is this as good as alice in borderland and was it better than the original jp movie
Personally, I prefer Alice in Borderland… Mostly because Japanese productions tend to be better executed, in terms of “No inhibitions are left untouched.” Just as the original Japanese Manga series Kaiji… The Chinese cinematographic version - Animal World was very well made. A well blend of estheticism, eclecticism, fantasy and suspense (I can not wait for the sequel).
Although, the color palettes are a bit too flamboyant for my taste, Squid Game is also a good watch.
Again, to summarize what OMGZ has already stated and I also agreed with the above comment: While Animal World is the Chinese cinematographic version of Kaiji - Released in theaters on June 29, 2018… Squid Game is also loosely based on Kaiji - The Japanese Manga that was made into a series in November 1995 by the author, Nobuyuki Fukumoto.
Fyi: Squid Game was initially written it in 2009; however, the author was unable to find a production company to fund the idea until Netflix took an interest around 2019. And yes, Netflix has acquired the global digital rights to the film, Animal World; while, Squid Game was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix… Do you see the connections, there?
I wish that they had used an actual children’s cast to play their early years. They are supposedly high school seniors; however, they look like early-twenties/late-twenties and they are acting like pre-teens’ characters. And it doesn’t help that their parents are calling them and treating them like, actual young kids.
So far… for me, the first episode was not the best. But I will stick around for Lin Yi.
Why most modern Cdrama productions are so… What is the word that I am looking for…? Oh yeah… FATUOS.
Here with my favorites like, Tong Meng Shi and Crystal Yuan; I am barely able to appreciate their talents because the general production is so subpar. Makes me wonder why many talented actors and actresses agreed to be part of those horrendous productions?
Tofu has to be the cutest and the most endearing teddy-bear/human-boy, ever (I wish my teddy-bear could also transform itself into a cute human as well😉)… While, Nut (although, I understand his frustration of having a complete stranger staying at his house) is a bit of an a$$, specially to his mother… to put it mildly. The dog is also an unique character in its own rights.
His sandal of sexual assault was false accusations. The people have apologized and he is suing them. Before jumping…
Just one question: So why did he write a letter of apology, then? Would that anger his newly created anti-fans even more…
PS: I was so disappointed when he got removed from River Where the Moon Rises… I was so excited to watch him as the male lead in that Sageuk, prior the whole scandal.
same here 2021 after the long ballad at the begining of the year , happiness made my end of year.bomah and hyunah…
His 2 years of military service did him goooooooood…😉 Park Hyung-Sik was always good at acting; however now, his performances are more in-tuned and are more refined. His stage-presence and charisma are simply exponentially more awesome.
Indeed, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon was a funny production.
Right? Thanks to you, I just realized that the only thai bls I really liked immensely and actually rewatched,…
Another great Thai director is Boss Naruebet Kuno (Boss). Whenever I read the names of Aof and Boss… These are my cues to pay closer attention. *We can have a great cast and a decent script; however, a bad director can completely ruin everything.
Oh my… This is the most alluring review that I have read, in a really long time.
Indeed, me as well… Solely because of my overactive imagination, I found myself on the same road, walking with Shiro and Ichiro… Knowing fully well that there will not be any “Red Chamber” at the end of that journey.

Splendid🤨!

Great start!
If this is true, it is very upsetting because I have always enjoyed his acting.

Myself, I am the opposite… The longer, the better.
Of course, as long as it is a good production.
Whenever I read the names of Aof and Boss…

Werewolf, it made sense then.
But what about his pants? He never took them off🤣😅😅
Maybe he got payed extra… Every time that he was shirtless😅🤣😂.

I totally lost count there.
A pretty face with a very detestable personality.
