I’m actually wishing that this was one of those BLs with multiple pairs, because Katori would make someone a fine boyfriend. He’s kind of a dreamboat if you ask me. Probably the best “unattached” best friend character since Knott in SOTUS.
I was dreading this episode because I thought they were dragging out the "goodbye" another hour. But I was actually rather engaged with it. There was a little more story to tell and just because we had all those tears on the bridge last episode, didn't mean we didn't have room for a teary alba before dawn the day they depart. Sniffle. I'm not crying. You're crying.
I liked how Cake decided to be on his best behavior by getting up on his own, only to have that make it more poignant when we realize he was just preparing for the time Seeiw wasn't there. And now that he's going, Seeiw doesn't care if they are seen together.
Cake though is a bit of a schmuck when it comes to breaking up with Min. Look, they were everything I hated about couples dating when I was in Junior high. The constant need to be in contact. The long phone calls. The "what are you doing?" calls when there's nothing going on. Its all so insincere, insecure, and unstable. But I got tired of him trying to put words in her mouth so that she was the one breaking up with him. Putz. Typical putzy teen. I'm so glad he didn't do that with Seeiw, too.
I hope he leaves early next episode so we can get to part where Seeiw is not the same boy Cake leaves behind. I hope the transformation is quick and there a time skip. I'm curious to see what they do. I'm hoping for some kind of Grease transformation where goody-two-shoes Seeiw dyes his hair blonde, puts on some tight black-leather pants and whatever the male equivalent of high heeled shoes is. "you better shape up. Cause i need a man. And my heart is set on you...."
The good: Kan and Thua, as usual. I'm glad they resolved that "Bruce Wayne" nonsense. Yeah, Kan was the obvious choice, but what if it weren't. And they didn't drag it out after the revelation. Thua could have been mad at the deception, but the joy of finding out the answer to his question from the person he wanted the answer from was greater than the frustration about finding that Kan can't speak directly to him. It's where there relationship is right now - elated but unable to speak. Hopefully, they'll both stop trying to protect each other so much so they can move on to having an actual date. I'm just relieved that Thua didn't get angry and send us all back to space 1 in their development.
I'm about at the breaking point on solving the mystery and having Ayan come to terms with Dika's suicide. I liked how Prapt brought in a different interpretation of the cause of Dika's death - he suffered from depression. The hint that Ayan does, too, is worrisome. It might be a bit late in the story to bring that into consideration. But its possible that he's on a crusade to solve this mystery and get revenge because he doesn't want to deal with his own depression and the fact that his mentor and hero was sick. Don't get me wrong - the school and its rules suck - but he might not be justified in his vengeance. I would like a flashback telling us the story of Dika and who he really was soon, though.
The Meh I wish they would have put more thought into how the notebook was going to be rediscovered. Having Thua literally stumble for no reason. They might as well have had it fall into their hands from the sky. It was easier to lose that book than figure out how they were going to find it again.
Same with using Namo as the universal spy. I'm sure he saw what happened on the beach and in Akk's bedroom. He just always happens to be where he needs to be. There's no way he heard that conversation from behind that door. But then a few episodes back, Akk and Kan were able to hear a conversation from across a crowded cafe when the participants weren't facing them. Sound in Thailand follows its own rules. Anyway, I hope they can stop moving this story forward by having people overhearing conversations.
Its starting to get bogged down with ideas and it needs to start resolving the conflicts a little.
Yeah. I kind of want to write a note to Mame about kidnapping and rape. Like this is the third time in one of…
Yeah. You're correct about the tonal whiplash. Not to harp on it too much, but I'm a bit peeved. The other two kidnappings I mentioned actually changed things. When Ae rescues Pete, he beats Trump so severely that Pete and Ae are forced to break up because Pete's dad can use Trump's injuries as a means to bankrupt Ae's family. The rape of Tar impacts not just his relationship with Tharn but his ability to have a relationship with anyone. Here...what happens exactly? I mean, I guess we learn that haughty Phayu is willing to humiliate himself, but once this traumatic event is over, they are the same as they were before. Its almost as if coming up with an excuse to put bruises on their faces was the point.
I adored the suit and found the color admirable, though. Very bold. He's not afraid. No hiding behind grey or…
Yeah, I was too focused on how they helped show off his meaty thighs and sexy ass to notice the clash. He'd have to remind me that "My eyes are up here" if I met him in that suit.
OK, I'm confused. Was that intenionally funny? I really can't tell. The acting was really good, but the plot was…
Yeah. I kind of want to write a note to Mame about kidnapping and rape. Like this is the third time in one of her novels that someone has been kidnapped that I'm aware of, and you'd think she'd be good at those kinds of scenes by now. At least in Love By Chance they gave Trump the motive that he was a drug and gambling addict who needed money and was trying to extort it from Pete before Ae came in and beat him nearly to death. And when Lhong hired thugs to drug and rape Tar he was motivated by jealousy. (Lhong's motivation there was a bit questionable given the magnitude of the crimes he commits. Its like using a flamethrower to kill a mosquito). Stop's motivation is what exactly? He really really doesn't like it when people talk back to him.
