who are praising Perms acting for this role. So its just opinions. But my point - with face cards like that Im not looking at the acting.
GMMTv thinks that if they make a dark and serious BL series like Nolan's Batman, it will scare the audience away,…
"but they have no information to confirm that the audience prefers slapstick comedy to a more serious series" I dont like GMM but Im also not going to be the idiot to announce that they dont know the bl market. Its ridiculous of you to assume that GMM does not do market research. Its probably the most successful thai bl companies with a list of actors and successful series to its name. They must be doing something right.
"the audience prefers slapstick comedy to a more serious series. Ossans Love and Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist were failures" Some series do well and others dont. You cant make such a statement indicating the success or failure is due to comedy by PICKING and naming a few SELECTIVE shows. The Heart Killers (THK) was comedy and it was successful.
"About slapstick humour" Can you define what you mean by slapstick humour because so far it has contained comedic elements - like THK this has comedy. Or are you using the word dishonestly to disparage the show after viewing one episode.
this series didnt beat my expectations at all, gmm needs to do better.
Cool - its your prerogative to dislike it and to watch something better. Dont waste your precious little time. Show sucks for some, its great for others meeting their expectations
I mean what do you want people to say to you or do about it? Rather have this chat with GMM
I dont find the age gap an issue as much as i did have an issue with her "acting " the part immaturely.…
I dont think the age thing is such an issue - Goblin was about 30 years old when he died. So what if he is a couple of centuries old.
The issue was that her acting childish - it greatly contrasted her youth and immaturity by comparing it to his maturity and age. And that made a relationship more obvious and unpalatable. ( Also the actor looks a lot older than 30. if I remember correctly - he has a very mature look).
A lot of people focused more on the grim reapers relationship with both goblin and sunny because i dont think they bought the relationship with Ji Eun Tak & goblin.
Yes, her reasoning and intellect was mature, and they should have used that in her behaviour as well. It would have demanded more acting chops from the actress - her performance would have to be more nuanced, Instead they wanted to draw it in coloured crayon for the audience. You dont need childishness to show "ray of sunshine".
I think the directors made the wrong call in this decision to make her immature. She did "immature" to well and it put a lot of people off by focusing on her childishness and age, instead of her character.
if you find the age Gap uncomfortable, that's totally fine. however, why is it that no one ever mentions the age…
I dont find the age gap an issue as much as i did have an issue with her "acting " the part immaturely. I dont know why the director chose that for the character.
I get that she was young, but dont make her childlike in her behaviour and mannerisms. I found that distasteful and annoying. I would have expected her character to be played with more maturity for her age - due to her life experiences. It would have made more sense.
luckily this is quality so far. Or did you just create this account today just to b^tch about this series?
Thanks. I loved Addicted and still haven't gotten over that. (now busy reading the novel ).
I do love Chinese bls ( and shows ) and the writers are particularly good and twisted (which i like) in a diff way. I wish they had more freedom because they are so talented.
In real life most abusers get away with it and do considerable damage to their victims. A lot gaslight victims…
I am sorry for your experience.
I do think that anything that sparks debate, uncovers the issue and makes people aware is a good thing.
Ideally I would like a balance between story telling freedom and responsiblity to educate and inform. I think both can be done.
I believe that producers of the drama have a responsibility / duty to educate & inform audience about issues that can trigger, what is unacceptable behaviour (some dont know), what to do in such a situation, available help lines etc. (They can do this by inserting a minute of material before introduction without interfering in the plot). BUT I also want the writer to be free to write a story without moralising . I as a viewer can exercise my freedom to decide not to watch.
I do think that we the public can push the industry to inform and educate the public at the very least especially if they are making money from such an issue. And knowledge could prevent or help break a cycle.
I regret watching this because now I have to wait each week, instead of being able to binge. I was so sceptical after watching the trailer as I had wanted something darker . So far I am loving this. its interesting, cute, and funny in a good way. Boun has wonderful comedic timing. I never thought I would see such a cute golden retriever puppy type vampire. He aces this role.
The chemistry is great between the leads - and both are so ridiculously good looking. Also Mark Jiruntanin is so stunning - his profile photo does not do him justice here
Thanks for the review. I was so hesitant to watch this (based on trailer) but thoroughly enjoyed it. I wanted dark but actually loved the comedy side of it as well. I am pleasantly surprised.

Usually Koreans have more youthful features at least to me.
The issue was that her acting childish - it greatly contrasted her youth and immaturity by comparing it to his maturity and age. And that made a relationship more obvious and unpalatable. ( Also the actor looks a lot older than 30. if I remember correctly - he has a very mature look).

That is my assessment at least
Im sure I will love everything you hate.

Or to be laughing that much. I think they got the balance right.
I didnt think a vampire could be that funny - but Boun pull it off. He is so good at comedy.
Dont get me wrong, i love critical discussion but this person is just like an unintelligent annoying fly of no value.
I cant wait til I get to watch ABO (saving it). Looking forward to that and Revenged Love

I had to go and look up who played Methas.
