I honestly don't get the negativity around who Dal Mi ended up with. Do San was perfect match for her, they work…
Negativity had to do with the butchery of all the other characters, especially HJP towards the latter half. The large amount of plot holes, unnecessary scenes, lack of chemistry between the main couple, bad moral messages, and cliche after cliche. WIJ,'s main lead got demoted to a cameo among other things. SDM went from smart and quick, to your typical weak FL damsel in distress. Its not so much that SDM and NDS ended up together.
Probably the biggest thing against the show, is how it starts so well and good for the first 6 episodes, only to experience a huge drop in quality in writing. After Ep. 10, everything felt force fed by the writing. Little tip, if you have to include plot points in the dialogue of the characters, then it just shows how insecure the writing had become that they felt the need to clarify the plot points via dialogue, rather than let the audience discover it on their own.
Maybe read the reviews, instead of assuming the negative reviews are only about the fact that HJP didn't end with SDM... Where did you get the assumption anyway that the negativity is because of a sunk ship?
BTW, blaming the negative ratings/review/comments of the show on a sunk ship, shows me that you didn't even bother reading the first page of reviews. And just wanted to spread some misinformation.
I think most of the negativity of the show, you already mention in your post. From the regression of the ML, the…
The way they kept driving sailing without a map, and showing that not only did it work once, but it worked multiple times is a bad moral message to young people. Plus the romanticizing of doing bad things in the name of love, left a sour taste in my mouth.
This isn't the 70's or the 80's anymore. Not having a concrete plan, backup plan, or a realistic dream will see real life slam you hard against the wall and take your money, without feeling bad about it.
Watching while live airing has its perks, if it's a good show, it gives you something to look forward to.

I'm pretty critical on lazy writing, plot holes, and one dimensional characters, as there are so many well written shows for me to give Start Up a better score than what I already gave it.
What bothered me the most was the unhealthy morals being romanticized by the show. Plus I didn't skip any scenes, so maybe that's why my enjoyment of the show was less. But I definitely loved HJP and Halmoni's scene, and any scene of Kang Hanna being a badass.
I'm a pretty harsh reviewer though. I rated TKEM at 3.5/10
I feel like a proud mama hen!

This is my first time watching NJH, and I may take a break from seeing him in anything else for a bit.
With out his hard work, I don't think we would have gotten this far.

When will this air?
