XY in the story is around 400-500 years old. And she's only a young adult.
I'm guessing that 20 years of us is 400 years for them. That mean 1 year for us is 20 years for them, and 37 years are roughly 2 years in our human timeframe.

Yeah because XL did not know that Jing was pumping the spiritual power. I meant to say that XL acknowledge that transfer of power helped, and they acknowledge it in the drama.

I think they may cut short a few of the chapters where XY were just moping around, writing the medicine manual, and running her clinics. Honestly speaking I use to skim those chapters when reading it too.

Xinyue wanted her cake and eat it too, that's why. She's greedy. Just like Fangfeng Yiyang.

I came to the same conclusion. FengLong is the one that has none of the baggage the other leads have, but also none of the love.

He's a guy that put bros before hoes. He's a good friend, but when it come to romantic relationship, if you don't have other options he's good enough. But when you have CX, XL and Jing, FL fall far behind in the love department

didn't there's rumors that Zhang Wanyi got Jing part and then switch to CX... Hmm what is up with all these rumors that our actors all auditioned for Jing.

The drama is following exactly like the book. And the story main focus is romance centered around the FL. It's not about the politics, that is only the background setup.
They won't touch more on the politics, just only enough on how it ties all the characters together. It's okay if this is not your style. Maybe you expect more politics like Palace of Yanxi. This is not that type.

TCJ said that while he was acting, people kept telling him to act colder and more distance but he couldn't do it. He even said he talk to Yangzi and said that is not how he see XL. He said XL is the warmest person with just the coldest way of expressing himself.

People all see XL for how he want to appear, but TCJ really understood XL essence, who he truly is. Just because a character act cold doesn't mean they doesn't have a heart. TCJ really bring the human qualities that XL so desperately tried to mask.

So I'm rewatching the 9 episodes again, and I'm having A LOT of feelings that I can't even describe. But one new feeling I got was SUPER FRUSTRATION!!!
I got sidetracked by all the shipping wars these past few days but OMG.. I'm so frustrated for XY.
17 got so close but his family. XL done all that but his freaking Shenrong army.

Yeah I was sad, but I'm over it and is at the frustrating phrase. For the love of god, they both need to drop whatever that is and come to XY. Our girl is here getting tortured by love. It's so ironic that XY is asking so little and yet all these great men cant even give it to her. She has the most glorious background but can't even have a simple love. And we are all here suffering.

Only XY will know, but in modern term I think XL would qualify as the one that get away.

In metaphorical term, XY love for XL is like fire; passionate, enticing, but she too scare to get close and get burn. But with Jing, her love for him is like water, quiet, but with a powerful undercurrent that pushes her forward. XY is so jaded and so afraid of love and getting hurt, that loving Jing forces her to open up and embracing being loved and having love in her life.

Wow the last 9 episode was exhausting and emotionally draining.
There's so much to say about Jing, XL and CX. But I do have to say Zhang Wanyi is sooooo good. I can't believe they got such a good actor to play CX because anyone less talented, this character would have fell so flat. He nailed every scene. His expression is so minor but you feel all the weight of CX feelings. He really gave me goosebumps.

They around the same age so that must be fun. DW kept saying ZWY is funny. ZWY didn’t left unscathed cuz Tian Jianci said ZWY got fat. Lmao they can’t stop ribbing each other.
Only Hongyi escaped bc he’s the maknae

No surprise. In one of the bts ZWY literally called 17 a “simp”. He’s having fun grilling 17 🤣🤣🤣

Sorry I don't know why people can't understand that XY love Jing? He's not a pity party, he's not a logical SAFE choice. That's FengLong. XY loves Jing for who he is, as a person, even beyond her logical needs for stability or long term. From the moment they met, Jing was already someone special to XY.

The night she rescued him, he used his hand to block the melting candle from hurting her even on his deathbed. This one gestured touched XY and she already felt he was someone special. After that XY gentle take care of Jing and blushes when she saw his naked body. She has been a man for so many years but Jing was able to ignite the womanly desire in her. Jing already slipped into the tiniest crack of XY hardened heart at that point.

XY continue to treat Jing gently and different than the orphans and Lao Mu. She pitied them too but why did she treat Jing differently? Even XL pointed it out that XY treated Jing like her precious treasure. And this happened very early on. XY was always possessive and jealous when it come to Jing. She was jealous of Yiyang and also compared herself to Yiyang. She kept asking Jing which maid he find prettier, who take care of him, who he let touches his hair. She never dare to throw tantrum at CX or XL, but get mad at Jing for tiniest thing but is happy again when he pacify her. She misses him, initiated touching him, holding his hand, and kissing him. She got shy when he pointed out how she blushes. She acted like very much a woman/girl in love.

Yes XY had a traumatic childhood. But choosing Jing, and agreeing to the 15 years promise can only be possible because she love Jing. She pity the orphans, Fenglong can give her stability, why aren't she marrying them? Jing was always special to XY from the beginning. What he can offer is only icing on the cake, but Jing do genuinely occupied a piece of her heart beyond "logical" reason.

XL is a demon with no parents, subjected to a lot of abuse. Zhurong saved him so XL considered him his adopted father and pledge loyalty to Zhurong.

FL and Xinyue father was a Chenrong prince, who now work for the Xiyan Emperor to manage Chenrong kingdom. So technically the war is over. However, there are a general called Zhurong who not willing to give up, and still hold on to an army. These people wanted to revive their kingdom or died trying. XL now run this army in Zhurong's place. He's busy somewhere else.

Since CX is a prince of Xiyan. There is a chance he will become the next Xiyan King, therefore XL just took the opportunity to kill CX in case he does.

It is not slow burn. The drama does not have an obvious OTP. The girl will romance all three guys the same time. Each is very different. There are two seasons. This is the first season. There is a prequel series but it talk about the parents generation. It's very badly adapted so no need to watch it. All the background info you need is in this series.
