To XY he gave her all his lives. To gongong he gave him death. In this way XL was able to drag himself and gave his all to both of the most important person to him.
BUT.. What if he couldn’t save Jing? He saved Jing to give XY a reason to live. If Jing wasn’t save XY don’t have anything to look forward to. She could seek death or live a deathlike existence for the rest of her life. Knowing that would XY still leave XY behind? I doubt that. I don’t think he could. He cannot forsaken either Gongong or XY. I think he wouldn’t bare to die and would come back for her, from the battlefield. That’s just what I thought.

Seeing him like this, I kept thinking, would he still be okay with dying if he knew that XY would not be safe? At the end, CX said that he's glad XY is dying with him otherwise he would not be comfortable leaving XY behind. I think XL would feel the same way as CX if not more. If Jing wasn't saved, would XL still be okay with dying? I don't think XL will. He already know she get into so much trouble, getting hurt and dying multiple times. I don't think he's okay with dying and leaving her behind. He would not rest in peace, and it would go against his character as well. In that twisted way, I think they would have been together.
I'm left with 3 episode to end but TSJ is very pitiful and why do CX continuously blame TSJ as if he is a bad…
CX is jealous because he know XY love him for real. And as an ambitious man, CX can't respect someone who isn't as ambitious like TSJ. And of course, it's also because TSJ hurt XY. Like that one scene CX chastise Jing for standing up for FFYY, and Jing said he don't want FFYY to lose "face". CX straight up said, "the only person whose feelings I care about is XY."
So regardless of what the context is for CX, the only thing matter is XY and her feelings. Since Jing hurt XY, CX blame Jing.

I agree. I'm enjoying the drama the same way. None of the male leads are quite "right" so it's even more interesting/frustrating. If one has everything, the other two just going to get side-line, at least for me. I wouldn't care about the other two at all.
question for jing supporters from an almost jing supporter (he's so hot)... how do you interpret his indecisiveness…
As a Jing supporter I don’t see it as indecisiveness. He’s very decisive I’ve in pursuing XY, helping CX with his plan.
For me it’s frustrating what happened. BUT as for his character, I see it that he’s still trying to find a way to resolve his issues and he’s not being cruel. From his POV he doesn’t known FFYY is cheating. I’m aware that for their time period, if the engagement is broken for FFYY, she most likely will not be able to marry again, or at least to someone decent. He thought FFYY is innocent and he’s not cruel enough to to just drop her without planning/finding a way to make sure she’s okay. As for his grandma, again she’s the only family left. And she raised him right all this time, so it make sense that Jing is respectful toward her and wanted her approval. If he just screamed “I’ll do whatever I want”, I don’t think I see him as “dreamy” because it just rude af.
It’s frustrating but all three leads have something that frustrated me ~ if only they get rid of that then they would be with XY. I just see this as Jing dilemma that the author gave him and it’s understandable
I think I read somewhere the role of XY was offered to Angelababy back then. Thank goodness they shelved it 😂…

this is romance fantasy - even the settings tell you that a lot of things will not be align with the modern view of feminism. Secondly, the FL is not even a feminist. She's a person with a traumatic past, has her strengths and weaknesses. She's not a saint, but neither are the male leads or other female characters. All the other female characters have their own motivations, that if you think in their POV, is no less than the FL.
