I'm not worried about her acting skills, rather her track record. None of her dramas did well. At least on here at MDL. No drama in 8.0 or above.

Xu Kai is 28, close to 30 himself. He has experience in playing the "cold, domineering" characters like Bai Jue (ALP) and Li Shen Shen (The Legends). He even played an Emperor (Royal Feast), and a General (Court Lady).
He has two new dramas coming soon -- in one of them, he is a General/Prince (Wonderland of Love); in the other, he is playing the infamous Dong Bo Xue Ying (Snow Eagle Lord).

I think the aura he carried while playing these characters is enough for him to play a CEO. He may have the so-called "baby face", but what really matters is the aura of a cold, domineering personality, which Xu Kai most definitely has.
We have seen many "mature face" actors play CEOs, but they have the weakest of auras.

This author writes the best MLs out there. There's another novel by the same author- The Youthful You Who Was So Beautiful - It was adapted into a movie called Better Days, with Zhou Dongyu (If I'm not wrong, Zhou Dongyu got so much recognition because of this movie). I haven't read this novel yet, and I hesitate to read it (Not happy ending, from what I hear). But the reviews of this novel also suggest that the ML is best ML ever.
Same goes to ML of Waiting For You In A City -- it's the FL of this novel you might dislike in the beginning, but later you will come to like her.

It happened many times before (even with Xu Kai. Falling Into Your Smile and Ancient Love Poetry were on air together). But in those cases, the two dramas that aired around same time belonged to different networks. . So, yeah, I also think it's probably not possible to air together. Maybe one after the other? The novel is great though. I read it about 2 years ago... I was, and still am, a Xu Kai's fan. So when I read Waiting For You In A City, I imagined Xu Kai in the role and he perfectly fit. At that time, there was no news of this novel being adapted to drama. So, I really hoped they could adapt it and cast Xu Kai. But then, Xu Kai gets cast in another adaption of a novel from the same author, I was so so excited. I didn't read this novel before, so I read it and absolutely loved it as well.

Yes, she is the adopted daughter of the Meng family. Meng family is an influential military family... Of course, Xu Qin's family was also an influential military family , but they died in a fire. So, their family friends, the Meng family, took her in.
Meng Yanchen, who also got a mention in As Beautiful As Beijing, is the Meng family's son -- 2nd ML. Also, a childhood crush of Xu Qin. Meng Yanchen also has feelings for Xu Qin. But of course, Mother Meng notices this and warns FL.

I've only recently got to know, when I was translating As Beautiful As Beijing, someone commented about characters from Waiting For You In A City were mentioned in As Beautiful As Beijing chapter. And yes., it was true.
Then I checked back -- it seems Han Ting was on a blind date with Xu Qin - FL of Waiting For You In A City. You know, the blind date that was mentioned by Zeng Di a few times in her inner monologues. Han Ting was interested to get married to her, but Xu Qin, obviously still in love with her ML, declines. Han Ting moves on.
