hmm probably yeah, especially that dog tag scene feels like a death flag for Baba. I watch some school/"friendship" drama that did foreshadow the death of a major character since the early episodes. But I don't see any scenario to kill him off except an illness or it happened before they get their teppachi. But i think that Muto may be the reason if they did kill-off Baba.

This is only a light military school drama. The chance of Baba getting killed/died on screen is very slim, unless we got an epilogue in the last episode (like he is killed in action or something) or he have some kind of illness.
