My thoughts exactly. I liked Hwa and Tutor much more in the book. I loved that Hwa never forced her feelings on Fighter. She may not have liked their uncertain relationship but she was never clingy. When Hwa was telling Fight about Tutor in the episode, she was talking like she sees Tutor as a poor relative who you can't help but pity and are obliged to help. Hwa in the book was actually very proud to tell Fight that Tutor never asks anyone for help and had even refused her parents offer of financial aid. She only pushed Tutor to help Fight because Tutor lost all his part time jobs and had no source of income anymore. Tutor in the book made me worried til my heart hurt. I worried every time he was alone in his room because that's when we see the real Tutor who is exhausted with life and his daily struggle. But he still forced himself to stay positive. Here Tutor himself doesn't seem bothered so why should we bother.
They have a proper source material for the story. I don't see the purpose of changing something that would have made the story more fluid and characters more understandable. Instead they made everyone into caricatures.
The scene in ep 01 when that guy came to collect money from him was such lazy writing to tell us about Tutor's money troubles.

I am disappointed by this entire 2nd episode except for the TharnType part(my babies). I see some scenes have different tone then in the book. I don't like that the series is pushing us to feel pity for Tutor by making him seem pathetic to other characters ....when he's not. I don't want anyone to pity him....he'd hate that. He is strong and determined person, who may occasionally question his own ability to overcome his problems but always pushes himself to think positive. Hwa in the book was very careful about not hurting Tutors feelings by making him feel like a charity case. They changed her here. Yes, she arranged Fight to get help in english from Tutor but Fight actually needed his help in the subject. It was not done out of pity. Author of the book did a good job at maintaining Tutors dignity through his troubles....why did they change it here. It does not seem a good way to tell the story.
The friends of Zon went from just annoying to super annoying in this one. Fight suddenly getting physical with Tutor made no sense. Hwa was making me cringe. Did they change the writer suddenly?

The author announced she will release the English version this year...maybe in few months, not sure. There are also some fan translations on Wattpad, if you want. But they have stopped after chapter 8 and half of chapter 9. They will continue after the series catches up to the story.

The bangs are making my hands itch. Especially on Zon. It looks so untidy. I just want to grab a brush and get all that hair off of his forehead. I blame the koreans for their obsession of smaller faces that created this trend. I'm starting to miss that skinhead cut of Noh's from Lovesick.

I'll have even more respect for her if she was really doing that herself in her garage. Don't disrespect the people in the garage.

Saint's acting on occasion kind of bothered me in LBC too. I think the problem is his connection to the character. If he doesn't relate to his character's actions, his expressions, body language becomes unnatural or awkward. And I saw in ep 01, he still hasn't improved in those parts. Sometimes he does very well in sad scenes but then I cringed in every one of his crying scenes in LBC. He was a newbie then, I hope he has improved now.
Let's see....its only one episode and anyways we have Zee and his hotness to distract us.

If you want to know the basic plotline before going in you can watch it. It also has spoilers, bts and actual scenes from later episodes. First episode may seem confusing if you don't know a bit of the background.

I didn't like many thing about it too. Saint is ok, I expected more from him. But Zee is doing a very good job. At least in the first episode. So I say you've nothing to loose, give it a shot. I'm gonna be watching just for Zee. And I didn't even know who he was til yesterday.

Consent is a rare thing in the entire yaoi universe, dear. Especially chinese and thai bl novels. TharnType the series actually toned it down a lot from its source material. And after Tharn finds out about Type's trauma in ep 04, we can see the change in Tharn's behavior.

Man, It's scary how us TharnType fans are so in sync with each other. I went and binged all my favorite TharnType moments from the show after their cameo last night.

If the director, actor or the production house have good relationship with actors of another show they ask them to do a guest appearance. If there is no conflict of interest most of the actors agree to do it as a goodwill gesture. And it also boosts the popularity of the show. Thai bl industry is like a small community...almost everyone knows each other and have worked with each other in one way or the other.

I think Mew's mom is shipping them too. Tharntype05 on twitter translated this. After yesterdays fan signing event ended, Mew's mom was in an elevator with a lot of people including some staff and the person who posted this on her twitter. Mew's mom was talking to someone and she said something like "My family has 2 sons now"...meaning Gulf. And people in the elevator started screaming. Its like everyone wants them to be together.

Mew's mom also accompanies them most of the time.

I stopped liking the sister after that. I don't read fanfiction about my favorite bl actors. I don't mind FF about their characters but reading FF about real people, the actors makes me uncomfortable too. So I get Zon's feelings about this. I hated that they trivialized it for laughs.

Director of MIR?? Now I understand why it was so hard to get through the episode. I have not been able to finish that show til today.
Two things grabbed my interest enough to continue on to 2nd week. First is Zee. He was the only actor on point with his expressions in every scene. Not overdoing it or under doing it like others. I've read the few chapters from the book that are available in English and I didn't like Fighter at all in it. But Zee made me like Fighter in the first episode itself. He seems to understand his character very well. I saw attraction in Fighter's eyes for Tutor...saw him fight his crush with petty actions. So, Zee is the reason I'll be watching this for now.
Second is my babies at the end......Oh God I miss them so much. Even though I see MewGulf content every day but TharnType has my heart forever.

MewGulf is on another level entirely. I don't think any bl or bg screen couple got this much attention before. I'm so conflicted about all of this though. I like all the cute fan service. I love that they have this amazing relationship/friendship. But it also makes me scared. Fans can get obsessive and delusional. They will find it very hard to get out of their characters TharnType and this fan service seems more of an extension of it.
For e.g. Singto and Krist, even after years fans were still being really childish when Friendzone and He came to me series came out. Saint and Perth, even though they got really popular after LBC, the drama with the managers over shadowed everything and it took them 2 years to play other characters. MaxTul still can't get over their KornKnock characters. Max's storyline in Bangkok love stories-Innocence was actually not bad, the writing was. He also had pretty amazing chemistry with his co-star. But I don't think many people watched it coz I don't see many people talking about it. I have to confess I only watched the bl parts.
I don't want that to happen with MewGulf. I want their fans to understand that they are actors and they need to work... with other actors if they get the chance. Please support their choices, as that's how they will grow as actors..

Me too. I'm more excited about the translated books. Hopefully they will come through for international fans and make it available in an ebook format too. But we have to be patient because only book 1 has been translated fully. Book 2 may not be ready yet. (So only until ep 7). And I'm not sure book 3 is even being translated at all right now. Maybe they are planning it for after season 2.
