I think he didn’t kill the father. he’s probably keeping him somewhere. I think the ml just wants the Yu family…
That’s my theory as well, and last night I listed all my reasons why. But who knows- if Zhao Ling really did kill him, it’s totally fine with me. I trust the writers to tell a good story and they have DELIVERED so consistently thus far.
Sure you can message me :) I think I know some of it, though, like they have a kid and live in Ganlin. I just hope that the ending is not crammed into the last five minutes of the drama 😅
honest opinion first half POJ but overall full drama TRTS.
It was so disappointing. I am pretty sure that the writers even changed the novel to give the FL fight scenes that the ML had in the novel. And then the whole finale was basically nothing but flashbacks and then the stupid 20 minutes of that “alternate reality”? So dumb. All of those minutes of screen time could have been used for the ML and the main romance. So much wasted potential. I’m still salty about it because the first half was amazing.
"The Road to Splendor is way too good compared to Pursuit of Jade”Someone said this on a post and most people…
Road to Splendor!!! Omg it’s so much better! PoJ would have been on par with this one if they didn’t screw it up the last half, sideline the ML, butcher character development and waste too much precious screen time on silly secondary characters and toxic relationships instead of the ML and the main romance. PoJ was also VERY heavy on pushing the GirlBoss agenda at the expense of the ML, which was incredibly unfortunate. The Road to Splendor is much more balanced imo. Both leads are awesome, capable, and there’s equal partnership.
So I’m assuming that the schedule on WeTV will continue to be one episode per day until the end of the drama for people who do not purchase the express package? (I am not interested in illegal websites)

I’m not at all worked up over the killing 😁If he really did, I’m totally cool with seeing where the writers go with it. It wouldn’t bother me at all if it were true 🙂
I am not convinced that Zhao Ling actually killed her dad, but rather he knocked him out and kidnapped him and is planning to use him against the Yus.
* Burning the hut down only makes sense to fake a death - if Zhao Ling really did kill him, why not make it look like a suicide? * We didn’t actually see him die, nor did we see a body burning in the flames. But I can totally see Zhao Ling scaring the crap out of him and making him believe he was going to die without actually killing him. * Idk if any of you also caught this, but Zhao Ling never actually admitted pointblank to Tingyun that he did it. He went along with her assumptions, said that her dad committed “grave sins” etc., but he never actually said the words that he killed her dad. He was also very oddly detached that whole scene? There was that one brief moment at the table, though, when he looked sad or like he regretted something (i.e. letting her believe that her husband killed her dad). * If Zhao Ling really did kill him he would so OBVIOUSLY have played into Mr. Yu’s hand. Why not fake her dad’s death instead and make Mr. Yu only believe that he had the upper hand? * Would Zhao Ling really make it look like he was creating a faction just like that? Especially using the lapis lazuli beads? Not unless he had a guaranteed checkmate. Maybe the Emperor is in on the whole plan? I did find it suspicious that the Emperor was so quick to dismiss all of those errors in the account records, so I wondered if they had something up their sleeve. Maybe the Emperor gave ZL the bracelet as a way to enact this grand plan, whatever it is. * Zhao Ling strategically turned her father against the Yu family that night at the hut by making him think he was betrayed by them. Makes sense to me for ZL to use that worthless pos against the Yus, as her dad was already kissing his a**.
I could be wrong, and I am totally open to being wrong. But I can also see this being a huge ploy. Maybe Tingyun is even in on it and playing along, although that seems a bit unlikely.
I hope the FL gets more "umph" as the show draws near its end. It was strong in the beggining, but I feel…
I don’t think she’s taken a back seat. She pulled Zhao Ling out of several sticky situations, with her latest plan entailing her kneeling on basically concrete for six hours to reconcile the Emperor and the GDE. She has been scheming with Zhao Ling and coming up with plans. She befriended Concubine Wu (sort of) and got information about the Yu family that paved the way for her to help ZL out of a predicament. I don’t see her in the back seat at ALL. In fact, ZL would be in trouble were it not for her.
Yes yes I picked this one up because of TRtS and I needed something to help me through the withdrawals while waiting for the next episodes 😂I have been putting this one off because I don’t like love triangles or dragged out lies / secret keeping. Even though this one features both of those tropes (I am only on episode 10), it’s not bad so far. Their chemistry is still good, and I’m one of the few who likes DYX’s styling in this (his hair isn’t tied up all the time hellloooo 🔥).
I am enjoying the way he is softening towards her, and even though she’s kind of… oblivious? she has spunk and smarts that I like. I wonder when the romance will start picking up and how annoying the tropes are going to get.
The interesting part about that is that it’s not true. Tingyun and Zhao Ling have outflanked the elder Yus at…
Yes I see what you’re saying, but isn’t the drama about the momentary wins and losses? After the birthday party the Yus had outsmarted them and set them back. The emperor didn’t acknowledge their wedding ceremony, had Mo Yi beaten and ZL scolded in front of anyone at court. Sure they eventually recovered, yes, but for a period of time they were on the losing end. Idk if I’m making sense.
