There is certainly a parallel being shown by the writer that even if you are rich and successful like HJP, you can still be lonely. And if you are loved, have a good family, and have a good career, you can still be lonely like NDS.

I kind of hated it though that the key to loneliness/happiness is SDM? These Kdrama characters needs to stop pining all their happiness to the FL. I guess in that sense ROY ending was good, since the happiness of the ML and FL was not pinned on each other.

I just discovered them with their song with Selena Gomez! I watched their documentary on Netflix also.

OST is amazing :)

Not overrated, but rather overhyped. Suffers the same issues as TKEM and to a lesser extent ROY, where the hype doesn't match the quality of the show.

If you want to enjoy it, go in with very low expectations, so that it will end up surprising you.

I find all of Halmoni and HJP scenes are such tear jerkers. Injae and Halmoni comes a close second in terms of sadness.

I think people in general, especially in 2020, when everyone is having hardship, finds it hard to relate to someone who has been lucky and loved all his life, and still finds way to complain about the pressure.

It's like someone wins the lottery of 1 Billion WON, but then get's depressed because he is being forced to be charitable, or support his parents with the money.

We have a term for that, we call those things "First World Problems".

I haven't had a chance to watch it actually. I've been meaning to watch all her works, but if it's not on Netflix, I have a hard time dealing with the buffering and poor quality of the feeds. What introduced me to her and to Kdrama in general is Pasta.

I've seen the following of her works, and I will rank them in my preferences.

1. It's Okay That's Love (I have re-watched this at least 5 times now, the chemistry of these two, WOW!)
2. Master's Sun (The only scary drama I ever watch, but it's worth it!)
3. Jealousy Incarnate (JJS and GHJ chemistry is fire!)
4. When the Camellia Blooms (Great plot, and interesting characters)
5. Greatest Love (This is just so cute!)
6. Pasta (My first Kdrama)

I am skipping the Producers, because I don't think I can handle the SLS.

I've seen two of her movies, the one with Shin Min Ah (who is the Dimple Queen!) and Crush and Blush. I've been meaning to watch her other films, but it's not easy to find.

Gong Hyo Jin is still super famous. She is in the top 10 most notable actors/actress of 2020 according to knetz.

I don't know if writing a poor and weak main lead character for buzz is a viable strategy? If this was a western show, the negative buzz would tank the show.

I can't speak for school 2015, but PHR probably didn't expect KSH to steal the show. If she knew KSH would steal the show, I'm sure she would have given NJH a bit more strength and ended the love triangle much earlier.

NJH's costar SSK is acting her pants off in hew new drama Run On. I haven't seen bride of haebek, but on MDL it seems to be universally hated, and people panned both NJH and SSK acting. But on Run On, after seeing "blank eyed bambi" Suzy for 16 episodes, SSK reminds me what acting is suppose to look like.

Start Up wasn't boring, just annoying, and cringy. Most of the romantic scenes felt forced, and lacked chemistry, which is weird considering how passionate they kiss. A lot of the plot holes just had me rolling my eyes in disdain. And the one thing I hate in Kdrama is when the characters act out of character, there is just such a disconnect.

I am having trouble moving on from this active comment section. All the other comment sections barely break 2k in comments, and even the new one i'm watching isn't very active for a live airing.

In many ways, our conversation here between us commenters is like SDM and HJP when they were penpals. There is a sense of excitement to see what the other person has replied to you (unless it's a troll).

Seems like the ending was universally hated. I don't see a problem with open endings, what did people not like about it? I have not seen any of PBG's dramas, but I heard some people say he is a better actor than NJH, what are your thoughts? Personally, I think PBG is more attractive than NJH, he has such a lovely face.

I am curious, why are so many people getting SLS in his dramas? First school 2015, and now Start Up? I'd be curious on why you think this is happening. Was his school 2015 character that unlikeable?

Well to be fair, LMH is really handsome, and he is tall and dashing, and has a good body. BUT, that's about it. He also has more screen presence than NJH I feel, I can actually imagine NJH as second lead, but not LMH. Still, I don't like LMH's acting. It's stiff and it's boring, very one toned.

Not sure if your into movies, but I discovered her in this rom-com Plan Man, she is super duper cute in this. Han Ji Min, I mean.

Well after talking to you and some of other fans, I realize that regardless of the mess of the plot, there were some good moments that were memorable. Although most of them involved HJP lol! I thought it was a disservice to rank it in the 5's. A 6, looks nicer also in the greater scheme of things. Plus the OST is amazing, and i'll always remember the OST.

