On The Lost Tomb 2 Sep 18, 2019
I haven't read the novels, but can somebody tell me/spoil me if in the books they discover what actually happened with the team that uncle Wu San Xing has gone with at the underwater tomb? I swear that I have more questions than answers regarding the mysteries that happened and it's a tad confusing:)) Also...kinda sad that season 3 is actually not a continuation of season 2 since they have left a huge cliffhanger. And also, the actors were perfect for the roles!! Especially Fatty Wang and WuXie!

Title The Untamed Spoiler
I have a question about the original novel plot. Note that I haven't read the novel yet, but just want to know…
If I am not mistaken, the producers weren't able to adapt the idea of Wei Wuxian as the founder of demonic cultivation because of some bans in China. In the novel and anime also, Wei Wuxian creates 3 major things: the Compass of Evil and the Spirit-Attraction Flag ( which you can see in episode 1 and 2 of the drama), and the Stygian Tiger Seal which is what the producers took the idea for the Yin Iron thingy. In the drama he didn't create it, but more like molded it, while in the novel he creates it, I think in the Tortoise Cave. That's also why the cultivation world both fears and admires him. He was also the 1st one who was able to successfully cultivate resentful energy and use it (control corpses and even make Wen Ning, a dead person, to be able to talk and think and retain memories), while nobody else in his generation or before him were able to do it. In the live-action they made it look like he wasn't the first and that Xue Yang was also able to control it or make fierce corpses like Wen Ning. Soo...they kinda downplayed Wei Wuxian a lot. Hope I was able to explain it properly:)

I’m rewatching it again while reading HOB and I cannot believe how beautifully handsome the two main leads are.…
There are some really good crossover fics over AO3! I'm sure there are a lot more in Chinese, but that's what happens when you don't know the language...you cry and hope that somebody will take pity and translate some, like some fans for Nirvana in Fire are doing for the fandom. Here are some of my fav fics with them:

https://archiveofourown.org/works/18816283/chapters/44648194 (Ongoing) https://archiveofourown.org/works/20243728 (One-shot, really good)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17896520/chapters/42247529 (12k, completed)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/18808807 (13k of fluff and cuteness, completed)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/18683212 (short drabble, completed,fluff)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/18692863 (short, completed, makes you crave for more)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/18960694 (1 chapter long, completed)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/20123026 (one-shot, 5k, really nice!)

These are my favorite, though you can find some more by playing with the tags on AO3. :)

Ahhh every time I start to watch something else I just give up because it isn't this drama and nothing compares,…
I still cannot believe how many people still can't get over The Untamed;))) It took me a while, but I recently decided to start The Lost Tomb and Candle in the Tomb series. Maybe give it a try also and see if it works to take your attention from the gorgeous The Untamed series.(low-key stalking the weibo for the movie with Wen Ning))) The actors in The Lost tomb keep on changing, but in all adaptations, the main leads and just perfect! Also...they are heading towards the brotherhood theme also, so not that much accent on female actors.

I watched the first episode of “The Untamed” and there were a lot of people that were turned into or taken…
Well, originally, the novel from which this is adapted, had corpses of people turn into 'kinda' zombies, but in China there is this censorship that doesn't allow for corpses themed dramas, so they named them puppets. And yes, there are quite a few. The main character that you saw in the 1st episode is the one that develops the 'puppet's idea even more. The first 2 episodes are taking place in the future, and afterwards, you can see from the end of episode 2 until episode 33 the past and how the main developed and what happens for them to reach until this certain point.

Yeah, and the author also has a 4th novel in the works! Well, I know that the copyright for an audio-drama, live action and animation has been bought for a record amount of money, so unless they want to lose the money, I'm pretty sure they will do it sooner or later! Regarding lost tomb 3, I sure hope so! I mean..I have been waiting so much for The Wolf to air this year, that I'm slowly loosing patience! Hope lost tomb 3 will not follow in it's steps! China makes great content, but sucks at giving release dates! I mean...The Untamed aired without any promotion or trailer! Poof, suddenly the first 4 episodes were out:)))

Yah, in the pic you can see the MC from HOB. The one in white is Xie Lian and the one in red is Hua Cheng. Fan-arts are superb! The fact that there is only the novel, but so much content from the fans is wonderful. There is even more content than The Untamed before the drama. Hehe~Nirvana in Fire is bittersweet! The female lead is not very present...like...only few episodes, 1-2 kisses and that's all. Which for me is perfect! Kinda hate meaningless romance with crying female characters..Too overrated and cliche. The drama is political, revenge themed, ancient, historical feeling with martial arts. It is adapted from a novel, and people say that the 1st version of the novel of Nirvana in Fire was slightly BL, before the author revised it:))) In the novel there is no romance between the main characters. Only brotherhood. As for the ending..well..spoiler here: he kinda dies and doesn't die as they never find his body. There was an alternative ending where it is implied that he is alive, but the scene was deleted. The actually deleted the episode and re-uploaded it without that scene, Don't know why since I liked it:))) I'm also waiting for the Lost Tomb 3!!! Cannot wait for the next installment to air, hopefully this year, depending on the slot allotment when they can broadcast.

