Hello everyone, i'm Rina

My favorite genres are: melodrama, slice of life, comedy, thriller, mystery (but I try to watch all different kinds of genres)

My top 3 dramas right now are: The Smile has left your Eyes, Chicago Typewriter, and Just between Lovers (yes, I love to cry)... also, I don't feel like they will change in the near future. They are just so good.

About Me

  • The first Asian drama I ever watched was Meteor Garden (in 2018).  I watched the first 15 episodes within a few days and was very intrigued, however, I lost interest and never finished it. It got me hooked enough to check out other Asian dramas though.

  • I have a short attention span and prefer to get through dramas quickly, otherwise, I might lose interest

  • Finishing a show with more than 16 episodes is a high level of accomplishment for me!

  •  Somehow I mostly watch Rom-Coms, even though it's definitely not my favorite genre, lol. I tend to watch fluffy and light-hearted shows when life gets busy and stressful, which it does... all the time, apparently.

  •  As I'm still fairly new to all of this, I'm still in the process of finding my corner in the world of dramas. I do have clearer preferences now, but I still like to try out new genres and shows that are out of my "comfort-watch-zone". At the moment I'm trying to get into older dramas and Asian movies (if you have recommendations, please feel free to tell me!)

  •   I really want to start writing reviews but I don't feel confident enough to do so since I'm terrible at putting my thoughts into sentences that make sense... someday maybe.

My Preferences

Things in dramas that I appreciate:

  • complex characters and character arcs

  • endings that make sense (It doesn't  need to be a happy ending. If it does a good job concluding the story, I'm happy nonetheless.)

  • well-written side characters that aren't only there for comic relief and/or supporting the main characters

  • lovely friendships

Things in dramas that frustrate me:

  • sudden plot-twists towards the end that don't make sense and that are simply there to add extra drama

  • "evil" characters being evil just for the sake of being evil and adding more drama. If an "evil" character is well-written and complex (has a reasonable motive or reason for being that way/doing bad things), they might even become my favorite character

  • romanticizing  possessive, intrusive, or non-consensual behavior

The End

I'm always open to a nice chat, discussion, recommendation or question!

Have a lovely day/evening/night, everyone! :)
