I just started episode 1. 15 min. I'm not sure I will stick to the drama because it's procedural + A-team tropes. But damn, the cinematography is great. Very good way of filming, movie-like. Good first scene. Many extras. Often a random chase at start can be boring, but not this one.
Really ? What for example ? I feel more she's trapped in the situation.
Indeed, if they were decisions made in cold blood or by a computer. But here, she is angry. And on the other hand, this guy makes her react. It's kind of like that in a confictual relationship that underlines a hidden attraction. These are irrational decisions, which cause fate to work out, so that she will be forced to participate in the reality show. This seems ok to me. But if you have difficulties to perceive it, maybe these scenes were too bland, or the intensity of the conflict should have been emphasized more. For example, why does she vomit on his shoes and not on his chest. The ML destroys her camera (which is already annoying), but could he have been even more obnoxious? I would have been amused if the escalation of the conflict between the two characters had been more violent. Right now, I already feel like they're about to hug each other.
Hi, and thanks for the long comment. You should write an article instead of just posting this as a comment, because…
Hello, I am also quite old, ahah. :-)
I'll have a hard time writing a lot of articles, it's not an activity I do often, and my motivation is low. I'm struggling with corrections to my drama script writing mainly. As you can see, the article itself is partly scripted, kind of like a story. It has to start with a bold event that easily grabs your attention, like any good first scene of a story. Then, we're talking about Sisyphus, but, plot-twist! A short retrospective of dramas before. Finally, short lines and some memes to better entertain.
Reading your comments, I'm thinking that maybe the theme of the article should have been "Original points presented in the drama", or something like that, focus on what is new, or rarely seen elsewhere. I still think that what is related to the fight scenes will have an impact. It's just amazing to see real Gun Fu in a drama. If I was a director and I saw that, it would inspire me. I would think: Yes, I see that in movies, but I can do that in a drama too. And it's not overly expensive to do. It's not just a matter of ratings. It's just that someone picks that up, regardless of anything else. I can see how this dynamic works in action movies.
That's the whole problem of writing an article or a review, because you have to present a theme or a message, and therefore take a risk. While precisely, as far as writing a story is concerned, this is something I totally evacuate, I don't like many stories based on this principle. The story alone is enough to carry themes naturally, without having to force them, or use an artificial process to convince or knock the viewer in a particular direction.
I think Goblin and TVN did something to Korean dramas as well: Beautifully directed, cinematic shorts with very…
Hi, Yes, It was discussed in one of the previous comments. But it was impossible to list all the key dramas. I ended on Nine, because it's also a Time Travel story. ;-)
I 100% agree with this very funny review....except...I thought the Grim Reaper was pretty cool and well played.…
I could never have bet that the screenwriter could capture the audience's attention so strongly with this drama. But in the context of the time, the visual quality was exceptional, and still is today. I was unable to immerse myself in the drama because of its slowness, it was horribly boring, the plot didn't move forward, and this genre of comedy always failed to entertain me. I read your review of Secret Love Affair, just imagine that I felt something similar. Perhaps one needs to be in a state of relaxation and acceptance of simple poetry and visual magic. I am able to do that on a movie like "The silent warrior", but not a whole drama. However, in terms of comedy, the writer is also capable of using another genre. Some other dramas she has written are quite funny.
Dang it....and I thought for once I got a fringe sub-culture reference right! Here you are outing me as being…
It's not that big of a deal to have got it wrong, it has happened to other people. To make things more fun, I also have this: You noticed that in the drama, the actors used manhwas, and you could even see the images from the comic book. The one that was used the most was volume 34. When the special edition DVD was released, there was a replica of this volume 34 in the box! It's a collector's item not found today. There must be just a few of them in the world. Here, one of the lucky owners, having been quick enough to buy this limited edition boxset: https://youtu.be/6L4oW109QwI?t=871
Hi, I come to inform you of an important point: The script of the drama is not inspired by a manhwa (or webtoon). The manhwa the story is about was entirely invented in and for the drama. The script of W is very dense. It looks like a movie script. It's quite easy to miss some elements, compared to other dramas that contain side scenes and depict the environment of the story. Here, everything is focused on the main plot. The audience doesn't have the same level of concentration in front of the movies as in front of the TV series.
Half of Episode 2, with coffee in hand. Well, now that I've accepted what was bad, I can focus on the rest. Because I'm still curious. As the pitch presumed, there are some good plot ideas in the way of forcing the characters to incorporate the main situation. With different motivations. It is certainly classic, but nevertheless well constructed. Some of the characters have a good potential for annoyance and assholery.

Should be 1.8.

I like to tickle a bit...

In two words : BORING CIRCUS.
