We were supposed to feel frustrated with ZL’s behavior - it wasn’t just bad writing or characterization - it was all intentional character development for the purpose of bringing the leads closer together and working through their internal conflict. This director and screenwriter also did The Prisoner of Beauty - have a little trust in their storytelling 😂 ❤️

You do know that he never actually considered taking her as a concubine, right? 😅He just couldn’t reject her openly right then or else it would have complicated his mission with the salt reform and offended the salt merchants. That’s why he went home and asked FTY for help getting him out of the predicament. Miss Wu’s aunt set up that trap in the beginning of 21 that ZL walked right into. She was trying to corner him into accepting Miss Wu as a concubine. He never once even considered accepting it, he just didn’t know how to reject the idea without compromising his mission. I’m looking forward to the upcoming episodes as well. This is shaping up to be one of my favorite dramas.

I do agree that ZL needs to make a clean break, and I think the writers want us to be feeling this way. They’re setting things up for ZL to take a horrible fall in his quest for power and I am here for that angst and character development. There have been many hints that we are heading in that direction and it will be deliciously painful 💔Then our leads will get on the same page and rise again as a united team with more discretion (like the repeated use of the Phoenix motif).

I guess I don’t see the absurdity of it all 🤷🏼‍♀️Tingyun has been threatening to move out and he has always been insecure with her. I also wonder if he had other motives for the visit, such as kissing up to Dad in order to get names of others who may have been involved.

Salt preserved food, specifically meat. People didn’t have freezers back then so they depended on salt to preserve their food.

I’m sorry but how can he? How realistic is it, really, for someone who has experienced crazy amounts of trauma be the same person? That doesn’t make any sense to me. Trauma changes everything about a person. If someone could just “be the same person” after trauma, there wouldn’t be trauma or PTSD. The reason people are impacted by trauma is because it changes them.

Lol. Um. Maybe you should focus more on fluffy dramas or other idol dramas where all of the characters are superhuman, never make mistakes, never get any deep development and never have any flaws or never act like normal human beings trying to survive? Just a thought, because damn 😂

You’re totally missing the point of his character development… we are supposed to feel uncomfortable with the changes in his character. He has a lot of trauma, had to cut off the head of Yucheng after he killed himself, spent 5 years in combat and killing others, was traumatized and belittled and made powerless by Lady Yu’s son and was cornered into a position of having to compromise his integrity and values in order to survive and protect the people he loves. Of course he’s not going to come out of that the exact same gentle and kind person he was before. If you’re uncomfortable with who he is now that’s the whole point :/ It means the writing and the storytelling is good.

Hmm. Regardless, it’s still hard to say how much of these alleged assumptions are from a leaked script or not. Granted, none of the feesible speculation out there would bother me if it happened (not even the main couple being on the brink of a divorce or even divorced).

Why would he? He’s only been loyal and devoted to Tingyun so far, not even a hint of liking anyone else. FTY knows he’s working on the salt reform… It’s obvious to us the viewers that she’d be jealous, but I can see how it wouldn’t even cross ZL’s mind that she would be. He hasn’t given any indication whatsoever that there’s ever been another girl. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah I would be careful about believing assumptions made based on BTS footage. Anyone could see footage of the filming and make baseless statements about what is happening with the plot with no actual evidence backing it up.

I plan on rewatching the episode tonight or tomorrow, but wasn’t a part of the whole plan ZL had with her dad also related to the salt reform? I wonder if part of that was ZL scheming and the marriage proposal not the whole reason. Am I totally wrong?

Can’t wait 🤩From my limited understanding, though, it seems like someone on X posted BTS footage of ZL acting gloomy with facial hair and said in the post that he was on the verge of divorce and had to kill a friend. I have no idea where the OP got that information from, because it certainly wasn’t in the BtS footage.

He’s changed a lot since joining the military and the separation arc. Him and TY aren’t on the same wavelength anymore like they used to be, but I trust they will find that groove again.

I think that after all they have been through the thought that she could be jealous / doubtful of his devotion to her was just unheard of to him 😂 That’s why he was so confused lol.

Meh I’m not worried, and honestly if this IS just as it seems then it would make sense. ZL and TY are already not seeing eye to eye and he’s doing a lot of things without including her, and he’s not considering anything she’s been trying to tell him. FTY has been ridiculed and mocked while her hubby is making enemies right and left. Maybe this whole thing is being used as his wake up call to get his shit together or he will end up losing everything.

But y’all are making some very big assumptions about what’s going to happen over very little information. I’m just gonna let the story be told.
