Title The Untamed
They adapted the whole novel:) Except the extras, which are..well..way to BL for China censorship to ever be filmed:)))
While I don't think they will do a second season since all the novel has been adapted ( unless they want to make extra original stories for it to continue), they will make a short movie that already has a trailer. But it is centered on Wen Ning and A-Yuan:) There isn't yet a release date. As for the ending..it's different, but also good, in my opinion. Many people see it as an open-ending, but not me:))

Hi:)) At the end of the novel nobody is chosen as the next Chief . Lan Wangji just elopes with Wei Ying and go from time to time to solve different mysteries as seen in the extras stories. The author of the novel said in an interview that if there was a continuation, the next chief cultivator that she would chose would be Nie Huaisang, as he has the means and the smarts to do a good job and do things the right way, as opposing to his predecessors (Wen Ruohan and Meng Yao). From what I remember, Lan Zhan's bro, Lan Xichen goes into seclusion after the novel end, because he feels guilty of being at fault with the deaths of his sworn brothers, Nie Mingjue and Meng Yao. In the drama, though, they chose Lan Wangji as the Chief Cultivator, but it seems to be implied that it was for a short while as he did go to search and meet Wei Wuxian again, at the final end of the drama.

Why are Jiang Cheng and xichen shipped together ? Is there any story abt them liking each other ?
LOL;)) Jiang Cheng is also banned from the dating list of the ladies`.` And it was actually mentioned in the novel, sooo...I guess he is being so angry that no girl would dare to date him:)) Fans go the BL way due to this also, I think.

After WY fell off from the cliff at nevernights ,was his body later discovered by LZ ? Then he went to burial…
Hope I'm not confusing the plot from the novel and the drama, since they are slightly different in details...but, from what I remember, Wei Wuxian's body was never discovered. I know for sure that in the novel the body was destroyed when he tried to destroy his artifact, the Stygian thingy. LZ found Wen Yuan after the last battle, after the rest of the Wen's were already tortured and dead. He actually returned to check for himself if Wei Ying was actually dead. As for the soul..that was never really explained. Since he was able to come back in Mo Xuanyu's body, then it means that his soul was complete. Also, WW also said at one point that he doesn't remember if somebody ever tried to burn paper money for him (traditional Chinese custom as a funeral offering to the dead one). So for sure his soul was ok, but he simply refused to appear...maybe:))

JGY's reaction when he realizes that he got played by NHS is priceless. When you think about it, NHS is truly the…
True! While very similar with each other, NHS and JGY are different in regards of their purpose: While NHS is driven by his desire to revenge his brother (which in the novel, the murder is even more horrible due to the fact that JGY actually dismembers NMJ and destroys his soul, making reincarnation impossible) and having the rest of the cultivation world know the truth, JGY is purely driven by his inferiority feelings which grow over time being filled with resentment (being a prostitute's son unrecognizable by his own father). In one way, implicating LXC in giving the killing stab is also some sort of punishment for LXC because in an indirect way, not only did the Song of Turmoil came from the Lan Sect, but also LXC always defended his other sworn brother in front of NMJ...Man...The author of the novel did a brilliant story! I read in one interview that the author would have made NHS as the next Chief Cultivator because he has all the means to do a better job than his predecessors:))

Hahaha! No problem! After LanZhan waiting so many years for Wei Ying and singing inquiry so many times to check if his soul is ok, I doubt that he would return just to leave again. The directors of this drama tried as best they could to follow the novel as much as possible, so the ending is quite fitting and happy for me :)) unlike many other Chinese dramas which are known for bad endings:))

For the novel, which is a BL novel, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan become cultivation partners and it is even implied in the extras from the novel that they got married. In the drama, we can see in the last minutes how they actually split up, but then, we also see a scenery change and Wei Wuxian hearing Lan Zhan calling his name. When Wei Wuxian turns around, he starts smiling and the drama ends. So my guess is that there is s little time skip and then they reunite!

Hmm...I wouldn't say that it is an open ending though. I mean..it is obvious that they couldn't do the ending from the novel because of censorship from China. I will add another comment with an small ending spoiler from the last minute from the drama, in case you want to risk it and read it:D

;D I found the info on various Chinese websites like xuehua that the animation for HOB has been officially announced, possibly for 2020-2022. No fixed date yet. As for the drama adaptation, yes!! The copyright has been bought for a lot! And based on the articles that I translated, the director is now looking into who to cast for Xie Lian,. I remember reading that they had 2 possible actors for the leads, but people don't think that they have chemistry so that's debatable. I'm still waiting for more news!! Still have no idea how they can adapt HOB since it's way more BL than The Untamed.

Personally, I liked the drama more than the novel :) If you want to read a very good novel from the same author ( which will also receive a drama adaptation and animation), I recommend Heaven's Official Blessing which is fully translated in english 244 chapters + extras. This novel is superb in details. The author improves a lot and it can be seen! And the art that fans have done is superb!

:) It depends on what you want more exactly. I don't want to spoil to much, but the novel is more gory in details because of the corpses, while the drama is more mild because of China censorship. On the other hand, I think that the actors of the drama did a really good job! Many Chinese fans said that Wei Wuxian is exactly like they wanted him to be based on the novel. You can also watch the season 1 of the animation together with the novel or the drama audio. I believe that that the animation is until the ending on the Sunshot campaign, don't remember exactly the chapter from the novel.

Does anyone what a clue on who sent the two girls to expose Meng Yao or what was Meng Yao actually digging for…
Regarding Huaisang...It is heavily implied in the last episode of the drama that Huaisang was the mastermind. Wei Wuxian implies that it is no coincidence that Mo Xuanyu ( the body he now possess) has used the body-sacrifice to call his soul, and that it is possible that the manuscript with the sacrifice was discovered by Mo Xuanyu because of Huaisang. All along the novel and the drama, in the present time, someone was leaving traces and guiding them to various places, such as Coffin City where Xue Yang was, and it is implied that that person has a grudge on who murdered Nie Mingjue ;D

The novel itself can be confusing because there are many small flashbacks. Many readers have said that it actually bothered them. The drama has just gone and did just one major flashback. Present time is episode 1-2 and then it's only in the past until episode 33, I believe. From episode 33 onward, only the present time and Wei Ying and Lan Zhan trying to solve the mystery of the dismembered hand (in the novel and donghua) and the sword ( in the drama).

Nie Huaisang is truly the MVP of the series. He outsold, outdone, outacted, outsmarted, outlived and indirectly…
He sure is! I mean, he may be just half-brothers with Nie Mingjue, and although he really isn't alike him in the fact that he doesn't want to cultivate using sabers ( and here I believe is also because he knows that sabers accelerate the qi deviation), he sure is ruthless in his actions, just like his brother! Too bad that there aren't that many scenes with the 2 brothers interacting because in the novel it's kinda implied that when Mingjue was approaching the qi deviation, he actually started being nasty to everyone, including burning the fan collection of Huaisang and even cutting his arm and leg when he was trying to help him..

Does the novel and this drama both have a happy end?
It's a happy ending! It is slightly different from the novel since the novel is actually BL and the drama isn't, but the directors and the actors managed that just fine!
