I am finishing off ep 17- 40 Are you the one? With Zhang Wan Yi. He looks exactly the same here as in the other…
The Rise of Ning is really well written and the acting is exceptional. I am quite pleased with it, myself. I personally would wait and finish "Are you the one?" ( I haven't watched it myself). But for me anyway, I find it distracting to watch a drama with the same actor I am currently watching in another drama. I am just weird that way. I can barely watch more than one currently airing drama at a time. I am barely keeping up with Kill Me, Love Me while watching this, but I am trying because they are both really good.

scholar families historically looked down on military families, and both looked down on merchant families. it…
I think so, but it is just crazy, cause there are usually some bada** military people and even in the royal family, in some of these dramas anyway, you see royal members be part of the military. I think military should be above scholar, only cause most military members are great strategists and you need to be really smart, imo, to do that.

She's lying to protect herself because she is Meimei and she thinks that the marquis is a cold hearted killer.…
Ok I understand now, what you are talking about. Yeah, I get it, they are suppose to be quite intelligent, and it really didn't seem so in this interaction.

Also, I agree with you about this particular side story. The drama would still be just as good without this particular added unnecessary side. I guess they needed something to create the illusion of a "love triangle", so they took a certain aspect of the novel and recreated it into what we got here, it might be why it seems so inconsistent, cause they seem to have changed this particular storyline (I haven't read the novel, it is just what I have gathered from others that have)

Can anyone tell me why they won't let the brother that loves martial arts and is always reading military tactics join the army? I mean it would make sense. He doesn't like studying, he didn't pass the exam. I understand they are from a scholar family, but he could make great achievements in the military, just as he could as a scholar if not better.

Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
She's lying to protect herself because she is Meimei and she thinks that the marquis is a cold hearted killer.…
Let me see if I can explain it.

From LYN's flashbacks: LYN met LJX in the country while she was staying in her villa. She didn't give him her real name, because my guess she wasn't sure about him and she didn't want him to know she was from the Luo family (this is my guess) She developed feelings for him, so much so, she was in love. Then a long comes his supposed fiancé or whatever she was to him and the fiancé causes LYN (posing as Mei Mei) to fall off the cliff, LYN overheard LJX say he doesn't care about some woman who died, etc.

Currently in the present: LJX truly believes LYN is his Mei Mei (although she really is). LYN told LJX the story of her flashbacks basically, but saying it was Mei Mei her maid that was actually the one that died and that loved him (she really had a maid named Mei Mei who died), but was killed from the cliff fall. LYN feels that LJX didn't really care about her and wanted her dead, did not want to tell him the truth, cause she was extremely traumatized by the event. So that is why she continues to tell him that it was her maid and not her. He says "impossible" because he doesn't believe her, because of the fact she likes paper cutting, playing that one song on the pipa, and her voice.

LJX's flashback from the cliff: He never saw who fell (because he technically never has seen LYN "mei mei" face, he just confronted the girl who drove LYN to fall from the cliff and the girl "fiance", whatever she was told him who went off the cliff. You see also see in his flashbacks him searching for "mei mei" in the water, etc.

I don't think he wanted to believe it, cause he never found a body while he was searching. So when LYN told him it was her maid and since her real maid named Mei Mei had really died, I think he still kind of doesn't believe it.

I hope this helps a little.

I just looked at it. Now, I really hope they reveal her true parentage soon. I am interested to know how her real family is going to take it, especially the adopted daughter.

How is Family by Choice? I heard the first few episodes are almost exactly like Go Ahead. I am looking forward to watching it after it finishes.

I have to say, that the story/plot and the acting have been so exceptional in this drama, that I am not even missing the romance. I mean I can't wait til they get there, but I am in no rush. I like romantic dramas, but at the same time when a drama can do a story so well and the acting is so well done, that you don't miss the romance, than for me the drama is definitely a must watch.

can someone tell me what are the age of luo siblings
They haven't really said. We could try and guess LYN's age only cause she left the house about the age of 6 or 8, and was gone for 10 years. Other than that, not really sure on all the others.

So wwat is real identity of FL?
We don't know who her real father is, but she is Luo Yi Ning. She only pretended to be her maid, because she didn't know who LJX really was at the time she met him. Also, she probably didn't want to bring attention to the Luo family or for them to know what she was doing while she was away for 10 years.

The reviews here look good, but Avenue X said that the drama is a waste of time, so is it worth watching??
I refuse to watch her. I have a watched a few of so called "reviews". She is completely biased. Her review of some of the dramas are horrible, for example, she only watch maybe 1 or 2 episodes of Hidden Love and bashed it. It is like she isn't watching the same drama others are watching. Also, there are actors/resses she clearly does not like, so she will always comment bad about their dramas.

IMO, if you haven't fully watched the drama from beginning to end then your review, opinion of said drama does not matter, you can not judge a drama just by 1 or 2 episodes, sometimes it takes 5 episodes to get into it.

Now I understand everyone's review can be biased there are dramas that some people love and others just don't like. But at least if you call yourself a "reviewer" than you should have a mostly unbiased opinion.

He is not nearly as obsessive and creepy as I have seen in other dramas. Jeremy Tsui's character was crazy obsessive in Love of Nirvana. Also, Du Ya Fei's character in Jun Jiu Ling, OMG now that was crazy obsessive.

Yeah the 2 ML is a bit crazy, but in my opinion he is mild to others I have seen.

How’s it so far? The chemistry? Does the ML get power? Is he strong?
It really good, the story is interesting to keep my waiting for each new episode. So far I think it is a really light hearted drama. Any problems they seem to fix almost right away, except for the main storyline which is still ongoing.

The chemistry is there, but right now the FL is still under the impression she is a sister to the ML, she doesn't know the truth yet, so we have not gotten any romance as of yet.

The ML is very smart and knows martial arts, but hides it. Right now he doesn't have that much power he was just finally acknowledged as part of the family.

Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
Who is Ms. Yang?
I have a theory. I am wondering if she was hired by LYN to get under the first madam's nerves or to maybe trip her up, like maybe some kind of plot where LYN could find out about what actually happened to her (LYN) mother.

The reason is, I think her (Yang) being kicked out of the inn and needing money right when the first master (Luo Chengwen) happened to be coming back, seemed a little to coincidental. I also think LCW maybe had a thing for Madam Gu before she was poisoned, it may be why the Madam of the first household possibly poisoned her and why the first master decided to leave for so long. When Ms. Yang was introduced, there was a little smirk in LYN's facial expression it looked like.

So many theories, can't wait to find out the truth.

The one thing that’s been bugging me is the way these Luo kids are numbered. Somehow the fifth daughter is the…
yes I was quite confused as well. @iamteewoo did a great job of explaining it for me in my post below here is a portion of what they explained to me, hope it helps:

"In this situation, you have two grown sons of the Luo family that have continued to live at the same home and maintaining one familial unit. The numbering system follows the birth of the children of that specific generation (in this case the 36th) in this familial unit regardless of the father. So I think the order (I'll put household after the name) is Yiyu (1), Shanyuan (1), Shenyuan (2), Yilian (2), Xuanyuan (2), Yixiu (1), and Yining (2). The son that died in the first household doesn't seem to have a name and likely isn't on the pedigree/registry. This would change if either of the elder Luo's decided to split the family and establish a separate Luo Mansion, or new family unit."
