Concubines are slaves, property. They don't get an official wedding, don't come in through the main door and they can get beaten to death depending on the offense they are accused of. Qiao punishment would be considered light because chances are if any other person had done what she did, not only killing the future offspring of the Xu's but the main wife as well that concubine would have be beaten to death. Ohh, I couldn't agree more. I couldn't make it through that drama because of how toxic the relationship was. Is it so difficult for couples to just communicate? I really liked how ml and fl in this drama, especially the ml was so supportive of his queen and knew what she could or couldn't do. It didn't hurt that the fl was no damsel in distress.
