Everything you find stupid in this drama was not in the novel. Both leads were logical, practical and smart in the book. The author of the novel usually makes her heroines choose wrong people first, maybe practical choices would be a better phrase. Later both leads go through stuff which makes their relationship stronger. Male lead gets girls in the show to create more drama. In the novel they hardly make an impression. Except for the spoiled princess, even she was less annoying in the novel...no one took her seriously in there.
You said tone it down...its the opposite with C-Dramas based on books. They usually exaggerate the drama created by annoying people because they feel source material didn't have enough. But if you read the novel you'll find enough drama in it. They just add stupid scenes that make no sense from logical point to fill the time to make the episode length.Same thing happening right now with The double. Too many annoying people making trouble for no reason.

If the license to air in china has expired then the creators are free to sell the airing rights to other places and platforms to recover their money. Isn't that how it works....that's what I've heard.
The problem is, will Tencent be willing to do that. They put a lot of money in this drama and if they sell it will they recover anything close to what they would have made by airing it themselves.

I think major part of S2 is 2nd Prince and FX trying to bring each other down....more like 2nd prince trying to force, manipulate and threaten FX to get him involved and FX doing everything he can to stay uninvolved in the throne wars. If you liked 2nd Prince in S1, get ready to be frustrated with him in this season.....and maybe feel a little...just a little bit, sorry for him. I hope the writers/creators are able to show just how much 2nd prince didn't want to fight his brothers for the throne but he only did it because the emperor left him no choice.
Also, 2nd prince and FX will have to be on opposing sides so that First Prince can come and swoop up the FX's bff tag.

MAJOR SPOILER BELOW...Oh he can have a chance, First prince has control of a huge military force, if FX helped him he could stage a coup...which he would later...maybe in season three to bring down Empress dowager, emperor was missing at this time.The only reason first prince doesn't want to is because his mother raised him like that. His mother was a prisoner of war and looked after the injured emperor during their journey to the capital after the war ended. She survived because of FX's mother. After FX came to the capital, She had only one instruction for her son....Never do anything against FX. so If FX wanted he could create a lot of trouble in the court....but all he wanted was a peaceful life. But the emperor had other plans.

No. He actually did everything in his power to stay away from it. He became friends with the only prince who like him, had no interest in fighting for the throne...the first prince.

I think the age gap is around 8 years. It seemed much bigger coz in the drama they put a child actor to play Pei su's younger version. Pei su was around 15 when he first met Lou and 7 years later he's in his early 20s when the drama starts. Lou was in his early-mid 20s when he first met PeiSu and in his 30s when the drama starts.

Hope you like it. I watched it when the original came out in 2017 and still remember quite a bit...so it left an impression. Just wish they would move on and finish casting so they can start filming.

I'm sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. Her son was very little when she was arrested...so it was definitely not him. I have no idea what changes they are going to make in the korean version but the original version was great. Hopefully they wont change it terribly.

To me, it looks like the weight loss was stress related. PMY was going through some personal issues recently. There are still articles coming out about that. so my guess is the weight loss for cancer patient look is the PR answer to questions about her weight.

I'm sorry but did you watch episode 1? Zhou Zishu is not a Saint, you know. Those 81 brothers from 4 seasons Manor...how do you think they all died? Hint....not all of them were killed by their enemies.My point is both the leads have done some terrible things to survive and neither of them would pass judgement on the other on the way they choose to survive.Its fortunate that they met each other at the time they had both given up on life. They both chose to continue living because of the other.

Oh, I agree. I also think WOH went a bit overboard in the flirting and attracted attention from moral police which then resulted in getting every other drama in the genre getting recalled for reviews...then getting shelved. They should have known this would happen....it happened with Guardian which was before untamed. But Guardian didn't get the full brunt as they had already finished airing.
Pity, I was so looking forward to watch modu, sha po lang and Tian guan cifu.

Justice in the dark gettting pulled might have more to do with the storyline than with censored bl parts. The case where they stopped in episode 8 was about pedophilia and child trafficking....with an overall deeper plot of police corruption. There was also a good part of the story on families of victims of other crimes becoming suicidal killers. Another case was about horrific bullying in a school. All these things do not exist in china...according to ccp.
What I don't understand is, with all their censorship rules, dramas do remove all the questionable stuff to get through the censors. Then only do they get the airing license....only to get pulled off air suddenly. These dramas have already been reviewed multiple times....makes no sense.

Yes, with some rewriting/redubbing and proper editing, it definitely is possible to pass it as a bromance. Priest the author doesn't write explicit scenes. Her books mostly have flirting and some kisses. This being a political and war drama has very good chance of getting bro-edited to let it air. Who knows, the creators might already have filmed it as a bromance. It just got stuck because of the ban just when they were about to air it.

Actually, chang geng is only 7-8years younger then GuYun. But GuYun has a very mischievous personality so at times it seems chang geng is the mature one.

Yes, GuYun is the commander of black iron battalion that protects the North border that's always under attack...as His father before him. GuYun was very little when his mom and dad took him to the border. He was severely injured in a suicide attack. After that his eyesight and hearing was almost gone. His father trained him in martial arts without sight. GuYun was sent to find chang geng by the emperor...who it turns out is Chang geng's father. which makes him the 4th Prince of the kingdom. The emperor also raised GuYun for some time so they had a close relationship...and after guyuns parents died he was his only family. So Guyun went to look for changeng and found him almost dying under a wolf attack. After he saved him , as a sign of repayment GuYun became his godfather.

A large part of it is political machinations and war. But interspersed with some great emotional and angsty scenes. But the best part is how both leads care and support each other. There are misunderstandings(no open communications)but they never give up on each other. ML's situation made me cry so many times. Like he never wanted the power but for GuYun to have a peaceful life he deep dived into the dirty politics and changed the face of the whole country.

Recently read it again...3rd time I think.

She is a female who was raised as a boy. The reason...very simple... thats the only way she could claim the throne. The mother, the teacher and doudou... that's all the people that know about it.
