Just finished it and I honestly felt like I just wasted my time. The ending was stupid and the drama overall just very underwhelming.

One of my least liked aspects of Korean culture is their fascination and devotion to hierarchies. It is ingrained into every aspect of the culture, even their language. This fascination with power and haves and have-nots. It's all about feeling superior to others. Needing that validation. Corruption and bullying is rampant because of it and it shows no signs of going away anytime soon because it's so deeply ingrained, and since the dirtiest ones are the ones with the most power and they have no intention of giving that up. Why would they teach people to think differently, when it benefits them to leave everyone believing that money is everything?

Chinese culture loves their money and hierarchy too, but theirs seems to have other more well-rounded beliefs to balance theirs out. Historically though they were just as bad as the Koreans are now. But their growth took centuries and it shows. It's why I genuinely believe the biggest problem Korea has is that it became very wealthy very quickly. It all happened too fast. Education of the masses didn't keep up with the rate of growth of financial wealth. The cultural growth didn't have a chance to keep up with the influx of wealth so you end up with a bunch of low class people attaining a lot of money and power and the culture becomes what it is today.

Money doesn't come with class.

One person gets wealthy and they bring their entire trashy family along with them. Nepotism dominates, resulting in all those trashy family members now having money and power and wanting they want to wield and show off to others. They want to feel important now that they have something they don't deserve. In a culture like this why is anyone surprised cheating runs rampant? They use money to maintain their power and see no reason to work hard for what they have or even to keep it. No they'd rather steal, cheat, lie, bully and bribe to keep their power, like the trash they are, than try to earn it. That's because, if the DID have to earn it the right way THEY COULDN'T! They didn't earn what they have in the first place. They bought it, and they see nothing wrong with that.

It's difficult for me to watch Korean dramas now because of this. This is the first one I've watched in probably a year (which is ridiculously long for me), because the ugliness of Korean culture always comes through in their dramas. Can't get away from it because it's their reality. I've watched mostly Chinese dramas now and I'm pretty sure I'm going right back to that.

I'll never get why tv loves to always show people confronting others when they are caught doing something illegal. Like people actually do something that stupid in real life? Obviously they'll try to stop you to prevent you from selling them out. Like what's the point of confronting them in the first place? Especially in cases like these where you KNOW they won't fess up and you aren't even bothering to ask them to. So WHY? What, just to make sure they know you're the one that turned them it? It's the dumbest damn thing to me.

There's a 2008 version in Viki but I don't know about this one.

I actually did end up going back and finishing Dream Garden a while back and did end up enjoying it. I even ended up rating it higher than I did this one too! LOL!

My comment wasn't aimed at you and I wasn't "coming at" anyone. I just replied to the chain. The fact that you see my comment as "coming at you" is quite interesting since all I was doing was sharing a perspective and literally nothing I said was an attack on anyone whatsoever. Even after reading it again now I still cannot see how it could be taken as such.

You seem to have other things going on if you read that and took it as me "coming at you" though. Feels more like a you problem than me. Maybe you're looking for someone to argue with? I mean, that's what replying to me after all this time has passed, saying I'm "coming at you" after reading my completely benign comment conveys. Why? Why bother? It wasn't even that important or serious then and it sure as hell is even less so now.

It's been way too long ago so I don't remember but I know it wasn't a case of him being abusive or anything like that as far as I can recall. They were just growing apart I think. Or just the relationship had always been dull and lifeless for her. She just wasn't happy in her marriage. I would have said something about being a jerk husband if that was the case.

Her best friend does a fair and very valid assessment of the relationship between the FL and her ex. She was never really in love with him. She was used to him and loved him but was not IN LOVE with him. He pursued her when they were younger. They grew up together and had a normal friendship which, when they reached puberty turned into some feelings of liking one another. It's obvious he liked her a lot more than she did. He's the one who convinced her they were meant to be together and that there wasn't anyone else who could be better than them for one another. When anyone came around the FL that she started having feelings for he drove them away and eventually they ended up together because he was very clingy. He didn't look at anyone else because he did believe she was it for him (she probably was the best thing around too so it makes sense). She was who he felt he was meant to be with. Until he moved away and finally started being exposed to other women. Then he realized there was more out there than just her and maybe they weren't really meant to be like he thought. Rather than owning and acknowledging that he put the blame for his cheating on her. I feel like he knew all along she wasn't really in love with him. He just didn't want to admit it. She just believed that she must have been in love with him because she never experienced that feeling of more than like with anyone else or, whenever she did, he chased them away before it turned into anything more. So she started believing too that he must be the one for her. They never would have lasted. She really only loved him like family. They should never have dated. They should have waited until they went away to college and met more people before they got together, and probably never would have.

I did too but later, from her explanation it became clearer that she had said that, as a way of expressing to him that she didn't feel like she was special to him or his only woman. It's something many people do when they suspect the other person is cheating (based on how they are treating them) but have no evidence to prove it. It's like they're trying to either stir up a response from the other person to get them either to reassure them that there's no one else, or to hint at them that they aren't feeling secure in the relationship and feel like there's someone else in the mix. She didn't know for sure. She was testing the waters.

Is it me or are there some weird edits in the first 2 episodes? At the end of the first episode they show the other guy she was going to interview make some sort of grand appearance (getting off a motorcycle) at the entrance of the club that made it seen like a new player was being introduced to the story. Then, nothing. I'm near the end of ep 2 and still haven't seen a glimpse of that guy again or any mention of him.

Then there's that girl who's the new editing director. I get from the gist of what happened that she must have caught her boyfriend with another women when she used the guy's card to enter the rooms but they never showed anything. I keep waiting for them to loop back around to fill in that gap but they haven't yet.

To be fair, I keep dozing off (mostly because I've gone without coffee today I think) so it may be that I missed some quick shots here and there but I've gone back to see what I've missed and still haven't seen anything so I dunno...

Ummm so I'm watching the FL's stand up comedy performances in the first couple of episodes and she isn't very funny, yet she's supposed to be the headliner?? Couldn't they have written better jokes for her to use? These jokes would have flopped at any comedy show I can think of.
Even the one girl who went before her in ep 1 told one joke that was funnier than anything she's told so far. I just started episode 2 and I don't understand why the drama didn't take the time to make sure they used really good jokes for her sets.

Started watching it anyway. LOL! Fatty from FIYS is in this! Yay!
There's a song in this first episode that I love already. It's beautiful. They start playing it when she first arrives at his office building to have their first (official) meeting.

Okay I saw one comment where someone kindly explains, in detail, exactly why they went from loving the drama to being completely disappointed in the second half. Their comments give me pause because it's a feeling I hate as well - when an amazing drama loses its way and ends up in disappointment.

I've found a few more comments now where I notice everyone keeps comparing it to dramas written back in 2010. Even that first commenter I mentioned said something about feeling like they were watching a 2010 drama too.

Still, I don't see enough comments on here that help understand what people's complaints are, for the ones who don't like it.

I was about to start it but I saw that they don't get together until very late in the drama and the feelings don't even really begin until midway. I've been watching mini C-dramas on YouTube for the past few months and they've gotten me spoiled now with not having to wait for my romance. Sigh. I'll have to wait until I'm in the right mood to watch this I think.

I couldn't ever finish Mr. Bad. Just wasn't feeling the romance in that one at all. I did like her in ALSB and, of course, MG.
