Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I literally thought that I was the only strange one in the group; who noticed the so-called romance between the 2 leads felt basically forced and illogical.
A king who is begging for the L word, to the point of trapping his love interest inside of a prison-palace… And a consort who is still ambiguous about her true feelings and the reason why she decided to stay inside of her golden cage, even after 17 episodes… Unless, you are confident about your love for your man, loosing your hard earned independence and you don’t give a rat a$s about sharing your man with a hundred of other scheming wenches… Why would you agree to stay?
I have to admit that I was impressed by Junho’s performance in this role. The delivery of his emotions was well done. However, I have to also admit that I got annoyed countless times by his character. I basically implored him to stop begging for her love😠. And that was not the actor’s fault but downright, the writing behind his character. As for the FL… She reminds me of the FL doctor from Nirvana in Fire 2. Too bold, too cold, too ambiguous about her true feelings but she did not mind the attention, the kinship and the intimacy🤨.
For me, it was a very weird romance. I am simply astonished by the rave reviews and the high ratings. Oh well, it is not the first time and most definitely not the last.
I kind of agree with this analysis after I rewatched the drama again. Apart from the actors/actresses great performances,…
Exactly! It was hard watching them together for the most parts. I have watched Yi San (2007) countless times; which is in a nutshell, the original version for this one. Never once, did I hope that they don’t end up together. Their romance was so heartbreaking and so heart-wrenching. Her character was willing to suffer through cancer in secret so she could give birth to her second son. And the king cried and sobbed like a mental man when he found out about it, on her and unborn son’s death bed. “You promised me to stay with me forever and to never leave me alone inside this prison all by myself…” There was no forced romance, no uncomfortable trap. He let her made the decision to have the life that she wanted . To go study in China (Qing) for years under numerous famous Chinese painters. She decided on her own volition to come back to Joseon for him, after years apart. Her decision! And I loved that, about that well developed storyline.

I love both lead actors: Lee Ju nho and Lee Se young. Have seen some of their dramas previously and so I had high…

What they censored? Also censorship has been existing for a long time, if you are a good story teller at this…
Strictly my personal preferences… I can’t disagree with you neither. I do appreciate my men to be strong and virile. The pearly skinned-flower boys looking ones are definitely not my penchant.

Who darned knows anymore… Different types of reincarnation, transmutation, transfiguration… The newest ones were about the leading male leads should look more masculine and less feminine.
In a nutshell, they should not look too handsome. (Add some mustaches and a broken tooth here and there🤣😅😂).

I gave 2 examples. One is a Xianxia BL adaptation. And the other one is a straight up Wuxia. The insane regulations are not only directed at BL adaptations.

Easier said than done… Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities took forever to release because of editing and re-editing, over and over again. If the government is coming with new rules and new sanctions every other week, are you quite certain that it would be easy for the writers and the directors to work around them…? Perfect examples, Immortality - We are still waiting from the last trillion newest sanctions. The Wolf - That drama got edited so excessively that the finale storyline was completely different from the starting point.
Once again… A would-have-been great costume drama ruined by the famously insane Chinese Censorship Bureau. The forced editing is so crazy that the storyline is missing lengthy sections here and there… There and here… The ding drama is playing peek-a-boo with me😳… What a shame. I can sense some great backbones through their polka-dots storyline. I am a fan of the 3 main leads so I will be a trooper and stay a while longer.
I am changing this classic idiom of… “Two's company, three's a crowd.” For “Three’s company, four’s a crowd.”
This drama is the newest-evolved, updated or the classic irritating case where the fourth character, Liu Ran, is literally decreasing the value of the production. I might actually pause or drop this show all-together; simply because of her. Liu Ran’s audacious character just irritates me.
PS: I was so excited to see 2 favorite actor and actress from Joy of Life; however in this one, Liu Ran’s character is doing a 180 on me.
I think his character did not have much to do with the acting because most of the time he was only required to…
Then you should check Ever Night season 1. The kid was simply phenomenal in it. It was a massive mistake not to have him come back for the second season.
Talking about of an unexpected gem, enclosed in layers of pure gold… This drama deserves a much higher rating. The entire production is worthy to be on the silver-screen. A stunning cinematographic piece.
Fyi: Arthur’s clear improvements were also fully noted (His acting skills got very much sharpen)… Compared to his last fiasco, Legend of Awakening.

First love is simply a torrent of intricate emotions without any prior training nor practice.
It was hard watching them together for the most parts.

Great 3 leading main cast…
A truly waste of a script!

Gold Panning is worthy of a cinéma noir du bon vieux temps.