Soooo true!! Bromance dramas are really well rated and have many viewers..don't know why there aren't many dramas like this one out...In China at least..In Japan there are more. We already know officially that dramas like The Guardian, The Untamed and Nirvana in Fire are very well received and they don't have a female lead actress and tend to the bromance topic...Anyways! I think it will take a few years for HOB to be adapted. The Untamed took 3 years!! HOB is more complex and requires more green screen effects. There are so many well written BL novels out there that they can adapt from*sulks* These 2 cuties need to have a live-action adaptation!! https://i.pinimg.com/originals/24/4c/eb/244ceb98304443179b5417305623f770.jpg

Hahaha:)) Well, when I said similar, I was more referring to the suffering they go through. Physically and mentally, they are described in a different way. As a spoiler in case you didn't read HOB, Xie Lian is/was a prince who then become an heavenly official, then banished, then ascended to become an official, and then banished again and finally ascended for a 3rd time..over the course of 600-800 years! During all this time, Xie Lian suffers hunger, mental health problems, tries to kills himself..becomes the god of scraps and barely has a roof over his head. But unlike Wei Ying, he is..how can I say it...although powerful, his image is quite meek, whereas Wei Wuxian is visibly leaking resentful energy and dark in his suffering period. Nope..not seeing the actors from here as leads for HOB:))) two different peas in a pod.

You're welcome! I actually enjoyed this drama more than I though I would, as I didn't had any high expectations after seeing the animation, which is one of the best China has produced. Regarding this, The Untamed now has a score of 7.9 on Douban (one of the most popular websites in China) which is really high! There is even a topic on baidu on how this drama topped any other from this genre, so I think it does really well! There were some controversies at the beginning because fans thought that the directors made Wen Qing the love interest of Wei Ying, and they kinda boycotted the show (also the reason of why the actress is not present in many interviews or stuff like that). I cannot find any info regarding profits, but the forums said that the popularity of the lead actors had reached new pecks!!

For chapters 1-20 here:https://www.sakhyulations.com/novel/heaven-officials-blessing/ and for the rest until the end, at this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1oXnp5Y2OD70i78utu4BcQ3xgAlygypd0 I know for sure that HOB will be adapted into an animation, maybe in 2020. At the earliest though... As for live action, I have read on some Chinese websites that the directors are in the casting period and trying to find somebody to fit Xie Lian. I have also read that they are actually finding it problematic with creating a good background regarding certain aspects like the Ghost City ( In China there is a censorship regarding undead, zombies and stuff like that and they will need to go around that, I guess))) Soo..I think there will be one, considering the popularity of the novel, which is bigger than MDZS, but it will take some years. The Untamed has been into production for around 3 years before releasing and there was no delay in the broadcast, which many dramas unfortunately suffer from.

Though I have enjoyed The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi and it will always have a spot in my heart:X , I believe that HOB is so much better developed as the author improved a lot! If I'm not mistaken, it also has the most hits on the Chinese website where it was published. Both have that ancient, historical, fantasy feeling to them, but the love in HOB is one of the greatest I have ever read! Don't wanna spoil too much, but...let's say that the lead characters, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are similar with Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan:))) but so much complex since the plot happens over 600 years!! Man...Hua Cheng is patient! If you thought that Lan Zhan is great for waiting 13 years... then HuaCheng is the greatest:))) The author really likes to make her characters to suffer, and Xie Lian suffers as much as Wei Ying. I started reading it after I saw these videos which are simply stunning: 1.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LNaP37yMz4&t=178s 2.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq2PEeuZUvk and the song with illustrations for almost all important characters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PphgoUuLEuI&list=PLVRoofylWDKtpY4i6zZ7kyJycesv3S2_L&index=32&t=0s

If you haven't yet, you should definitely read Heaven's Official Blessing, the author's latest novel. It's completed with a whooping 244 chapters+ which, because of lovely dedicated fans, is already fan translated into English! Just google fanart with the Xie Lian/HuaCheng words in the search box and it will be easier to visualize the main characters

I wish this drama was longer! The ending was beautifully done, and the chemistry between the main leads is extraordinary.…
It's so hard to give a recommendation...It's actually frustrating that I also have nothing to watch that can actually compare to The Untamed since it's one of a kind. Chinese dramas are kinda typical most of them,,like: romance triangle, bad cliche and the custom of actually ruining secondary characters. I do recommend though, Nirvana in Fire which also has a sequel. Very good drama with no plot holes, justice to all characters, good filmography and actors. Though it's more political themed with revenge and brotherhood feelings and you may have to watch more than 2 episodes before deciding if you wanna give it a go, since the story is complex. From my understanding, the original version of the novel also had at the beginning a BL theme, but the author revised it and morphed it towards brotherhood.

:))) Lolz, there are, I think 13-14 extras:)) But...they are way more BL than the rest of the story..like..they actually get intimate with each other and what not:))<...< And there are also some more plot-orientated short stories with corpses and things like that.

They adapted the whole novel:) Except the extras, which are..well..way to BL for China censorship to ever be filmed:)))
While I don't think they will do a second season since all the novel has been adapted ( unless they want to make extra original stories for it to continue), they will make a short movie that already has a trailer. But it is centered on Wen Ning and A-Yuan:) There isn't yet a release date. As for the ending..it's different, but also good, in my opinion. Many people see it as an open-ending, but not me:))

Hi:)) At the end of the novel nobody is chosen as the next Chief . Lan Wangji just elopes with Wei Ying and go from time to time to solve different mysteries as seen in the extras stories. The author of the novel said in an interview that if there was a continuation, the next chief cultivator that she would chose would be Nie Huaisang, as he has the means and the smarts to do a good job and do things the right way, as opposing to his predecessors (Wen Ruohan and Meng Yao). From what I remember, Lan Zhan's bro, Lan Xichen goes into seclusion after the novel end, because he feels guilty of being at fault with the deaths of his sworn brothers, Nie Mingjue and Meng Yao. In the drama, though, they chose Lan Wangji as the Chief Cultivator, but it seems to be implied that it was for a short while as he did go to search and meet Wei Wuxian again, at the final end of the drama.