O.K. Fine. I'll grant that motive, even if the means for revenge are a bit over the top and way out of proportion to the slight. Mame likes toxic men being violent to each other and rape and threatening rape are her turn on. But at least handle the rest of it. Does Phayu really have a reason to suspect foul play the second Rain doesn't pick up the phone and rush out of the office? No. Or worry that Rain has left him? No. Do phones these days really give the "beep beep beep" when they aren't in service? No. Is Rain so poor that he'd not pay to set up voicemail? No. Does he really come home in the middle of the day and it takes 4 hours until after sundown to go through his entire house to figure out that Rain isn't there? No. Would his brother really let him stew for hours without demanding to know what is wrong? No. Would Stop text him a map that says "Abandoned Warehouse behind the Race Track" as the location? No.
I know I'm not supposed to react negatively to these things, but I can tell when writers think "Oh, these BL fans, are so dumb. They won't notice." Its condescending. Makes me so mad that I'm going to find two thugs to find the writers and toss them in a van. Because apparently that's what people do when someone insults them in a bathroom.
IDK. I was liking the series until this episode, which felt like a bunch filler. Yeah. I get that kidnapping is exciting, but it really didn't add anything. They might as well have gone to the beach and splashed around in the water for all it added to their development as a couple. It was good for a laugh and that was about it. And it managed to tick off a bunch of boxes about things that drive me crazy about Thai BL.
I'm sure Mame has penned a novel or is planning to on the relationship of Bas and Stop and what has turned Stop into a psychotic toxic male who can't let any slight go even if it means spending 20 years behind bars (he's lucky the mob showed up to beat him nearly to death, as it may be cheaper than hiring defense attorneys.). At least when Trump kidnapped and beat Pete and threatened to rape him in Love by Chance, it changed the trajectory of the plot. But here, its felt like no one really had any motive and the relationship before the kidnapping was the same as it was after. It wasn't much of a test for their love.
I did like that the thugs who grabbed Rain off the street and threw him in a van weren't aware that there was a kidnapping going on. Although I hate to break it to them, but forcibly moving someone from one place to someplace they don't want to be is in fact kidnapping, even if they just wanted to beat him up.
I'm sorry. Rain giving out Sky's number to a stranger is f*cked-up! No excuses for that!
No offense to Payu, but if I'm Rain, I'm going to slow walk giving out that number because Prapai threat is that he won't leave. Really, hot boy, you just stay where you are so I can look at you all afternoon. I won't mind.
I binged the 6 episodes and I’m not gonna continue.. I shouldn’t have jump in with high expectations. I should’v…
I don't quite get the comparison. One is a mafia comedy with some gay sex, the other is a university rom-com with some gay sex. You're also comparing one series where the characters are sexually experienced adults to one where one of the characters is very much a virgin, not just when it comes to gay sex, but any sex at all.
Episode 8 thoughts -Not sure of Bew's motive for working with Yo. We'll find out next week. My hypotheses are a) Bew really doesn't have a plan. His feelings for Gus are so conflicted after the betrayal that he sometimes acts to destroy Gus and sometimes acts to keep Gus around. He just isn't thinking that far ahead. b) Bew did have a plan, and that was to make Gus his boyfriend. He needed to get rid of the managers because when they were around, Gus would always be fed the idea that it was all just an act and they were going to pull them apart with their squabbling. He released the video and took the hit to become the victim, but he has another video where Gus' face is visible. The goal has been to come out publicly with the relationship which will make it difficult for Gus to break up with him in the future. Who knows. -O.K. the managers have no idea what "chemistry" is. Peak looks very uncomfortable around Kla. There's a history there and I look forward to finding out about it. If he didn't need the money, he'd probably ask for a different partner, if he'd join at all. -Yeah, dear campus fujoshi with your cute boy shipping pages. LOL. All you're doing is helping swindling managers locate innocent young men to recruit into the atrocious BL mill of oppression. I hope you're happy now. :-) -Who was the new manager? Was that Cheewin?
I’m wondering if he started everything before or after he found out he was betrayed. He’s the one who leaked…
I think we'll have to wait to find out what Bew's true motives are. I think it will probably turn out to be that he's more obsessed with Gus than anything. If he really wanted to get revenge on Gus, he could have ended the ship when he ended it with the managers. I think he wanted Gus to have no choice but to really love him, and if that didn't work, make Gus dependent on him.
Does anyone have the link to segment 3 on youtube? AIS Play seems to have neglected to post that. I have 1, 2 from the membership page. 4 from my alerts. But no 3.
its was a private time between Gus and Bew. i believe it was Gus who shot it but was leaked by Bew's manager,…
Thankfully I'm too old to have lived in a world where videoing myself having sex in my youth was an easy option, so I have no "TMI Bombs" waiting to explode. But not too old that if I did do that, I wouldn't remember to put a strong password on the video so my manager couldn't find it.
