I have a lot of respect for you, because you don't just blindly defend NDS, and point out his flaws as well. You cannot properly defend a position if you don't understand how you got there. I can't say the same for your typical NDS fan though, who just blindly supports the show regardless of the show's shortcomings.

To be honest, I haven't seen another comment section worth posting on due to how slow the replies come. At the height of Start Up, you would get replies every 5-10 minutes or so. It felt like a pretty nice community. The other comment sections are more like comment, then wait a day for a reply.
Hmm, I don't think it works that way, the ones all of a sudden showing up rated during their join dates. Also, as you say, they don't even have a watchlist, so they made new accounts for the sake of rating all 10's. I know you don't like those.
I just think it's funny :)))), and I commend them for the effort of course!
It's been 7.9 since the number of reviews were about 4,500 users. It's 7,300 users now and it hasn't budged in either direction.
I neither understand the people rating all 1's, but I also don't understand the people rating all 10's. I think MDL really needs to look at how the rating systems work, and come up with a less abusable algorithm in their rating system.
Like, you should not be able to make reviews or ratings if your account is less than 1 month old for example.
Interesting war happening in the Review section. I don't know how the review section works, or what gets considered in the "Most Helpful" reviews, but it has stayed stable 2 weeks after the show ended, but today it seems a Review war is brewing.
First two pages of the review section used to be filled with less than positive reviews for Start Up, with a few more positive review sprinkled. But now, things seemed to have flipped. Now out of the 24 reviews that make up the first two pages, 11 of them are from accounts made in the last 2 weeks. And of course these 11 accounts except for 1 or two, rated Start Up all 10's.
Just an interesting observation :)))) Keep up the good work @gsgg crew!
I'll be here eating popcorn to see how they will convert the 7.9/10 average rating to 9/10 :)))) I hope I don't have to wait long!
Those all 10's review won't mean much if the overall rating is still below 8 :((((

Yes, even when I look at NJH, he seems more like a little brother than anything, so I think he would do well in a noona romance. In start up, I felt his maturity level and SDM maturity levels were not in sync at all. In the latter episodes, they did eventually sync up, but the damage had been done in the earlier parts.

I had a phase in my life where I only watched asian art films, and non mainstream movies, so my mind is kind of programmed to look for the deeper meanings, symbolism, and metaphors. Plus in my younger days, I devoured books like crazy. Of course, this doesn't mean I can't appreciate simple fluff, but I want it to be well made fluff at least. You write quite well as well. The only NDS fan that does write well, and argues well as well. It would be nice to be on the same ship as you one day :)
Kdrama in general needs to writer better endings. TKEM ending was a disaster IMO, I cringed when they were time travelling through different times at the end there.
What is a good PBG drama to start with that isn't reply. I'm pretty much done with SLS for now, I don't like the feeling, and the frustrations LOL!

I mean, it's not like shows don't exist, where the FL isn't being converted into a trophy, so why do writers keep coming back to this tired trope? I think they are misunderstanding what your standard Kdrama audience is looking for.
I mean look at TWOTM, it's not standard Kdrama fluff, but the ratings it got in Korea is nothing short of staggering, and it's on a smaller cable network in JTBC too. I'm so tired of the, hire two A-list star, slap on your standard Kdrama plot, give it a misleading title, then profit. For how long will these producers get away with this?
I've watched the first episode of Run-on, and although I haven't fallen for the ML yet, he has this quirky and eccentric personality that makes him a unique and fresh perspective on the ML. At first, when we saw all those flashback scenes of ultra logical NDS turning all those women away in the knitting club, I was looking forward to seeing more of that eccentricity come out. But, they completely did away with that part of NDS personality, and instead replaced it with your standard HS ML with very little depth, and too much angst.
Both ML, "HAD" interesting arcs. NDS lost his interesting arc at around Ep. 7, HJP lost his at around Ep. 12. And for the love of all Kdrama, there was zero growth from all the characters after three years, which is hard to believe. NDS literally went to a different country, with different culture, standards, ideas and etc... and he comes back exactly the same? And SDM, is a literal CEO, under the guidance of her sister, and she's still the same? I've said it before, and I will say it again, Yong San had the most growth after Ep. 12...
The set up of the first 6 episodes was really nice and set the expectations high for Start Up to be one of the great shows of 2020, but then that backhalf of episodes just completely ruined it with 180 degree characterization switches, cliche endings, and just to many plot holes to count.
Still kinda miffed there isn't one mention of how the creators of Yong Sil are being compensated. Or what HJP did to help noon gil. Like even a news article or one small line from Dong Chan? Nothing at all...

I think maybe why WLFKBJ was well received internationally is because LSK is also quite immature, and has that little sister vibe, so they fit.