I've lost respect for this writer though, she used so much symbolisms and metaphors that ended up meaning nothing, and improperly used foreshadowing and other literary devices. Plus she butchered one of my all time favorite plays in Cyrano. Plus the I will always rate a drama with a forced time skip a bit lower than average, since it's such a cop out and shows a bit of laziness in the writer.

I am watching Welcome to Waikiki 2, and Run On. Still figuring out how I can watch Mr. Queen.

Looking forward to a bunch of Kdrama in 2021 though. I'm also staying away form any love triangles for now, so no True Beauty for me.

Also, I was looking at the record of Youth comment section out of curiosity, and not matter how much people disliked it, there were still a significant number of all 10's in the review section. Just goes to show, no matter how bad you think a drama is, there will always be someone who loved it.

The Soop Unnies are all my favs. Jeon De Yeon, Jung Yu Mi, and Gong Hyo Jin. I still haven't warmed up to Suzy, but i'm going to watch while you were sleeping to see if my assessment of her get's better.

So wait SNF has some dying scenes or horror scenes? It's not my cup of tea then.

TBF, i'm a huge fan of micro expression in the actors I like, and Suzy and NJH just don't have it. NJH is a bit better than Suzy, but compared to KSH, they still have ways to go. But their both young, so still time to hone their micro expressions more. Lee Min Ho is another actor that has zero micro expression. He just has the same blank stare whether he is happy or angry or sad. I'm afraid LMH is hopeless on the micro expressions front. SHHH don't tell his fans I said it...

I'll check light in your eyes then, after I forget the imagery of NDS in my mind.

Oh yeah, Han Ji Min is another of my faves as well, she's super adorable for her age, a little on the short side, but still a good actress. I recently watched Familiar Wife, and it's not bad.

If you like Jung Hae In, he is having a drama soon coming up with Jisoo from Blackpink. I'm going to check it out due to Jisoo, although I hear Jung Hae In is an amazing actor in his own right.

It's been said in the past, and i'll say it here again. Youtube, IG, Facebook, and twitter commenters are not the same as MDL commenters. In MDL, we do not go to the extent those other social media platforms. There is a lot more maturity here, and there is less personal attacks happening here, if any at all.

To create a generalization of a fandom for a particular website, based on the actions of other groups not connected to this particular website, is not only reckless, but harmful to the reputation of the people, who for the most part have been nice to fans of both Dodal and Jidal pairings. Once again, you can even scroll just down the past few days, and see that no one is bashing the show due to the HJP sink shipping.

Anyway, link the comments you see here in the past few days that are bashing the show because HJP and SDM did not end up together, and we can see if your right or not. If you can find more than 5 people doing this. Then you have a point.

I'm on ep. 12 so far. That scene where he is smiling, then we see tears falls down and he burst into tears, was so moving for a comedic drama.

KSH is a crazy good crier, he has a beautiful cry.

I think, take away HJP completely from the show, and people like me, would still have issues with NDS treatment of his parents, his lack of an identity, his obsessive nature with SDM, the fact that the road to becoming a startup was way too easy, and had no discernable barriers, with comparison to how start ups are in real life, and the fact that he made a person his dream.

There is also the subject of the codependent relationship between NDS and SDM, where SDM enables NDS more salient flaws.

Regardless of the presence of HJP, NDS himself, had many different characteristics and actions, that is just not ok for the 2020 landscape.

Try it, take out HJP completely, and just make it about NDS and SDM, and the points I mentioned above, are still eye raising.

All HJP did was make NDS flaws more noticeable in comparison.

i'm not done it yet, but I kind of figured he would.

The love of the main couple was explained with the lazy "Just Because". But I don't really care at all about the Dodal end game because after EP. 7 it became way too predictable where it would go. I was more invested in how HJP would get his happy ending, which he didn't.

Most of the reviews, talk about the show's quality, the bad morals, the poor acting, the fact that HJP got played dirty by the writer.

Even the review I wrote, I barely, if t all, talked about the HJP and SDM ship. My point is, you are nitpicking on the few people who disliked the show because of the ship, and not appreciating that a majority of the fans who rated the show low had valid reasons tied to the quality of the writing.

If you were here for the comment section during live airing, you will find out that majority of HJP fans accepted Dodal ending since Ep. 7 at least. But they still gave it a 1% chance of being a Jidal ending. And in no way, was there toxicity coming from the HJP fans for the most part. And i've seen most of the review, and only very few blame the HJP and SDM ship sinking.

Don't believe me? Go ahead and read back 26k worth of comments and see if i'm wrong. Or read the more than 260+ reviews, and see how many are rating the show poor due to the HJP and SDM ship sinking.,
