The cheating ex of the FL has on entirely too much makeup. He got more lipstick than the female characters. The…
I can get chapped lips within 30seconds of a whole ton of chapsticks, lip balms and, after experimenting, lip colours...I always assume that the actor is having the same reaction as me. Here's hoping they use different products as the show goes on.

It would be so much clearer and more appealing if the synopsis told of her cbsession with FAIRNESS and EQUALITY rather than money and taking no loss.

Loved almost everything about this episode - especially the continued digs at the social status quo like the reminder…
David Attenborough has said much the same, from when he was a child (his parents fostered children)! Well said!

Thank you for your sacrifice πŸ™ I really appreciate you watching these so that now I don’t have to. Except for Princess Princess D - any show described as 'whimsically weird' HAS to go on my PTW list! ❀️

Same. I keep asking for examples of the "vulgar" and "explicit" sex scenes in newer K-dramas because I certainly…
I wonder if people are saying "Westernisation' when they're meaning "Globalisation".
Maybe they're really seeing that something is different but can't quite put their finger on it. BUT as you've said elsewhere, cultures don't stop in time, cultures change constantly. So maybe the truth is, when people are decrying "Westernisation" it's actually nostalgia
that underpins their feelings πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I agree. I do not see any overt Westernization in k-dramas with the exception of Season dragging. I find many…
That's really interesting. So your experience is actually the opposite of those complaining about hypersexulisation conflated with westernisation.
And i agree about the multiple season thing. I am not a fan. 1 and done, tie it all up in a nice bow in the last ep, move on to a whole new story. But that's also why I'm generally not a fan of daytime and family dramas...24 eps is my upper limit 😬

I dont like to cntinue with ep 3. Its so hard to watch the daughter, her acting is not giving me any interest…
Son Na-Eun is usually a fantastic actor BUT (and I really really really don't like myself for posting this) I genuinely think that she's had some unfortunate botox and filler and it's affecting how she can 'emote'. It looks like they've tried to reduce her nasolabial folds, and stop her nostrils flaring. It also stops her top lip, and her nose in general, from moving naturally.
Good news is, it will reduce so she'll improve as the show goes on. Ep 4 is already an improvement.

Such an interesting article Suzy, generating SO much discussion.
To the commenters lamenting the 'Westernisation' of K-dramas, can you please give me some concrete examples...specific plots, scenes, characters; whatever you've got, I am asking for specifics. I am really interested to understand because honesty I just don't see it πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Wait why is this rating sooooo low?
It's not about the show itself, only 1 episode has aired so far. IMO Ignore early ratings as a general rule 😁

So true, but I think I've started thinking of them as pieces of art, kinda separate from the shows, so I don't mind so much now - especially after your expo.
Thanks for such an awesome editorial πŸ’“

It really makes me sad (even tho i try not to give a damn) that SO many are deeply dissapointed and complaining…
I don't understand the hate for KYD either. I've seen a number of his dramas and he's alright. The good news is Shin Min Ah could evoke chemistry with a rock, so the chances of this being πŸ”₯ are high.
